So my wife and I were looking for a catering company some light finger foods for a small reception of about 40-50 people. When I reached out I got a quote back from Corey. Through email correspondence we negotiated for some add ons and take aways. I needed to speak with someone about some of negotiations and I then called and spoke with the owner Cal. Cal was super nice about what I needed and didn't need. He offered his services and little things because he wanted to make sure his company was represented well. I believe the issue came in when Corey arrived to the venue and realized that it was a Lesbian wedding. He didn't stay, we didn't know he came until we say the 2 servers he sent were setting up. The reason for the low rating isn't because the food was fabulous. It was. It was the customer service from Corey. The servers were amazing, they assisted with cutting out cake, making sure everyone was served well and that the food was laid out. When he came back to get the servers and his utensils, he didn't ask us if we wanted to keep the leftovers, he didn't ask how was the service, nothing. They packed up whatever left overs we had and took it. We were super confused when we realized there was no food left for us to take. Food we paid for. He just came in grabbed stuff and left. Then we paid for tea and lemonade, we only got tea and water. I would not recommend them for catering ever. read more

Always pay attention to the red flags. The first red flag was negative comments from friends who complained about the poor quality of food during AKA function in January 2024. Second red flag was doing my tasting and the green beans and Mac n cheese was bland. So disappointed that I used this company for my Silver Anniversary. My husband and I were served first and our food was lukewarm and very bland except for the salmon and mashed potatoes. After speaking with guests we found out that the strawberries were old, fried/baked chicken was dry, green beans and Mac n cheese bland. Cannot believe that this was $30 plates. My guest list was for 100 but only 75 were present. I was told that any leftover food would be packed up for us to take home by Corey but this did not happen. Do not use this company, Columbia has better catering. So disappointed. read more

Precious Caldwell and her team did an excellent job with the decorating of the table and back drop. I appreciate everyone who helped with making my Air Force retirement luncheon an success. Had a friend recommend this to me the other day so four of us went for lunch. I was surprised that there were only 4 Yelp reviews for this place when I looked it up. Since it's mainly a catering business it doesn't look at all like a restaurant from the outside. I never would have known it. Inside it's just like a big cafeteria set up with a buffet line and another line of desserts. Quite a good selection. $11 for the buffet. There was sliced turkey(VERY MOIST and probably the best thing on the menu) with cranberry sauce, large hamburger pattys, Fried Chicken, Pollock fried fish filets, green beans, black eyed peas, scalloped potatoes, onion rings and several other items along with three types of soup( looked like broccoli cheddar and two others). I wanted to sample a little of everything so I had a chicken breast and it was crispy, but not moist and sort of dry. The turkey was by far the best. The fish was good (they had tarter sauce along with it). Tried one onion ring and wasn't real impressed with it. The hamburger patty was also good. All the sides (green beans, black eyed peas and au gratin potatoes) were good with the potatoes being the best. My friend tried the broccoli cheddar soup and said it was just okay. We didn't try any other soups. The waitresses are all over the tables and very good, very friendly. I was impressed with the restaurant. Was ready to give it four stars but will stick with three for now. read more

Once a year, I go to the Annual Meeting of the Alston Wilkes Society here. Just finished with this year's event. As always, we had A LOT of people eating buffet style, with the wait staff providing water and beverages (ice tea for me, of course). There was, as always, another event in the same building, so the only real gripe is driving around looking for a parking spot in the large, fenced-in parking area. All that did was keep me a bit longer from the good old Southern style food which they serve here through their catering service. If you are in Columbia for an event and it is held here, you will not walk (or waddle?) away disappointed on not filled to the brim with good food. read more

Seawall's offers a daily lunch buffet that is out of this world. The day I went they had: turkey and dressing, fried chicken, hamburger steak and onions, chicken fried steak, black eyed peas, green beans, okra and tomatoes, potatoes, broccoli cheese soup, corn muffins, a nice salad bar, assorted desserts and probably a couple more things I can't remember. Price is all you can eat including drink for $10. The atmosphere is very nice and the table service is excellent. Who can ask for more? Check their website as the menu is updated weekly. read more

Seawell's has been renovating their conference center and it is now not only competitive in price, but property as well.
