Seattle Sun Tan - Tanning Near Me - Bellingham, Washington

The Bellingham location is THE WORST seattle suntan experience. I went in this evening and the associate said that they need to "take down" the versa spa before close and that I would not be able to get a spray tan. It would be helpful if this information was posted literally anywhere as I had used the last of my primer before going in. The time before this the girls had sprayed the versa spa before my session and the water accumulated inside the top of versa spa and dripped on me during my session. THIS IS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE INTERACTION I HAVE EVER HAD. EVER. I was a member at Seattle Sun Tan on Lakeway for two months in preparation for graduation and grad photos. When I signed up, I SPECIFICALLY asked about cancellation, as I knew I would be moving home from college mid-month in June. I was informed that as long as I cancelled before the 15th (charge date), I would not be charged for the following month. I asked another employee the same question later on to make sure that I understood correctly- I'm a college student, I don't have an extra $35 to throw away. I was assured that yes, as long as I cancel before the charge date, I would not be charged for the following month. Flash forward to post-graduation. I cancelled on the 14th of June, and was assured I would not be charged for the following month. I'm home with my family now, and alarmed to see that lo and behold- there's a $35 charge on my account. I gave SST a call and followed their instructions and sent an email explaining my predicament to their customer support team, where I am greeted with the RUDEST email exchange. They actually ARGUED WITH ME about what their employees were providing customers. I told them about what I was informed upon signing up, and they told me I signed a form saying otherwise. When you sign the forms, it's an electronic signature that you sign based on what the employee verbally tells you, there is no hardcopy of the contract provided to you (although there customer support team would assure you that they did provide you one. I'm sorry, but I didn't know the customer support team for the entire SST regional business is there to witness every customer interaction!) In good faith, I trusted the employees. Apparently I shouldn't have. They said I could continue to use my services until the 15th, but as I told them, I moved! FIVE HOURS AWAY. (which is why I even asked about cancellation in the first place.) If you want to feel respected and valued as a customer, and don't want to be charged after you cancel your membership and move five hours away, take your business elsewhere. read more

I decided to start tanning again despite knowing the health costs for mental health reasons. SAD is very real this time of year! I thought the location was for desert tan but when I arrived it was for SST- I was a bit disappointed because I had a coupon. I immediately felt bad vibes when entering. The girl who greeted me was nice but the other girl was just watching me the whole time. I felt super uneasy and overwhelmed with the amount of info. This place is a complete rip off. I said I didn't want to spend too much money and they kept up selling me for over $100 - this is after I thought Id get 1 free trial tan to see how I felt. When I signed up the worker went through the terms and conditions with me (no papers were given to me they just read them off their computer screen which I could not see). I was told whatever I did not use when I purchased a package would be refunded to me. I only got a tanning membership to even out my tan lines before my wedding this summer. So the lady told me $200 would be plenty and whatever I do not use I will be able to get back. I have never tanned before so I took her word for it. After my wedding I came back and cancelled my membership and get my money back. I was told I had $140 left in my account. I asked for it back and they told me no. I explained everything I was told when I signed up and the lady just told me nope it is all in the paperwork which you signed to. But like I said I was only ever told things - never given a piece of paper. I have tried calling the corporate office no answer. I have left multiple messages and no answer or response. So I am out $140 and cannot even get a response from anyone. It sucks that I was taken advantage of as being a new tanner and just someone that wanted to look nice for the own wedding. read more

TL;DR Do you enjoy a business extracting money from you and getting nothing in return? If so, run far away from this place. Man, I hate writing this. Usually the employees are so nice, but I have had too many issues with this place to not leave a review. I visit this place as a gift to myself, much like people get massages, manicures etc. As such, I never go expecting to be treated poorly or to leave feeling WORSE than when I arrived. They often have very popular beds (level 5) that require you to wait until the previous person is done (usually 15-20 minutes, it's not very fun when you get there after work and have to wait even longer before you can tan and get home). That's fine, but if the beds are so popular why not get another bed? When I brought this up, I was told to suck it up or I could go to the North Bellingham location. Wow. What I finally realized is that Seattle SunTan isn't about offering a product for a commensurate price, they are about extracting as much money out of you as they can before you run away screaming. Case in point: I recently went in to cancel my account. It was pleasant enough until the receptionist let me know that since it was March 2nd, that I would get charged for another month. To clarify, that means that my card will get charged TWICE before I can completely cancel the account. Why do they need more than THIRTEEN days to cancel an account? The receptionist stated it was to do clerical work. LOL. These are the business practices you will find at scummy gymnasiums, who have to constantly churn membership to stay in business. When I explained to her that this practice was not a good look, she became very snotty because there is no defense for it. There's nothing I can do now but let the world know my opinion and experiences. I value my happiness and my money, and as such I will never give Seattle SunTan another dime. read more

