The thrift store was easy to locate and parking wasn't that bad however we were followed around a bit and the (might have been owner) man who was working asked us if we were buying things as we were looking or cleaning after things we touched on the shelf. This felt off like he was implying we were making a mess and although I did have my daughter with me I was not allowing her to make a mess as he made us feel. As we were checking out the toys he almost took something out of her hands! To use card we were charged $.99 without being notified. Not a big deal but also should have let me know. Cross between a close out of a bargain center or $.99 and a thrift shop, no order , clutter , walked in , seen one old wool coat hidden in between the racks and the first garment that was decent at a quick glance and the price was $80.00 , walked out real quick . We accidentally dropped a doll and apologized but the guy came around and said nothing but he picked it up and seemed upset. The doll was a stuffed doll not glass. I started looking at the display box in the front for a minute, but when I tried to walk in carrying my folded scooter, the owner very nastily snapped and yelled at me, telling me to leave at the front, pointing to some random part of the floor inches away from the wide open door. I ask if he could hold it for me behind the counter instead, he stays with his nasty attitude and shouts at me to leave it in the front, says no one will touch it. I decide to leave instead since it's his rules and no point in arguing them. Instead of simply letting me go he starts to shout at me and berate me as I walk out the door saying NO! LEAVE IT THERE! NO ONE WILL TOUCH IT! etc. If he doesn't want people with scooters, fine, it's his store. But when someone chooses to leave instead of leaving it unattended, (out in the open, 5 inches from an entrance with ZERO security, where anyone walking by can just grab it and run) you do not have a right to shout at, berate and insult them. From what i managed to see of the stuff I was looking at in the front before this, he overprices things, doesn't bother cleaning anything, the display boxes are full of dust with things thrown around. No organizing, no cleaning, nothing. All this plus his disrespectful attitude, shouting and barking instead of just speaking to me like a normal human being makes this an easy recommendation to AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more

LET'S START WITH: This is a thrift store, a very well stocked one that offers everything from books to clothing to knick-knacks, tools, video games... I need not say more because if you can read this you know how a thrift store works. RUDE MAN: Some reviews say that there's a rude guy working here. In three visits, I didn't run across him. W.T.F.? EXPERIENCES: During my first trip, I came with a specific item in mind... a brown, glass ashtray to be used as a prop. So, I looked but, I didnt find it. I did however look through everything in the store except clothing and I found some gems from days long gone by. I went home with my purchase, checked my personal collection of the items, only to return to buy more and I even dropped off some duplicate items that I couldn't sell but, perhaps the shop could. My most recent visit came when I suddenly needed a retro item, once again to be used as a prop. Did they have it? Heck, yes. All three guys working there were awesome. When it came time to pay, the price was $2... for two items. I handed the man a 20 but, he didn't have change. He was going to accept $1.50, if I had it (a simple and yet kind gesture). By then, I found a ten and offered my own kind gesture to show my appreciation and told him to just give me 5 back. I hope I didn't insult him as he immediately refused it. RECOMMEND?: I highly recommend coming to this store and browsing... get to know what they have... if you need something in the future, you, like me, will know precisely where to get it. BUT WHAT WERE THE PROPS I NEEDED?: The first time it was an ashtray then, Atari cartridges and, most recently, it was two VHS tapes. read more

Great packed shop with all sorts of oddities. Lots of staff (some language barriers) and all very helpful. Owner obviously has an eye for all sorts of (probably not valuable, just interesting) treasures. Rocks, jewels, diapers... lots of interesting things to dig through. read more

It's a textbook thrift store. Fully stocked. You'll find anything & everything you're looking for, from collectibles to furniture to dvd's to clothes to toys. Everything If you're not ready to dig in literally, then I'd suggest a more organized shop. Don't get me wrong, it's great. I prefer this thrift store over many of its competitors nearby. I love private owned shops, like this one, that owners are able to negotiate. Aside from this, Prices are low already. The only possible downside I could think of is the owner does have a strong accent which makes it hard to understand him at times. Love this store. But I called this morning to drop off childrens books and clothes, and this old grumpy man outside of the white storage bin was very rude. Said to come back tomorrow when I had just called and said I was coming down and there was a guy who was very nice said I could. I show up and that VERY rude grumpy man told me no. I drove by again just to see that he was helping 2 other cars in line with enormous amounts of stuff to drop off. The man told me they were closing soon. This place is *totally* weird. And I love it. Community thrift store offers pretty standard variety ( and also some stuff that I have NEVER seen in thrift stores). As far as normal offerings it goes a little like this: clothing, books, furniture, housewares, videotapes, wall art, shoes, electronics, jewelry, bric a brac, collectibles and other misc. items. In terms of weird stuff I saw, I don't even know where to begin: I found fire extinguishers, old beer cans and wigs to name a few. My favorite section was the bric a brac and the videotapes. I found an excellent selection of some *incredibly* strange and rare videotapes and some items in the bric a brac that probably should have not been for sale. Given that it is in Huntington Park, there is also a lot of spanish books in the book section ( which is also excellent and extensive AND filled with a ton of weird stuff). So, if that's your jam... it's all here. As far as the prices go, they're pretty good. I found them to be very reasonable. A lot of the items weren't clearly marked but this definitely the kind of store that works with " wheeling and dealing" so it's not too problematic. If you're totally disgusted by dirty messes of junk, then you should probably bypass this place. Community thrift is one of the dirtier thrift stores. As soon as I left I felt that resembled pigpen more than a twenty something girl but that is neither here nor there. The place is a pretty dirty mess but it's honestly a small price to pay for the loot you'll come up with. If you're looking exclusively for clothing, I would not stop by this place. The stuff here was for the most part, repulsive. Keep on walking. If for some weird reason, you find yourself in Huntington Park and are itchin to dig through wizardy weird junk then the Community a Thrift Store is the place for you. read more

Huge store! You can get lost for an hour or so in here with all the small trinkets, antiques, and collectables here. Lots of random vintage glassware and furniture, electronics and clothing galore. Decent prices too. I was there just before closing, which wasn't enough time to really take it all in. Better than the Goodwill imo, and you never know what they will bring in next. I had passed this many times and was skeptical but now I want to make it a regular spot. Kudos to the owners who manage this store for accepting things of value and of decent quality. read more

I've recently gone again and I really did enjoy going. The clothes are great for one and they have discs which are sold for 25cts outside of the store in bins, also you find the cutest framed pictures and so many little art pieces.
