Several months ago, I (barely) walked into Sebastopol Physical Therapy with excruciating back pain due to severe spinal stenosis. I thought that surgery would be my only option. Thanks to Shirley's constant encouragement and help, I am now virtually pain free, have very good mobility, am able to be back to doing regular cardio work and am continuing to improve every day. The whole team at Sebastopol PT is amazing, the office staff is proficient and kind and the therapists are top notch, especially Shirley, the best thing I can say is I trust her 100% and that's not something easily earned with me. I tried to make an appointment per recommendation of my doctor but when you call, you need to leave your information because they are too busy to answer the phones and they are supposed to call you back. Ya, right. Never received a call back. Went to the offices but you are not allowed to enter due to Covid (I guarantee you they are going out to dinner in restaurants and socializing so Covid is an excuse not to actually work). I actually went to someone else who actually does answer their phones and wants work. read more

This therapy group try's to push u out of therapy if your not getting better, which is against the law, and in violation of a 2012 class action against the Secretary of the U S Department of Health & Human Services Agency. If one speaks up about that, then the owner starts to guilt trip you. I've experienced this first hand. I recommend going elsewhere. read more

I chose this office because I wanted personal focus and people who had the time and expertise to help me with my frozen shoulder. I had been to more corporate-type PT offices in Santa Rosa, where the PTs would give me exercises and then leave the room while I did them. So impersonal! I needed someone to do physical manipulation, and to show me how to move correctly so I wouldn't re-injure my shoulder. Sebastopol Physical Therapy is a warm and homey place full of caring and knowledgeable people who had real concern for my well-being. I've seen them for a couple of months, and the range of motion in my shoulder is almost back to normal. We also discovered that my mouse, keyboard, and chair were causing the problems with my neck and shoulders, and I've been able to make changes so that my shoulder doesn't freeze up again. I really enjoy Steve, Meghan, Sarah, and the entire staff. It was a great experience, and I recommend them if you want to get to the root of your pain or injuries and get better! read more

I have received excellent PT work, excercises, and instruction in self-care here, post hip replacement surgery. Ann Sabine and Steve Lovett have different styles and strengths ; thus, utilizing each of them for different appointments over the last several months has helped me immensely. I've been receiving physical therapy at this office for the last 5 months to augment my recovery of a knee replacement done in January, 2018. I've been very pleased with the care I've received. I was assigned 2 different therapists at first and then worked with one for the last 4 months. I so appreciated having just one therapist who knew my needs and followed my progress carefully. He was knowledgeable and supportive, especially when I wasn't as happy about my progress as I had hoped to be. He chose different modalities of treatment to see how to best accommodate my needs and increase my range of motion. Thanks to his efforts and the first therapist, I have been able to return to many of my activities that I enjoyed before my knee injury and feel confident that I will continue to make progress. I also appreciated the receptionist and the person who serves as a back up to the physical therapists by doing the STEMs treatment and the ice packs. They were both very personable, helpful and encouraging as well. This review is for Joan Miller, pilates instructor, who I have been working with weekly for several months now. She is absolutely one of the best healers I have come across, who goes way beyond just "pilates." She is absolutely amazing! I have issues with chronic neck and back pain (at a fairly young age) and she is helping me correct those habits I have developed. She has all the pilates equipment to help do muscle movement in correct alignment. The great thing is that she gives you exercises to do at home so you learn how to understand your own body and make the positive changes to my own body. Her understanding of the body (and mind) is extremely impressive as she notices every minor asymmetry or area holding tension or misalignment in movement and helps you understand the issue and learn how to correct it. I'm not foreign to movement/exercise since I was a gymnast and have been doing all types of dance, barre classes, yoga, cardio classes etc. However, I was shocked to find that I needed to adjust so many aspects of how to stand, walk, squat, etc, and carry my posture because this was affecting everything from my head/neck to my feet. I am definitely seeing significant improvement and change. She is such a natural healer--her presence and energy is both invigorating and calming, which is what one needs when doing this type of body work. I highly recommend her to anyone, especially if you are finding yourself struggling with musculoskeletal pain. I believe anyone could benefit from working with her. read more

I highly recommend Sebastopol Physical Therapy! Steve, Ann and Megan are complete professionals that treated me for lower back pain. Their service was outstanding and we achieved great results. I was NEVER kept waiting and they made me feel appreciated and quite welcome. At no time were their treatments hurried. At first I was impressed. Then, after my Physical Therapist kept telling me, during Physical Therapy Sessions, that I am not improving, therefore he wanted to cancel my treatment, claiming Medicare would not pay them under the so-called "Improvement Standard". This went on, and on, stressing me out during every visit. Then, come to find out, Medicare does not support this Clinic's so-called "Improvement Standard" approach of dismissing Senior Patients. So, if you are a Senior, or Disabled, and have Medicare, and have a Doctor's Order for Physical Therapy, I do not recommend this Clinic. Look elsewhere, ask ahead of time if the Clinic uses the "Improvement Standard" approach to Physical Therapy, if so, keep looking for a Physical Therapy Clinic that doesn't. I just completed a course of therapy at SPT for back and shoulder pain, and am so pleased with the progress made with Steve Lovett and team. Their sincere care and listening, along with their knowledge of body mechanics and current PT practices, led them to recommend stretches, exercises and changes in my daily actions (like sleeping positions) that brought decreased pain and increased mobility faster than expected. With Steve, I felt like I was never being rushed through an appointment, and that he connected with me as an individual. His humility and sense of humor made it a pleasure to return for each visit. His encouragement and customized hand-outs (sometimes with hard-drawn stick figures - always easy to follow) keep me on track with the regime at home. It was hard to say good-bye! read more

I can't speak about their physical therapy or other services because I haven't experienced them, but I can speak about their pilates instructor, Joan Miller. Simply put, Joan is superb. She goes far beyond teaching me to simply "do pilates" to really honing in on my biomechanical patterns and habits. She has opened up my entire body and has helped me become much more aware of how I move, sit, stand, etc. and the changes have seemed effortless. I'm getting muscle tone that I have been unable to get from 5-6 days a week of weight training. She tailors the session to my individual needs, and she is perceptive, funny, and patient. She is extremely well trained and precise. I drive one hour (one way) specifically just to see her. I'm so lucky to have found her. read more
