Service was great. The women here were so sweet and helpful. It almost felt like you were at a family gathering with your aunties who all want to know how your day was and if you need anything. Prices were good. There are monthly Thursday fairs that go on tour outside so if you go to one you should stop by this place. read more

Been shopping here for 11 years and have always been treated with kindness and respect. Love the prices and the random rare stuff that can be found. I joined the assistance league ( organization that runs this non profit store) right before Covid because the organizations mission to help the community and the members passion really inspired me. "White women" that work here tirelessly although they no longer live in the community really inspired me. I have read some of the few reviews that claim racism and yet never once have observed this type of service. The prices are the lowest of any thrift store in the city. read more

Found some classic books for half off here the other day (8/30/19). Vinyl records were underwhelming per usual in Downey. Customer service was nice and welcoming, but didn't really know their own prices very well for a variety of items or what was on sale or how to use the POS system. Plastic accepted, but beware they are still operating on some seriously slow internet. It's located in downtown Downey which has quite a few eateries in the area that might interest you once you're done perusing the Halloween costumes, books, and random oddities. Not a place you *need* to bookmark right away, but might be worth a visit if you're already in the area. Fairly small shop! Happy thrifting! Thinking of you, Grams (RIP). read more

Guessing this place would be cool IF WE COULD EVER GET IN! My mom went the first time a few weeks ago and had our two baby dogs in their stroller, they didn't let her in because another ladies dog barked at her and they told her "SORRY, NO DOGS ALLOWED." while the lady stayed in the store with her dog, that wasn't even a service animal. No vest, no leash, no nothing. We stopped by again today, walked in at 1:34pm, 5 girls at front standing there, just looking at us, some lady walks up out of no where and yells "WE'RE CLOSED, WE CLOSE AT 1:30PM!!" Like, ma'am, are you aware that Google maps AND yelp state your hours on Saturday are 0900am-2:00pm??? Not even going to bother with this place again. read more

This hidden gem has been around for decades and has suffered through some hard times (including Covid). They have a tremendous selection of scrapbooking and craft supplies--stamps, ink, paper, ephemera, tools, beads of all sizes, polymer bead making, clay, wire wrapping, paper crafts, cross stitch, yarn crafts--endless! read more

Seeing the review that was written 10 years ago about how these old white women act here hasn't changed. I've come here a few times and I started noticing the subtle racism the old white women have towards people of color. They're all talkative and very friendly with other white people but when they have to help a person of color they're very dry with their responses and give off an unwelcoming vibe especially if the customer doesn't speak english. It seems like they see people that don't look like them and treat them as if they are inferior to them. This thrift store needs to do a better job at getting volunteers that aren't racist, this being an issue for 10 years is concerning. read more

Love this store. It's my favorite. The ladies there keep it very clean and organized. They're very nice and keep up with the rules which I love lol. Highly recommend this place. Supports a good cause and I have seen them employ special needs kids. read more

Well, I read the less than reviews, and I didn't see any of what they were talking about. The people there were really nice. And, as luck would have it I should have on half off day, and got Two Groovy pairs of shorts for a whopping three bucks. Things change at these kind of stories every day, and since it is in my general area, I'm going to be stopping in more often now that I have found it. read more

This is a nice thrift store to go shop while visiting downtown Downey. They have sales different days of the week which are posted on a whiteboard when you come in. Today I think was 50% off children's clothing. Good selection of clothes, homewares, and some furniture. I got this little heater for $4.00. Prices are clearly marked and signs that state the prices, no negotiating, be a good customer. Thank you volunteers for all you do. read more

I just left this thrift store, and I will never be returning ever again. Not only did I feel unwelcome every time i walked in, (no greet, no eye greet, or smile) but this incident was the last straw. there was a middle age African american male, (maybe homeless) shopping for books. he walked over to the older ladies at the counter to ask some questions on the items. the ladies seemed extremely terrified, this man was approaching them. as i walked around the store, the comments made about that man, (amongs the staff) made me extremely upset and uncomfortable. Yeah, maybe he was homeless, but he did not deserve that. he was looking around, stood, in line and PURCHASED like any other costumer. these ladies cant run a business if they cant adjust their 1950's white old fashioned ideals. after he was out of the store they STILL continued. there was a friend of theirs who "stuck around" incase he "DID ANYTHING". one of them said, "I thought he was going to take one of the necklaces. (which are ugly and overpriced by the way) NEVER AGAIN. read more

I have been going to this thrift store for about 6 years now, and 4 of those years were when I was in high school and helped out there. Was part of the Assisteens of the Assistance League of Downey who run the store. Always have a positive experience each time I go even after no longer being in the league. This is a non-profit store and by shopping here it helps out the local community and local business. They have some pretty good items and would say their prices aren't bad! Always gives me a vintage feel going there! Always fun to look around on Saturdays when the farmers market is going on right outside. Support local stores! read more

My first experience here and not a good one. Looks like any other thrift shop, but didn't get the chance to look around. I went with family and as soon as we stepped inside, we were rudely greeted by a white-haired lady. She touted that the store was closed and proceeded to shoo us away like flies (hand gestures and all). I understand if the store was closed, but there's a polite way of doing things. It was very rude of her to treat us that way, and embarrassing for my family as the patrons of the shop looked on. read more

I've been coming to this thrift store since I was a child. The store is pretty well organized. There's books, shoes, handbags, furniture, clothing, etc. A lot of the items I've found there have never been worn. Great prices too, a skirt right now costs $3, tops $2-$3, shoes $5. Sometimes they overprice things though, but not nearly as overpriced as the salvation army or the goodwill. Anyways, great place to find pieces for Halloween costumes and what not. Donations seems to arrive daily so you can expect new items quite frequently. read more

This thrift store is cool prices are really cheap and they got quite a bit of things there i only wish that there were more options for men's clothing but besides that i went during a sale and got 4 pairs of pants for 8 dollars. I personally enjoy coming here. And i see all these reviews about racist ladies but I've never encountered anything racist this coming from a Hispanic male usually they are nice but i have noticed one of the elderly woman does have the tendency to stare at me wierd with a almost assuming look as if i were to do something but in the end that doesn't make her racist. read more

I come here mostly for nick nacks. Clothing is so old mostly from the seventies. Needs to put more updated clothing. The nicest person in there is the Hispanic lady in the back. She should be at the register greeting people instead of the sour puss they have. read more

I frequent this thrift shop every Wednesday. I went in today with my son to browse around came upon glassware, I saw 3 small wine glasses priced at 50 cents each which I thought would be perfect for my daughter's Pairs themed birthday party. All the other glasses were marked $1-$1.50. I grabbed another item went to the counter and asked the lady if I can leave the items on the counter while I continue to shop. As we walked away my son and I overheard them saying the glasses were priced wrong. Looked around picked up a couple more items went back to the counter to pay and the lady said "I need to talk to you about the glasses" she said they weren't matching glasses" I said "it didn't matter" then I noticed the price on 2 glasses was changed they now had green stickers for $1. I asked the lady if she changed the price on the glasses I clearly saw 50 cents written in red marker on the glasses but now they had a green stickers for a dollar I asked the lady again if she changed the prices and continued to deny then saying "we would never do such a thing, it's 50 cents, we are a non-profit organization all volunteers" Which I understand I just didn't get why they had to changed the prices they lie about it. I calmly kept my cool while boiling inside needless to say I left all my items, as I walked out I said "I WILL NEVER BE SHOPPING HERE AGAIN!!!" To which they replied "I hope you don't!" These ladies don't know how to run a business and clearly have no customer service skills. I advise you thrift shop shoppers to spend your dollars somewhere else. read more