I just wanted to say Hannah is awesome. She is personable and put a smile on my face when I see her. She knows my tanning style, which is awesome. It's nice having someone show you products, rather then having them pick the most expensive bottle that you may or may not like. Also, Kaley is awesome to. When I go into the salon they know me, so I don't have to tell them my name every time. These ladies make this Seattle Sun Tan, one of my favorite places to go. Both SST locations are fantastic. I frequented the other one for about a year until I moved closer to the Lakeway location and recommend them both. The staff are always very welcoming and friendly and very helpful in all things tanning. Katie, in particular, has gone above and beyond for me on multiple occasions. She is incredibly knowledgeable and got me in the right bed when I was mistakenly just going in the level 5s each time. She also sold me the BEST facial tan lotion I have ever used and it was *not* the most expensive and very gentle on my sensitive skin. This place is always super clean and very comfortable and I am very glad I found this salon!! read more

Went in on their internet special charged my credit card 3x the advertised price, called to get refund for balance was told no refunds, told to call corporate. call corporate (206) 800-7528 in Shoreline and they just leave the phone off the hook. Called for 3 hours just busy signal. Don't want a full refund just want to be charged the difference for the unlimited month. Very sketchy. read more

Today I went to Seattle Sun Tan to spray tan like I do at least once a week. I got there around 9:15, so it was still pretty early still. When I went in I noticed that the heater was not running, so I asked the girl at the front desk if she could check on the heater. I only asked because the last two times I came in the heater was off and I didn't realize it was off until I was mid spraying and freezing to death. Just to be clear if it's during the day or even warmer out I don't really mind spraying without a heater but because it was so early and it was still cold I didn't think it would be unreasonable to ask. Instantly she was annoyed that she even had to help me because of our past experience with her accusing me of lying about the spray tan machine not working but ironically the next day I came in the machine was broke down. She stands inside the spray machine and reaches over the heater pretending like she's rummaging around telling me everything is plugged in and clearly the heater is malfunctioning. She kept saying "It's plugged in! It's plugged in!and I said OK I hear you. Due to her reaction and how over-the-top she was I decided I would double check and wouldn't you know the cord was just hanging from the bottom and I plugged it in and the heater came on. I couldn't believe that she was pretending to do something as she was speaking to me so disrespectfully. This girl should not be working at Seattle Sun Tan she should be an actress. So I plugged it in and the heater came on. Thank God! I don't what pleasure she got out of me freezing but she is definitely a special one. After she was extremely rude and short, I open the door to leave she says (in a very condescending way) "have a great day Jessica." I was pretty surprised by her passive aggressive ways especially so early in the morning LOL. Lucky Seattle suntan for having such a passive aggressive, rude, disrespectful, aggressive employee! This instantly angered me! Clearly this is what she was trying to do because we both know The way you spoke to me 10 minutes prior wasn't not professional or OK!!!! .Seattle suntan should put their girls through customer service training or at least hire people with good customer service. We all have bad days I get that but to deliberately not even plug in the heater or even check to see as she's moving her hands behind the machine pretending like she's doing something. You would imagine mutual respect and integrity would be one of the core values Seattle suntan would expect from their employees but clearly no one is being held accountable because this is the one and only yelp review I put up for Seattle Sun Tan, but if I had been writing everything down for the last year I would have a book. The same girl I'm talking about told me one time the spray machine was working fine but yet I am the one standing naked in the machine being sprayed and I'm telling you nothing is coming out. Just so happened the next day the spray tan machine was broke down imagine that? This girl does not value her job or customer service she needs to be behind a desk somewhere not dealing with people. I find it pathetic that Ashly in customer service only reaches out to the pleasant comments??? This is why this place will never change! First off these images are not of the Bellingham location but that doesn't mean it isn't a nice clean salon. I have been a Seattle Sun Tan client off and on for years and generally tanning salons don't have the best customer service..usually young girls who don't know anything about their products and are just doing it for the money but that is not the case here! I have been coming in for a couple weeks now and all of the employees I have met have been super helpful and informative about their different beds and pricing options. My only thing about this place is the way their pricing is set up is a bit annoying. I personally don't like conventional beds and instead of being able to have an unlimited use on the higher beds (obviously for a higher price) you have to constantly buy packages which is different from other tanning salons I have been too. All in all the staff has made the experience amazing and makes me want to keep coming back. read more
