We were recommended by a&be bridal shop to have Devon Yan to do some alterations on my daughter's wedding dress. We were so excited as Devon came "recommended " When we entered the shop it seemed in disarray, one guy sat at a table on his phone never looking up (Will the dry cleaner, word of caution, don't go here for dry cleaning) We met with Devon. He was pleasant and seemed knowledgeable and agreed to the task of fixing my daughter's sample wedding dress. I was very put off when he asked for $1700. To do the job, and wanted $700. Up front. I don't get wedding dresses altered every day so I don't know? My biggest mistake. We went ahead and trusted Devon. With each meeting and dress fitting, we felt more confident as he paid attention to detail and (again) seemed knowledgeable. I decided to bring my mother of the bride dress in to bring up the front of the hem and put a slit up the side. Pretty simple right? Not for Devon apparently. We're having a tough time with this venue. My wife was exited to give them the business to clean the dress. We dropped it off the dress on August 1st and we did not hear from them. We tried to get in contact with them on November 1st and she did not hear from them. We then visited them in person the following week and we were told they had been having conversations with the wrong person about our dress. They promised the following week we would have the dress due to a long day for boxes. We are now three weeks from that discussion with multiple voicemails and still no response. We put down 500 for the cleaning. Such a disappointment we just want to know where the dress is and when will get it. read more

