The cleanliness of this location has really gone down hill over the years! In the spray room- No towels, water everywhere, and not cleaning down machines in between use. Also no nose filters. The place is fine, though the machines are getting a bit old. HOWEVER, recently they stopped accepting credit cards for membership payments and now REQUIRE bank account information. Seriously? No way am I giving out my bank data for a store to have stolen thank you. The alternative to handing over details of your bank? Pay the DOUBLE non-members fee. So, they will no longer be getting my business, all just save on credit card fees. Foolish. read more

I have found that many of their places and pretty nice and clean. Usually in and out pretty quickly. My only issue is, when they are talking to someone that may purchase a package or items they do not acknowledge or help other people waiting to tan. This is the case in all that I visit. read more

Best Seattle Sun location in the greater Seattle area. They have the widest variety of REDLIGHT and tanning beds around and the staff is super friendly. Plus Anthony might be the cutest thing I've seen in a long time! This is definitely the best one to go to in the entire Seattle are. read more

I want to start off by saying that I was torn between giving them 3 or 4 stars. I really like the location and the fact they have choices in tanning levels. The people that work there are friendly as well. However, I was WAY over sold by the young lady behind the counter. I only wanted to tan for a couple of months and I didn't want spray tanning or wraps or red light whatever. I ended up with a package that is $79 a month (after the initial sign up fee) for services I don't even use. When I inquired about down grading my tanning package I was told I couldn't do that. I would recommend really asking questions and making sure you know what you want. Perhaps hand a pricing list to each person inquiring about a membership. That way they can make an informed decision. The other thing I would recommend is to dust the fans in the tanning beds. read more

So far so great!!! Just moved to the area from (a sunny) out of state and needed some serious color. Granted...I just joined yesterday and tanned for my first time today; however, everything has been fantastic so far!! I tried to check out all of the packages on line , but I thought it would be best for me to just go in a speak to a human (crazy concept, I know) and when I went in I got the pleasure of having Alyssa help me. She is the assistant manager and she was extremely knowledgeable and so helpful! She gave me a tour of all of the amenities, answered all of my questions and never once tried to pressure me into anything!! She was so graceful in helping the other customers while still helping me...actually the other customers that came in had great things to say about her and the salon as well! Long stay short...I joined, tanned today which was great and can't wait to be back. Highly recommend! read more

Honestly, I love it here. The girls that work here make it feel like home because they get to know YOU as a person and never forget your name. I do appreciate the non pushy sales, and the fact that I can get a product and be completely informed about what I'm getting. When sales people aren't pushy, you end up getting a lot more sales. They also have done really well at solving billing/equipment problems, and the salon is always clean. I mostly come in when Britney and Tatiana are working, and they rock and know the products/beds backward and forward. Highly recommend. read more

The girl was nice but I hadn't come in for over 6 years (I forgot I even had gone here before) and wanted to use a coupon for first time customers and she wouldn't let me. It was the whole reason I came to get a spray tan here vs. Seattle sun tan, and I feel like 6 years is long enough to make me a first time customer. I was pleased with the friendly gals up front and for them taking them time to educate me on the different shades for my spray tan. Everyone loves how it turned out and it's perfect before my wedding. Decent package prices when you know how to get them. Make sure to ask for their special because they always have one running. This Desert Sun location is one of the larger ones I've been to as well as being one of the cleanest and most friendly. Since they have a lot of beds, often times I can just walk in and get right on a bed unlike other smaller tanning places that require you to make an appointment in advance. The attendants like I mentioned earlier are pretty friendly and are not overly aggressive about trying to sell you bigger packages or very expensive tanning lotions/products. read more

