This is a video/music reseller- buying and reselling used VHS, DVD and various video game formats. Nintendo, Playstation and other game systems games are well stocked. They also have a very good selections of used music CDs (Rock, Jazz, R&B, rap, etc) and various movie posters. There are some really good deals to be found (I found a couple of titles for $4, two for $8 and another for $3), and they have a pretty good return and buy back policy. Some DVDs were a little higher in price than I could find on eBay or online - so, be prepared to wait and return later for something that looks a little high in price. The one thing to be forewarned about - when I stopped in there were some kinda seedy characters looking around, but the prices were worth wadding through. I just watched my wallet. Still, I found 5 videos and one movie original music CD worth buying, and wish I had bought a couple more DVDs. Second Time Around is a store to buy Video Games, DVDS, and CDS. They have video games from NES, Nintendo 64, Gameboy, DS, and Advance, and any Playstation or X-Box games. They also sell Gameboys, and D.S.'s. They probably also sell console's as well. They have a smallish CD section, nothing to write home about. I'm just not into CDS anymore so If you're interested in CDS you could give this place some thought and check it out. Their main inventory is video games and DVD's & Blu-Rays. though. They have SO many DVDS from movies to TV series. I think you could find anything you want. Floor to ceiling, wrapping all the way around the store. I feel like everything here is a good and reasonable price. Great selection. My whole life driving by this I always thought it was a record store because of its name and logo. There are not any records in this place. Which is slightly disappointing. So if you're stopping in here trying to find records, you're going to be out of luck. Really cool store with a LOT of vintage games at decent prices. Everything was very clean and organized, and easy to see. LOTS of variety. Parking was a little tight behind the building, with only about 10 spaces. I'd give this place 5 stars, except when an employee (short white guy with glasses) asked if I needed help I stated that I was ready to check out and he just said "registers?" very condescendingly and pointed to the registers like I didn't understand how retail worked. There were about 6 people working in this tiny shop and there were two different areas of what appeared to be checkouts, so how am I to know? I have found numerous rare movies here and it is a real gem. Prices are more than reasonable and I always leave with a new treasure. HOWEVER, they need to invest in a carpet cleaner, or at least rip out the existing floor cover and replace it. The place smells like a homeless person's underarm. Horrendous and surreal odors that linger in your nostrils for hours afterward. My visits are always short so I can escape the funk. This store has a great selection of movies, music, and video games. I have bought plenty of video games and video game consoles (which I haven't had any problems with). They check what they buy very thoroughly before they buy it, and even check for fakes/knockoffs regarding games. They will give you a fair amount of money for what you sell. (Better than gamestop) The atmosphere is pretty relaxed and enjoyable. The staff is nice and knowledgable. Prices are fairly cheap, and the selection is great. I highly recommend a visit. read more

This is the best place to go to for used media in the Dayton area. The selection of DVDs & Blurays is huge. However, the CD selection seems to have been getting smaller recently. Pricing is mostly great, but some prices seem like they are priced randomly. Still a fantastic store, and will definitely visit them when they reopen after COVID. read more

The prices are higher than they used to be. I went in there today with my husband & witnessed a rude employee. There was a little girl in the store probably about 18 months old who screamed a few times & he told her to stop. The mom looked so embarrased. I felt sorry for her. Not cool at all. You don't know the reason that child is screaming...she could have Tourette's, be hungry or have a wet diaper. He really stepped out of line & I wasn't the only person in there staring at him I guarantee it. read more

I went here to buy Sega Genesis controllers and they sold me PC gamer controllers. They replaced them with the correct controllers but I had to drive two hours to correct there mistake. read more

Cool independent video game store. When I travel I always look for used video game stores and came upon this one. I usually am on the hunt for NES games, so I would have to say Second Time Around is not the best place to go to buy NES games (the selection is in a glass case by door, and fairly small). I bought a used, but more expensive version of a game. For the record, their USED price is full retail price for a brand new copy from Amazon. The reason this version costs more than TRIPLE what the standard versions costs is because it's supposed to come with an extra full game, 2 add-ons for the main game, and a demo for the sequel. There is no DLC on this disc! Without the DLC this is the regular standard version, for triple the price!! I called and explained the situation and after being on hold for quite a while I was told to bring it in and they MIGHT give me a store credit. Really? It's a 25 minute drive. Does the CHANCE of store credit even justify the trip? I asked to speak to the manager and I was told there are no managers, only shift supervisors. The owner apparently doesn't exist either and the supervisor who makes the decisions wouldn't even get on the phone. I was then told that each day they have a different supervisor and each one has their own rules about returns. *UPDATE* I spoke to one of those "shift supervisors" who calls himself a manager (funny) and he said they NEVER charge people for content they don't get, but then admitted that they did it to me. I asked about bringing it in for a refund and he thought that was funny. He said they have never in 40 years given a refund. The owner doesn't allow it (even if they screwed you over apparently). I asked if I could talk with him and he laughed again saying he hasn't seen the man in many years. I asked "so basically too bad for me?" and he replied "YEP!" So there you go. That's how they choose to conduct business. read more

Great for trading in old movies, cd's, dvd's, and games for different ones. They are now accepting credit cards.

As far as I'm concerned, this is the only place to go to look for used DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs, and videogames. The prices are unbeatable, but more importantly, the items are in fantastic condition. The staff is quite picky on what they take from sellers, so you know what you're picking up is quality. Like anywhere else, you're not going to get a ton for what you sell, but I guarantee the employees will be fair and friendly from the moment you step in. read more

I have shopped at Second Time Around since early 2007. I always find something great and I have bought a majority of my DVDs and Blu-rays from this place over the years. They also have a great selection of video games, ranging from the early '80s to recent releases, along with a good selection of foreign films, Criterion Collection DVD and Blu-Ray releases, plus a variety of albums and posters. The service has always been great and I have never had any complaints. Most importantly I have never had a problem with any of the products I bought. Everything appears to be thoroughly checked for damage and wear before placed on the shelves. read more

I would have liked to give this rating a 3.5 rather than a 3, but I wasn't able to. With that prefaced, I would like to say that this is a wonderful store with only a few setbacks. The stock is great for CDs, DVD, blu rays, video game systems ranging from the classic nintinedo to the modern 360s and PS3s, and the selection of game is just as great. But while their selection is great and there are great buys, their buyback policy is a little tough to swallow. At times, I have tried to sell items that they needed, but didn't accept due to "scracthing." A similar store I visited a few hours later bought them readily. AS well prices can either be very, very good or way overpriced. I have seen single or two disk DVDs with no special packaging going for $12, but I was able to get great buys at $3, $4, or $5. Last Saturday I purchased the Sixth Sense two disk special editiion in the most fantastic packaging I have ever seen for a film (I could have gotten the single disk in basic packaging for $4, but this packaging was just so beautiful and over the top in a good way, that I splurged). If this was new, I have no trouble believing that I would have paid 4 or 5 times as much. I love this store, but the high prices on some of my most desired items and their buyback policy leave a little more to be desired. But then again, it is located outside of a college. read more
