During a severe windstorm this fall, part of our 50 year old plum tree fell down. Due to concerns that the other half would fall on someone, we were eager to have the tree removed. We called a handful of tree removal services. A surprising amount didn't respond, and, among those that did, no one followed-up when they said they would. The sole exception was Tree Cycle. They responded to my voice mail. Showed up when they said they would. Gave a clear written estimate, and removed the tree on the day and at the time that they said they would. The yard was also left shockingly clean. Finally, the final price was exactly what was quoted and was literally two and a half times less than another quote that I received. Tree Cycle just finished their second job working on big trees on our property. Today they took down a large Douglas fir piece by piece. It was dying from root rot. Peter and the crew are highly skilled and did a great job. It was a pleasure to watch them work. They had to be extra careful as our property borders on a city park. These guys are awesome. I hired them to take down a large palm tree (yes, large palm tree) that was dying and we had had for many years. Peter climbed the tree and saw a sign of new growth, so he recommended leaving it alone to see if would make it. His crew also cleaned up several italian cypress that had been hit hard over last winter. They left and I never received a bill. Months later, it was obvious my beloved palm had died after all, so I called Peter and they managed to take the entire thing down without disturbing any of my roses that grew around it. Our yard was a challenge to work in, and they were unable to grind the stump, but cut it down as far down as they could. Very happy with Tree Cycle. Peter came by quickly, went over everything with me, and gave me an estimate that I was happy with. I needed some pretty significant work done - one good-sized maple taken out completely (due to rot at the base) and some heavy pruning of a large douglas fir, in addition to taking out one stem of a medium-sized birch tree and pruning a variety of smaller trees, grinding out a few stumps, and ridding me of some problem wisteria. The estimate was better than one I had gotten from a different company. While I wouldn't go on that alone, Peter was very pleasant and made me comfortable that he knew what he was doing and was advising me honestly. Tree Cycle able to schedule the work for about a week and a half later. Peter and three others showed up just before the scheduled 8:30 am, and I was impressed with how skillfully and quickly they took down the maple and pruned high, heavy branches from the douglas fir, getting everything down without scaring me that they would damage the house, power lines, or other things below the douglas fir. They did a good job of cleaning up afterwards (though I did have small twigs being flushed out of the douglas fir for a few days after). One of my neighbors had hoped to save some of the wood for firewood, but Tree Cycle was chipping it all and had apparently already arranged to sell the chips to someone, so if you hire them and hope to save any of the wood, you should negotiate that up front. Also, I was there for the work, both out of interest and in order to be able to answer any questions that came up since I had them dealing with some many different trees. There were a few clarifications at the time (and a couple of items I added, such as the wisteria), so I think it was a good thing for me to be available (not to mention it was pretty impressive to watch). No surprises on the final bill and I'm quite happy with the experience. read more

We received 4 quotes to either limb or remove three 100ft trees from the side of our yard. Their quote to remove was less than what we were quoted just to limb. Peter with Seattle Tree Care removed a good sized tree from my property last year, took everything away and did not cause any damage - couldn't have gone better. But when he really shined was after the city of Seattle imposed a fine of over 10k on me several months later for supposedly removing an exceptional tree, following the complaint of someone in the neighborhood and a questionable analysis of the tree's former size. Peter sent a couple detailed emails to the city and successfully argued that he had measured the tree before cutting it and that it was smaller than the exceptional size cutoff. We've used Treecycle twice now, once a few years ago to take down two large trees and again a few days ago after the latest wind storm. Peter and his crew are amazing! They're prompt, courteous, professional and did exactly what they promised. During the storm last weekend a huge limb partially broke off one of our trees and lodged itself in another. I couldn't remember the name of the company who had done the work before, but found it after searching through my records. My husband emailed them with a couple of pictures and Selena responded almost immediately saying that Peter would be out that afternoon to assess the damage and give us a cost estimate. We were very surprised, as we expected it to take much longer because of all of the storm damage. Peter showed up as promised and told us that the damage was much worse than we'd thought and that he'd take care of it that very afternoon. The tree had to be accessed from a neighbor's yard, so he met with them first to explain the situation. A few minutes later the big truck arrived and Peter went up in the basket with his chain saw to the top of the tree. This guy is amazing! I watched in awe as he whipped that chain saw around like a ninja. He carefully dropped everything onto our side of the fence, as not to inconvenience the neighbors. After the giant, dangerous limb was down he cut several feet off the old tree, then artistically finished off the top with his saw to make it look like it fell over naturally. A few minutes later he came to the front door to let us know the project was complete and that we'd receive the bill via email. We have a lot of trees in our yard and I'm sure we'll be using their services again -- no need to call anyone else! read more

We have a large Deodar in our front yard that was due for a pruning. Ashley was able to send out a large friendly crew right away, and they were very thorough in their work and very clear in their communication. Two days later, Seattle had a lot of very wet snow fall and a 8-10' branch broke off our tree. I hired Seattle Tree Care to do trimming (for light and safety) as well as cutting some trees. They were a breeze to work with, very friendly and professional, and came up with a great plan to solve my tree problems. They were easy to schedule with (within 2 weeks of agreeing to hire them), reasonably priced, and did an excellent job. Reasons I hired them: very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional tree experts, excellent availability, well priced, all-in-one service (cutting, trimming, haul away, stump grinding, etc), and they were very respectful of my wishes while making sure the trees got what they needed. All the trees we discussed were excellently handled, and over time, will become much healthier and more attractive trees - which is outstanding as some of the trees on my property are many decades old and were poorly maintained prior to my arrival. We just had Seattle Tree Care come out and prune three of the trees on our property and they did a fantastic job. In fact, they probably did more than we initially thought needed to be done. They responded to my initial online inquiry very quickly and had someone out to inspect and write up a bid within a day or so. I think I had the bid in my email inbox within 15 minutes of meeting with them. It was a very competitive bid and their communication was great. Actually I'm still waiting to hear back from another company, not to be named, that I requested a bid. Goes to show how important good communication and customer service is. Our head arborist, Adam, was great. He kept checking with me to see how everything looked and if there were any other branches we wanted removed. I learned more about my trees in 15 minutes than I could have from hours of research. Turns out, the trees I was worried about are not in too bad of shape at all. I recently requested proposals from several local tree services in the Seattle area. The TreeCycle quote was the lowest and looking at a couple of thousand dollars worth of work, went with the lower bid. The job required the trimming of five large trees and the removal a very large Eucalyptus tree. The work crew arrived and undertook the work in a well planned, team coordinated, and efficient manner. The job was completed in one day; trimming, debris removal, large tree taken down and removed and cleanup to my property to my satisfaction, even with inclement weather arriving in the afternoon. I wish I could comment on tree pruning and removal services, but unfortunately I received a we-don't-want-your business-because-we-are-too-busy response to my inquiry. (Although unwelcome, the response was polite.) I work in the service industry, so I found it odd that they did not inquire about my timeline for pruning and removal, or, at a minimum, suggest other options. The prior owner of my home recommended Tree Cycle for work they had done on our trees earlier, so I thought it would be a welcome inquiry and business continuation. These guys got the job done, but we ended up with a trampled garden, broken fire pit and holes in the top of the compost bin. They were on time, honest, and worked hard. However, as much time as we have put into the yard to get it started, having to start over with some of it is difficult.