I am writing this review, not just to record my negative experiences with Seattle Wedding Dress Specialists, but also to warn future brides and customers about this shop's consistent lack of communication, dropped timelines, and lax final product. We are truly disappointed with the service we received across all fronts, it is inappropriate from any business, especially one dealing with such priceless and sentimental pieces, and we cannot recommend this shop to anyone. My wife and I scheduled a wedding dress cleaning consultation for each of our dresses for April 13. We met with Michael, who mentioned the dress cleaning should take approximately 6 weeks and they would email us when they were done so we could schedule a pick up appointment. We dropped off our dresses and paid the cleaning fee up front ($303 for each dress). Six weeks later I hadn't heard from the store yet so I called the number on the website, it went straight to voicemail. I never got a call back so I tried to reach out again over phone mid-June and I also sent a message on their website's contact box. No response. Mid-July (at this point 13 weeks after we dropped off the dresses) I just decided to show up to speak with a real person and get an update. Will was there, I explained the situation and he said his dad was covering for him before and we wasn't great with technology, so he probably put our information in wrong and that was why we didn't get a message. He also said since we were two brides that he probably got confused when entering the information. (An aside, but a different review on google mentions that you have to enter your email and phone number to make a consultation appointment to begin with, so echoing that, no sure why they didn't have our information on file). I mentioned that my calls were never returned, so Will gave me his "personal" number so I could get a direct response in the future. My dress was ready to take that day, but my wife's had a small tear on the seam where the hanger strap was. It was now repaired and now it was waiting for the final cleaning. Will said he would move it to the front of the line so it would be ready that Friday for pick up. We never heard back about pick up that Friday. Now August (17 weeks after we dropped off the dresses) I reached out to Will's "personal number" for an update on my wife's dress with no response. I decided to drop by the store again and this time Devon was at the store meeting with a client for alterations. I apologized for the intrusion but explained the situation. Devon called Will and said Will would message me with an update shortly. Immediately I got a text back. Will mentioned needing to complete the repair (that I was told a month ago was already completed) and that the dress was just awaiting pressing. I was told it would be ready to pick up that Friday. We never heard back about pick up that Friday. The following week I messaged Will explaining my concerns with the consistent lack of communication and delayed timelines. No response. At this point there was a real risk they had lost or seriously damaged the dress because of the radio silence and lack of tangible progress on the dress. To get some answers and finally see the dress in person, we decided to schedule a consignment appointment for the following week, just to get in the store and hold a time slot where we wouldn't interrupt anyone else but we could also talk directly to the owner. Will saw that appointment and reached out day-of to see if we were seriously considering selling the dress. I replied no and that we just wanted to get the dress. FINALLY it was ready to be picked up. 19 weeks later. Nearly 6 months instead of the original 6 week timeline estimation. Requiring me to call and text and message and show up at the store to get any update at all. Kicker is, when we went to pick it up, it wasn't even Will there but Devon to hand over the dress so we did not have the chance to air any of our grievances in person. We were happy to pay the $300 each for what we thought would be quality and professional services. What we were met with instead was radio silence, infinite delays, and a mediocre cleaning job. That's right, my wife's dress still has dirt stains and spot stains. And the repair that took them months to complete is bulky and noticeable. At this point the $300 feels way too much for what we received, but I don't even have the energy to argue for a refund since I just wanted the dress back. Potential customers, take this warning to heart and do not give Seattle Wedding Dress Specialists your business or your precious wedding dresses. They cannot be trusted. I am completely appalled by Seattle Wedding Dress Specialists and their lack of the quality customer service that I would have expected from the previous reviews. I dropped off my bespoke, couture wedding gown made with heirloom and imported fabrics to be preserved under Seattle Wedding Dress Specialists' care in March and was given an estimated 6-week turnaround. Understandably, this process may be time-consuming, and I wholly trusted their ability to deliver their promise after speaking with Will Erstead, one of the co-owners. The total cost for cleaning and preservation was $898.54. Half of the cost was to be paid upfront, and the second half was to be paid upon pickup. On April 30th, I received an invoice for the second half without any status updates. I expected a general update at the 6-8 week mark, but after hearing radio silence, I attempted to call multiple times (goes straight to voicemail, with different messages); left voicemails that were never returned; sent emails that were never returned; sent messages via Instagram (since their post comments are disabled); and had my partner drive by to check on the status. I was filled with dread and anxiety, thinking the worst when I never heard back -- was my dress damaged? Was it stolen? Why wasn't anyone answering my inquiries? The website instructs customers to schedule an appointment to pick up their dress, charging $50 even if their dress is not ready. I showed up without an appointment on the one day that I saw someone in the storefront. (From the website: "Choose this option if you have received a confirmation message that your dress is ready for pick up. If you have not received this confirmation message, please contact us to check the status of your dress service. Due to high demand, there will be an additional $50 fee for more than one re-scheduled pick-up appointment."). I waited for an appointment to finish up and expressed my concern that I hadn't received any communication from the business. Hearing my dismay, the customer in front of me was concerned about the timeline and asked Mr. Erstead about timeline expectations. Mr. Erstead placed the blame on their storage box vendor and did not address the business's lack of communication and failure to meet customer expectations. I asked to see my dress before it was boxed up, and Mr. Erstead hurriedly and covertly boxed it up in the back. I repeatedly asked to see the dress and once again addressed my concern about the business's poor communication, and not once did I receive an apology. Mr. Erstead unboxed my dress, only for me to see that there were stains on the hem of my dress, a broken silk button from the back of my gown, and pleats from my silk chiffon train flattened out. The gown did not look like it had undergone any professional cleaning, and I cannot be completely assured that it had undergone any preservation. It felt like Mr. Erstead had hoped I wouldn't see the damage. Seattle Wedding Dress Specialists would benefit from improving communication, setting realistic expectations, sharing updates on progress or challenges to build customer trust, and taking full ownership of their mistakes. If there had been any challenges or roadblocks that kept them from delivering on their expectations, I would have understood entirely had it been communicated. Instead, I was left to wonder, agonize, and expect the worst. When I was reunited with my dress, I was aghast by the condition of my gown. For many of their customers, a wedding gown is a timeless, priceless treasure that has been entrusted under Seattle Wedding Dress Specialists' care. They have done a great disservice to me, and while I was offered a refund for their failure to meet expectations, I cannot recommend their service to anyone. I implore you to consider finding an alternative business if you wish to have your wedding dress cleaned or preserved. Not only did they tailor both of my wedding dresses perfectly, they were also able to create a beautiful veil out of fabric from my moms old wedding dress. I got both of my dresses second hand and one had a hole in the lace on the back and they were also able to seamlessly fix the hole in this antique dress. Even though they see lots of dresses, they made mine feel unique and important. It certainly is not a cheap process but gives me peace of mind that my dress will last into the future. read more

I brought in my mother's 1988 wedding dress, complete with puffy sleeves, to be cleaned and altered so I could wear it. It turned out even better than I could have imagined. Kathleen was my tailor, and she removed the sleeves as well as several other features to give me a dress I absolutely loved. They were also able to remove old stains from when it was originally worn 30 years ago. Very happy with the result! read more

Seattle Wedding Dress Specialists did a great job altering my dress. It had a lace overlay with a detailed hem. Since I'm only 5ft tall, it needed to be hemmed quite a bit. They did a phenomenal job matching the pattern back together when they hemmed it, you can't even tell it was hemmed! I also had the straps shortened and the hips taken in a bit, and they added a bustle. I chose an English bustle (because it was much less expensive than the French bustle), but the tailor thought the French bustle accentuated the lace pattern so well that he added on the French bustle for free! read more
