Form me, and I think for most guys, this is just what your looking for! A beautiful old building with character, great guys running the place, right on one of the best Hudson Valley main streets! Not to mention, every time I get home my wife has always said, "nice haircut, you look good!". I haven't even thought to go anywhere else in twenty years of being in the neighborhood. They made my child stand for their hair cut. Didn't brush the hair off their shirt or face which was a lot since there was no cape used. And BEWARE- no credit cards are taken on Sundays because "they close early" (seems sketchy). Will never return. My husband stopped going as well because of increasingly bad experiences, especially for the price. I can clarify---a seat was never offered to my child to sit down!! A child the same age was sitting that came in after. She was in no way a difficult child to cut. And I would imagine it's easier to cut a child's hair when they are in a chair that can be raised to eye level instead of trying to cut their hair while standing above them. If you want an excuse for a bad haircut, I guess you can just blame the age of the child. I'm sorry, I have never heard of a "when we feel like it" credit card policy. I took my twin boys to this barber shop. When I walked in, I asked the two workers if they are able to cut hair on 1 1/2 year olds. They said "yes, we do it all the time". My boys have had multiple haircuts in the past and they have NEVER gotten a cut from the hairdressers. They charged $25 for each hair cut which left my babies neck all cut up (see pics). I reached out via email to the owner and got no response. I then called the barber shop to ask to speak to the owner or manger on duty. The women who answered the phone said the owner was on vacation for two weeks. I then asked to speak to the person in charge while he is away. The employee said no one is in charge while he is gone and then hung up on me. I called back again to ask for her name and she initially told me "I'm too busy to talk to you". To update my review from pre-COVID: - They now take credit cards. Prices also have gone up to $30 for a regular haircut, and it's worth it. The quality of the haircuts make it a fair value; using my credit card is a major convenience (especially since it's contactless); and let's keep in mind that these folks lost a fair amount of work during the peak of the pandemic. Please tip well: they've earned it. - I've been going here since 2016, and the quality of my haircuts has ranged from pretty good to stellar. I never have waited on any particular barber because they all know what they are doing. - Their attention to COVID safety is excellent. Everyone wears masks. No one waits inside. They are practiced at giving you a good haircut while your mask remains on. They take your number on a waiting list, and I assume that also could be used for contact tracing. I came to Sebastian's a couple years ago for a haircut. I'm not sure what his name was, but the guy who cut my hair did an awful job. I was told by my friends that I looked like Jim Carrey in dumb and dumber. Came back about a year later, and the woman that cut my hair did a fantastic job. She was wonderful and very personable. I'm not sure who the man is that cuts hair there, but he cut my hair again recently and once again, did an absolutely awful job. He did not speak a word to me, and seemed far more interested in his other customers coming in to get haircuts. Although I did not look like Jim Carrey, it is almost impressive how badly my haircut came out. For those asking; why didn't you say something at the barbershop? Well, my hair was left wet and combed off to the side, almost as if the man cutting my hair decided he had done "good enough" and stopped halfway through. I've been trying to find a good local barber since moving from Queens and based on the reviews here, tried Sebastian's. I left with a bad haircut and a sour taste in my mouth. When I got there, there were a few people ahead of me. The female working that day (I did not catch her name) was finishing up a customer. When she was done, a young boy was up next. As his mom took him to the chair, another barber, Corey, interjected saying he would cut the boy's hair as soon as he finished his current customer. Another person was ahead of me, so I looked at her to say you're up next, but she also said she would wait for Corey. So I headed over to the female barber. I said I wanted a 3 on the sides and a little longer on top (pretty sure 80% of people with short hair wear this same style). She nodded but spoke broken English so asked a few confirming questions to make sure we were on the same page. Everything seemed on the right track. I can't see without my glasses so had no idea how it was going but she started to struggle once she shifted from using the clippers to using scissors. A lot of pausing and checking and changing tools. This was when I realized I made a mistake. After about 20 minutes, she said she was finished and for me to look at my hair. Oof. It basically looked like a 90s bowl cut abruptly meeting patchy hair on the sides and barely a trim to the hair on the top of my head. The little flaps of hair in front of my ear were rounded on the right and looked like a ekg on the left. At this point I figured I'd just pay and get my old barber to fix it. I was expecting her to put a little product in my hair and then I'd go about my day. But she just took the drape off and sent me on my way. I headed up to pay and took out my credit card. It was my mistake for not knowing it was cash only, but when the barber who did not say one full sentence to me the whole time replied in perfect English that the closest atm was at the 7-11 up the block, I got the feeling this has happened a lot before. Maybe they could make it more clear about cash only. I headed to 7-11 for money and got a text from my wife that we needed pampers. When I got back to the shop to pay and knowing I now was not going straight home, I asked if I could get some product to put in my hair (still can't believe I had to request this...). The barber tried to sell me some product and it was clear we were talking past each other. She turned to Corey for help who explained what I wanted. I said I could do it myself but he offered to help. Once Corey was done, I headed to my car to see how things looked in the visor mirror as I could see much better there. This is when I discovered Corey essentially glued my hair clippings to my forehead with pomade. This is the guy everyone was waiting around to cut their hair and he couldn't even get pomade in my hair nicely. Aside from that, neither he nor the other barber working (who I believe was the owner) made any effort to fix what was a pretty obviously bad haircut. I have seen my regular barber who is not the owner but more senior in his shop, stop customers from leaving if something needs to be fixed. Overall, this was a really disappointing experience, and I would not go back. I think it was a fluke that there is a barber in the shop who is out of her depth, but given the fact that the most requested barber that day also mucked things up, I don't think a second chance is warranted. read more

