(No biting or any of that nonsense; he just wiggles and tries to get away.) Well, these guys were not phased and were well prepared for wiggle worms! They treated him kindly and gently despite his protest. When I got him back he was clean, perfectly cut, and looked amazing! I couldn't believe it. I have never seen him look so incredible. Best of all, when he came home he was happy! He wasn't stressed or upset like he normally is after the groomer. This is game changer for him. I could not be happier. We got there at 10:33am and the ladies up front were very nice. We had to wait an hour before going back to a room but they did take our dog back to get a set of vitals while we were waiting. Once we went back to the room we waited another 30 mins before a vet tech came and took our dog back. All the staff were very friendly. Dr. Robertson is who treated our dog and he came in and discussed options, plans, and his recommendations. He was super nice and knowledgeable and I felt like gave us his undivided attention. Didn't feel rushed at all. The vet techs were so good with her too. She got a fun easter themed dressing. Besides the wait time, I was pleased with her care and the staff!!

First things first: this is a good and competent veterinary practise and they've been very good to…read moremy dog. From an animal care perspective, this vet is a five out of five. That said: if you take your large or small animal here, be prepared for extremely expensive visits, murky pricing, and unapologetic billing with absolutely zero consideration as to how a working person will afford their prices. Case in point: I'm a farm hand on a horse and cattle farm. My dog got on the wrong side of a bay mare and got stepped on, resulting in a fairly deep puncture wound. So, called ahead and let them know what happened and I them take my pup to Westwood and explain to them that I want an X-ray of the joint to ensure nothing is fractured. At this point they take my dog for "triage" and will not allow me to attend. A little while later a tech comes out to tell me that they have to sedate her, do an X-ray, and perform a small incision below the puncture wound to create drainage and allow the wound to properly heal. Turns out the wound was pocketing at the joint. Not good because we want wounds to drain, not have the goo collect and create sepsis. Ok, solid plan. About an hour or so later they bring my dog back out, explain the aftercare (cold hosing twice a day; keep her sedate for 10 days, antibiotics, etc.). Up until this point, I'm happy with the care and professionalism my dog and I are receiving. And then they presented me with the bill: $530. For an X-ray, incision, and medication. $530. I was shocked, to say the least. The kicker was when I explained that I'm a farm hand and $530 was just about all the money I had in the world, the woman at the counter just straight faced me and told me the cost was the cost. When I asked about maybe breaking the payment up into two instalments, it was suggested I apply for some kind of third party credit company. What. The. Actual. All I can say is that this is a great practise if you have the money. I was extremely frustrated with the absolute and total lack of empathy or consideration for a working man, the fact that they do all this stuff and rack up a gigantic bill without EVER advising on pricing or options, and then they act as if they're entitled to a month's rent because they did an X-ray, an incision, and dispensed a few medications. I don't know, maybe this is the way with the unregulated world of veterinary medicine, but my experience with other vets has not been nearly as problematic when it comes to pricing. TLDR: if you bring your animal to Westwood in a Ferrari you'll probably be able to afford Westwood. If you're a working person with limited funds, ASK THEM WHAT THE COST WILL BE UP FRONT because they will gleefully empty your pockets.

Christina is an amazing person! I have 2 Jack Russell mixes that hate to ride and hate to get their nails trimmed. They just get so stressed. I saw Second Hand Hearts ad on Facebook and called. I simply cannot thank Christina enough! She came the next day to trim my pups. Ad soon as she came into my home she sat on the floor to meet my pups at their level. She was so calm and gentle with them. It didn't take long for my pups to warm up to her. She did an amazing job and got their nails trimmed with very little stress to them. I am so grateful she is in Staunton we have needed this business for a long time. As long as she is available I will never take my pups anywhere else. Christina is absolutely amazing to my Klover lynn (pitbull).she is always there when I need her day or night and her prices are very reasonable, My Klover lynn just lover Christina and her family we consider her family as our Klover lynn's God parents. Jason was very helpful during the facility tour and answered all of my questions and emails prior, during, and after the boarding. My dog is older and requires a lot of attention for walks, medicines, and specialty food, and Jason took care of everything without making me feel like it was burdensome for him. I felt so comfortable leaving my dog in his care - you can tell he truly Ioves what he does when you see how he interacts with the animals. A positive for me is that the dogs never interact with each other while unleashed. My dog is more reserved and tends to prefer being alone than with other dogs, so this is great he isn't forced to play with other dogs when he would rather not anyways. Jason was excellent and even provided updates promptly when I inquired about my dog while in his care. We have already scheduled our next boarding with him. Excellent kennel and amenities along with reasonable rates and fantastic service!
