I'm 24 now I got sent here at 15-16 and it was a horrible experience don't send your kids to places like these. It's disgusting!!! The trauma I have from here is insane and I'm still working through it. They abused kids and so did the owner Adam! Also there's a video of me having a medical emergency and they didn't do anything and made me pull Home Depot sized buckets and stomped on them and told me it wasn't full enough while I was crying. Left me with lifelong trauma they do not and never will care about your daughter. They say your daughter can graduate within 3 months with hard work but the reality is even if they are doing good they will report to you that she is struggling. your daughter can not openly communicate with you during therapy or by the five minute social calls on level "positive attitude" you are forced to act like you love it there or they shut the call off. it is a horrible damaging place that i would NEVER send any child too. not even my worst enemy read more

My 15 year old was sexually abused over two years. I have tried other facilities but they are geared towards adults and did not meet my daughter's emotional needs, outburst and her dislike for everyone and everything. Second chances did not give up on her they stood their ground and helped her overcome all of her pain. I am a divorced parent and I believe she would have ended up another statistic of teen suicide. They are loving, caring, kind, compassionate and consistent. That coupled with a state-of-the-art, bulletproof approach program is exactly what my daughter needs. They are about holding the girls accountable and helping them understand why they do what they do in such a loving and accepting way. It is about family and change for the better. I love the unique approach to gardening as therapy and how it is used to transfer into everyday living. Plant, nurture, grow and represent, they live by example. The girls work hard, but play hard too!! I love that they volunteer in the community which helps them take their mind off of themselves while having fun helping others as a result. I, myself have learned so much just by watching her grow. The team is made of a lot of different personalities, which is needed to support and have a successful program. Mr. Adam, the owner, is hands-on and is absolutely amazing with the girls. Mr. Brain is incredible with her and calls her out when needed. Ms. Mandy is loving, caring and sweet. Ms. Irene is a superwoman who shows the girls what it is to give it your all without expecting anything in return. It was one of most horrible mental health group i have seen. The residents at the group home was constantly being starved. The food intake for the girls was definitely not a enough for daily normal function. And the staff there where constantly make the girl doing yard work and PE. The girls were not allow to wear long sleeve shirts in the winter, where outside is snowing. the heater for the house where off. So that is also considering child abuse. The girls had not right to privacy anywhere not even in the bathroom and their own bedroom. They were camera in the girls room. Watch them 24hrs. The girls was not treated with dignity and respect. They took away the right of human right. The girls was not allow to wear their own clothes, was not allow to talk. As a basic Human right we have the right of speak, decisions on what we do, wear and eat. Mostly important privacy. read more

Brooklyns review is correct after she left The same staff who made me scrub the floors till my hands bladder than put my hands in bleach which show a video of her yelling and making fun of Brooklyn to all the girls and laugh at it which is illegal and against HIPAA laws I left a detailed review on the Google page a few years ago there's a lot of things I still don't remember every now and then I remember some thing now it's been years and it still hurts me please do not send your child here please look for an outpatient program near you where you can still give your child what they need and make sure that they're OK read more

Everyone at second chances is amazing if you are looking for a place to absolutely change your daughters life for the better look no further your daughter will be kept in the safest place and taken care of by amazing therapists wonderful staff and amazing Upper level management the director is fantastic the owner Adam is so sweet and will treat Your daughter like his own and don't get me started on the food it was so good! they have healthy balanced meals and the girks get to learn how to cook. I went to Scinsu about two years ago. I've had a lot of time to process since being there. First things first it was a traumatic experience. For me at least. The staff did not care about my feelings whatsoever. I was 17 and defiant and on survival mode. This is coming from a girl who's had a very rough childhood with abuse. Most times when i would try to talk to my therapist Mr. Brian, he would raise his voice at me for expressing my feelings. There was a particular time when i accidentally bumped my chair into another girls chair and she tried to fight me over it and said she was going to kill me in my sleep and made me feel unsafe everyday. She's also the girl who threw a christmas tree at a staff. i told my therapist i was scared and did not feel safe and he did not care. he brought her into my therapy session and just acted like everything i was saying was a joke. There was 2 girls that ran away and tried to escape. they restrain you and almost sprain your wrists. I have a weak immune system and they would tell me i was faking being sick for attention. not true at all. I sprained my ankle walking down the stairs in the line with the lights off and they told me to suck it up. On the wall they have the principals, one of them is integrity. I feel as if the staff never had integrity or honesty with us girls. overall i recommend sitting down with your daughter and seeing if therapy would be a good choice for her and just ask her if there's anything you could do to help resolve her mental problems and behaviors and resort group homes as a very last resort. read more

My former therapist from when I was in a program works here. Brian, I hope you are protecting these kids better than you protected us. These programs are not what you think nor what parents are led to believe. They will not help, instead, they work on the principle of breaking your child down even further. I was in a program right down the street. Our program used to house people in the second chances building. They BROKE us. when I was 16 and ultimately sent to a program in Mexico. I have physical and emotional scars that will never heal. This programs need to all be permanently shut down. The schools are not accredited nor are the therapists. Parents, PLEASE WAKE UP! All these programs are about is money. They do not have the best interests of your child or your family at heart. Honestly, any parent who sends their child to a facility like this should have their child taken and be charged with abuse, just like the employees. Has no one learned anything from the lawsuits brought against the world wide association of specialty Programs? read more

Read this review to the end if you want to save money!!! I sent my daughter into very incapable hands here. They knew her diagnosis before they agreed to treat her, but had a very confrontational approach that only led to escalating problems and multiple restraints. I prepaid her tuition for 6 months to receive an offered 10% discount and when they kicked her out at the 90 day mark with only a 24 hour notice to me, I had her transferred to another much better program at Turn About Ranch (also in southern Utah) that provided a higher level of therapeutic care that was non- confrontational (you know the saying you win more flies with honey than vinegar). But if you chose to use this program, be forewarned... do not prepay the tuition if you choose to try them because they will not refund any of your money when they throw your child out of the program. Even if your insurance pays and they collect all the money due, they will still not refund any of the money overpaid from the prepaid months of tuition. There is no justification, it's criminal. Just pay month to month. I feel this makes the owner's REAL agenda quite clear... money, money, money! read more

Second Chances has been a Godsend. I sent my daughter there and she spent about 1.5 years total there. It was a difficult decision and a difficult time. Now, thanks to Adam, Brian, Debbie, Tanya, and the entire team at SCINSU, I have my daughter back. She is in school, making good grades, playing sports, and staying out of trouble. A real change has taken place. SCINSU has made the difference. This program saved my daughter's life, and is setting her up to be a successful healthy young woman. I would recommend this program to anyone who's daughter needs help with mental health (depression/anxiety) drug or alcohol abuse or even behavioral problems.