If a zero star could have been given it would warrant this highly unprofessional so called "barber shop". Let me start with the worst of the experience... my barber (I'll call him the butcher) CUT MY EYEBROW IN HALF AND CUT MY EYELID TO BLEED. You read that right. Cut my eyebrow in half and cut my eye lid enough that I was bleeding. As you would imagine I was angry and when I left I shut the door hard but certainly not even close to breaking anything but the guy next to "the butcher" in chair one came running out to yell at me to not slam the door. I went back and "the butcher" was right there behind the ballsy guy. I proceeded to tell them that this is the most unprofessional "barber shop" I've ever been to and that he needs to go back to barbering school. They kept saying it happens, it happens. IT HAPPENS?? At barber school maybe.... That's a beginners mistake and this guy should not have scissors or clippers in his hands. I doubt he was even trained. Not even a straight razor around the edges of my haircut. Now even after this horrible experience the next thing that came out of this guys mouth was unbelievable. "The butcher" said that it looks like my other eyebrow (which is admittedly thinner than the other) but I said thats because I have a scar in that one and hair doesn't grow there like before. His comment? "WELL NOW YOU HAVE A SCAR ON THE OTHER SIDE". Unbelievable!!! NEVER go to this place - UNPROFESSIONAL AND AMATEUR and should be shut down. read more

Maskless, poor covid hygiene. My partner has had great cuts here. The cuts are not the issue. Yesterday we went to the shop and they said they could see him. I remembered this place and thought the hipster dudes with the long beards would give good advice and set me up for a great cut in the future. But they were gone and instead there were two women with limited english-language skills. This place is awesome. My go to shop is about half an hour away and that makes it inconvenient, so this is the next best spot. I got my haircut for my wedding here because my other shop didn't have power, but I'm not the least bit unhappy with the results. The guys that work here are really cool and it feels like a fun neighborhood hangout shop, rather than a "get in and get out, we don't care too much about you" kind of place. They're also really worth the money--$16 for a haircut and beard trim. You're going to go to the mall and spend at least 12 or 13 for a piece of crap haircut anyway, so come here and spend the extra money for a haircut you can be proud of. The ONE thing I wish they did was straight razor on the sides. That's the one thing that puts my other go-to shop over the top, but Sebastians will no question become my go to shop because the overall experience and finished product are about 9.5 out of 10, and it's super convenient. read more

Sebastian's Barber Shop in Tarrytown is fabulous!! The interior has a great hometown feel to it that makes you feel like your going for a visit to chat with some friends. We just took our 13-month-old son to get his first haircut and it went so well!! We're first time moms, so we were nervous and delayed it as long as we could until the ponytail was just too long. Peter was the best barber; he has experience with kids, and was great at communicating to us what we needed to do to help him cut our son's hair and he talked with our son to make him feel comfortable, too. We loved that he let us have toys and other things on hand to help distract our son when needed - instead of feeling like we were crowding Peter and his craft, we felt welcomed. Trust the low ratings! I made the mistake not to. I'm absolutely appalled by the hair cut I received. I asked for a fade on the lower backside and a trim on the top. The barber clearly doesn't know what a fade is. He just started removing hair (no fade whatsoever) and made the sideburns above the ear (who does that!?). Also when he started trimming he was basically ripping hairs out with his scissors. I should've known not to trust the barber with the troll haircut. Save your money and time by going somewhere else. If this place wants stay in business, the owner seriously needs to hire professional hair stylists. I'm infuriated in how a barber can be so incompetent, and absolutely not listen to what the client asked for. The only good thing this business has going for them is the atmosphere and location. Sebastian Aliberti is the only man I allow to touch my hair. I've been going to him since i was in 6th grade (college freshman now). In fact, for my senior prom Sebastian dropped everything on a busy Friday afternoon just to make sure I got a speedy and very well done hair cut so I could be on time. He is a fantastically talented barber and hairstylist and is always very in touch with what is in and has the amazing ability to make anyone look and feel fantastic. I myself have always had very thin hair and Sebastian goes above and beyond to give me a cut that makes the best of my hair type. The other barbers that work with him are just as great, as Sebastian trains them himself on a regular basis. They are all incredibly knowledgeable on a variety of subjects and getting a hair cut is never more interesting than it is here. The amazing thing about this shop and this man is that never have I seen a single person walk out disappointed with their cut or with the fantastic service. I am very proud to have watched Sebastian open up his own place and develop into a booming Tarrytown and Westchester staple. His shop may very well be one of if not the best barber shop in Westchester. Worst cut I've ever had and overpriced. I normally go somewhere else that isn't open on Saturdays but live close by and it couldn't wait until Sunday so figured I would give them a shot. I had been to this place in the past and the two main guys, Sebastian and Corey have both given me cuts before. Neither occasion was great but it was decent, and good enough for a basic trim. Most quality places use hot shaving cream and a straight blade for a precise line up without even having to ask or charging extra. You won't find that here. This time I had someone other than the two previously mentioned known long timers, and it was down right awful. The guy disregarded the style I requested, then butchered the back and told me it was due to my natural hairline. He then had the audacity to ask if anyone had ever held a mirror to the back of my head before, after I had expressed my displeasure... "yeah dude, I've been getting my hair cut for almost 30 years and never left with uneven zig zags on the back of my head." I still paid and left a tip against better judgement but needless to say, I will not be going back. read more