I just stopped in here to get a spray tan before my sisters wedding. I haven't been in in about 10 years. The young lady at the front desk was SUPER helpful. She even showed me how to get a discount so that it was cheaper for me. She had wonderful customer service skills. I've never gotten a spray tan before and have only done beds before and she told me everything I needed to know. I was super nervous at first. But she made that go away really quick. I've been going to this salon for a while and I've been a Desert Sun member for over 5 years. Typically, this has been a great salon but I had a particularly unfriendly experience today. I went in this afternoon and asked to do a conventional bed. They were both occupied so I asked if I could do a medium. The employee told me the bed numbers available and told me that the bulbs had just been changed in two of the beds. I picked one and asked what the full time was. I asked to do the full time and said I would jump out if it got too hot. But then she told me she didn't want me to burn (I don't have fair skin and I have a good base so I found this odd that she was telling me this). She then asked me which lotion I was using. I forgot the name right away and said, "I'm loved or be loved". She kind of laughed and said, "what!?" it sounded like she didn't believed me (I checked the name when I got home, it's "Be Loved"). It's a lotion I've used for a while that I bought online because it's less than HALF the price of the lotions they sell. I felt like I was pleading my case to this employee who's probably 10 years younger than me. I told her I put it on at home. (I hate getting lotioned up in the tanning rooms so I put it on at my house if I know I'm going to tan that day). It felt like she was judging me or didn't believe me. Then she asked if I had my eyewear. I told her that I did and she said, "Can I see them?". Are you kidding me!!! The level of distrust this employee was showing was ridiculous. I would have no problem if that was a Desert Sun policy that they check to see if you actually have eyewear - in fact, it would probably be smart to do so. However, I have never before been asked to prove that I have eyewear. I pulled them out of my purse and showed her. She then seemed to try to play it off and told me that when she asks some people, they say they have eyewear and then they don't so she has to tell them they can't tan. She started telling me how it's so bad for your eyes and asked if I knew about that. I said that I do, that's why I have eyewear. As a very loyal customer of this salon, I felt pretty disrespected overall. I had not seen this employee there before. She had a sweet sounding friendly tone, but I was VERY put off by her accusatory questions and statements. It's bad business to selectively distrust customers. Again, if it was a policy to display your eyewear, that'd be one thing. But I have NEVER been asked that before so it definitely did not sit right. I ended up leaving right then and said I'd be coming back another time. I enjoy the employees who are usually there so I'll make sure to check who's at the counter before I walk in. read more

I just moved to this area and have been to 4 other desert sun locations Woodinville takes the cake. Usually the women who work @ tanning salons are a little rude and stuck up, these girls smile are real, and actually have a good conversation with you whenever you're in! They are not sales oriented like ever other location but very sweet and genuine about your situation specifically & give great tips on how to get the color you want Friendly staff, not pushy but actually ask how your day is going. I had a brunette girl help me get my membership package I've never paid a lower price and I've been in and out of DS for 7 years! She was informative helpful and the memberships are great and inexpensive. I strongly recommend them over ANY other tanning salon in Kirkland or Woodinville I've been to them all and like I said before, this one takes the cake! read more

I have had not so great experiences at a couple of the Desert Sun locations but the Woodinville location has been the worst. I received an email coupon for one free week any level beds as a promotion for "inactive members". I was skeptical so I called ahead to see if there was a catch and they said no and to bring it in. So I printed out the entire email and they accepted it. I was excited to be getting free tanning even though they did hound me to buy lotion and a new package every time I went in but after 4 days of tanning I went in with 3 tans remaining and they told me the owner no longer wants to honor the free week because my email address isn't in the system. I was really confused since I received the email out of nowhere and even printed it out and brought it in. I was completley embarrassed as there were other customers in the store and made out to be a liar. Very frusterating and a terrible experience to say the least. I just called the woodinville Desert Sun to hear about their promotions. The first time I called (@ 10:25 am) the call went to voicemail. After listening to the recording....and learning of their hours of operations, I called back. I got a fast talking associate who wasn't interested in speaking to me about what specials they had that might fit my needs. Instead, she suggested the best thing for me to do is to come in. Given I'm not interested in driving around town to learn if this establishment has what I need (it's not like a grocery store for god sake), I asked, "Before I come in, can you tell me what specials you may have for a month of tanning?" Fine if you're a member, terrible if you're just passing through and want to tan, as now they only have monthly memberships. Its clean, staff is friendly enough (for a tanning salon). Usual to DS, they try to upsell or push new products. Parking can be a problem depending on time of day. It is right around the corner from Starbucks, so that's a plus! read more

Out of all the tanning salons I've been to this is by far the best and most promising location. I've been to different company's and they have shut down but knowing this location has been here a long time it is promising to be here for awhile. Especially with all that they have to offer including body wraps, redlight therapy, and sunless tanning. The girls are all so sweet and friendly. I have been tanning here for 3 months now, and realized that I have been completely ripped off. I signed up for a 90 day package in April. I have tanned at other Desert Sun locations in the past, and have always been a fan. When I signed up in April, I signed up for a 3 month promotion with a free lotion. The price seemed pretty reasonable, but then I was tacked on with a "New Member Fee", I am not a new member, as I have tanned at several other locations before. Today, my 90 days was up, and I asked to put my account on hold. The gal, told me since I am not a member, I was not able to do that. I asked if when I came back for a new package if I will be charged the "New Member" fee again. She told me that I never should have been charged that fee if I have tanned with Desert Sun in the past. and that the gal that signed me up was a terrible and has since been fired. Obliviously, I was frustrated that I was over charged, but at no time was this other gal offering to do anything for me. Not once was a refund offered, or even an apology offered for overcharging me. I will definitely not be returning in a month like I was planning on it. I will be taking my business to Seattle Sun Tan from now on. read more

This location's staff is hard core sales. I asked to place a note on my account to stop selling to me. November 2012, I canceled my membership, instead of canceling, they put me on a monthly hold, which charged my credit card $5 a month. How convenient for them to obtain their sales/membership quota.
