Really nice staff. Comfortable room. Great location to restaurants and shopping and of course Scripps Park. I walked to Windansea from here twice. Bed is very comfortable. Very small hotel with only a few rooms on each floor. Housekeeping's break area was right outside my room and they kept the exit door open as well. Small hallway so had to navigate around people. Neither are a problem. Just awkward. The reviews were right. It is very loud. I brought earplugs and a noise maker. I was still up early every morning because of multiple trash trucks. Would not stay here again because of it. I also don't tend to like staying in tourist areas. I gave it a try. Safe area for a single woman traveling by herself. I had drinks at the upstairs bar. Lovely. Nice bartenders. Giving it a 3 only because of the noise factor for what you pay. read more

We really enjoyed our stay here! As someone who heavily relies on reviews, I will point out the pros and what others could perceive as cons. The staff were absolutely amazing. Courteous and on top of everything. Valet parking was smooth and went very well. Room was very clean, well stocked (I was pleasantly surprised to see the steamer in the closet). The rooms are a little on the small side. This is fine for my husband and I, as we enjoy being out and about as much as possible. The location is amazing. You can walk to just about everything and take a morning stroll along the beach. With that being said, it can be a little noisy at night but we travel with a sound machine so we were just fine! We were very pleased with our stay and look forward to returning! read more

Don't plan on getting any sleep and horrible customer service. From normal conversations to laughing and arguing to yelling, we heard it all. You can hear absolutely everything coming through every wall. The worst was the noise coming from outside all through night. The partygoers walking by, it's like they were in the room with us and then the seagulls screeching in the early morning. We travel a lot and have experienced noise in hotels before but this place is the worst by a large margin! The guy and girl at the front counter didn't give the slightest crap about the problem and acted as if our complaint was too much of a bother for them. We will never stay here again. read more

We had an amazing stay! The in-room coffee machine was hands-down the best I've ever used--fresh espressos anytime was a dream. The hotel is within walking distance to everything in downtown La Jolla, and the ocean views were absolutely stunning. Clean well run. Ideal location, next door to La Valencia for half the price. they have valet parking and everything is walking distance, they also have a golf cart if you can't walk or don't want to walk. Rooftop bar is nice and the view is amazing. read more

What a horrible night's sleep. The kitchen and restaurant was cleaning and dragging chairs and tables across the floor for 2 hours and we couldn't sleep. When we complained to the front desk, the kitchen started playing loud music. My husband went up to talk to them and they were non compliant and rude. The walls are paper thin. read more

The AC unit works great in the room, which is a must now in SD. Friendly service. There is a restaurant on the rooftop that you can order food from your room. The food was very good. I've never had so many things go wrong with one hotel room just for one night. My husband and I stayed here one night for a wedding nearby. We arrived at 3:30pm and given room 101. We were told that the door to our room was out on the street, meaning you had to exit the hotel's main entrance and walk down the sidewalk to access. I asked if they had a room on a higher floor (as I originally requested in the booking) and they said that they didn't see that note until just now and, unfortunately, they were fully sold out. The door to our room was right on the sidewalk of a main street. No barrier and not set back. So close that you can hear the conversations of folks walking by. The only little window in the room sits right on the sidewalk as well so we had to keep it closed. It felt like we were in a basement. The room was also two queen beds instead of the king room that I booked. When I asked about this the next morning, I was told that we were given a "complimentary upgrade" to a queen suite. I never asked for this and, in fact, would've preferred the original room we booked but it was too late for that by the time I asked. Anyways, we quickly changed and went to the wedding. When we returned to the room late that night, the majority of the bathroom was flooded and seeping into the carpeted bedroom. We put our unused bath towels on the floor and I notified the front desk. The front desk man was polite and apologetic but not helpful. They offered to bring us new towels (which we never actually received) and reminded me again that they were fully sold out so they couldn't move us. Did not offer to call someone to fix it or even clean up the mess... so we spent the night managing the mess and the sopping wet towels. While the street was quiet at night, you could hear every movement from each adjacent room. I am usually not very sensitive to noises (I am a heavy sleeper and use a noise maker) and I was awoken several times throughout the night because of people walking around or using the bathroom, etc. The AC unit (which was right next to one of the beds) made a very noticeable squeaking noise when in use. When I went to the front desk to discuss this all with them, they apologized but did not offer anything to remedy. For a room that is over $500/night, this is simply unacceptable. Conclusion: Not worth your money. Go elsewhere. read more

We recently visited the Cormorant Boutique Hotel for a girls weekend trip. The location at La Jolla was superb. The hotel was clean and well furnished. If you are not a good sleeper, please be aware that this hotel may not be for you. It has incredibly thin walls and ceilings and is incredibly noisy! We heard snores, neighbors conversation and rooftop restaurants chairs and tables scraping on floor. The beach view rooms really faces a commercial building across the street rather than the beach. You may see the beach if you get out to the balcony in your beach view room. Imo, this is false advertisement. There were three in our party, we got three rooms. Overpriced for a basic hotel with surface makeover. None of us will return. read more

My husband and I have now stayed here twice and I recommend this hotel to EVERYONE. I am obsessed with the comfort & location of this place. 24 hour valet and convenience store. The workers are so friendly. The rooftop restaurant is DELICIOUS. The servers up there are also so so friendly and accommodating. I would stay here over and over! read more

This hotel is such a gem. Friendly, clean, and the best location you could ask for. If you like boutique hotels, this is the place to stay. I've seen some comments about noise. The property is centrally located in downtown La Jolla where people live, dine and operate their businesses. The city takes regular care of the infrastructure. If that's too much "noise", probably best to stay in a remote location. I couldn't imagine having had a better hotel experience. read more

My husband & I stayed at Cormorant hotel last weekend and we loved it. Location is perfect, I was in love with our little balcony. We had ocean view and you can watch people coming and going. Staff were great, especially Carlos he was very friendly and helpful, he really made us feel welcome!! Rooftop is wonderful with yummy drinks and food, you get 15% discount and very convenient. We booked the Cormorant for the week of our wedding for us and all our guests to stay at. We absolutely loved our entire time there and know our guests did as well! Everyone was so easy to work with, from setting up the link for the room block, to welcoming us and guests. The front desk staff was extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating of all our needs!  The hotel itself is located right in the heart of La Jolla, so it was easy to walk everywhere. The rooms are cute and cozy and many of them have a balcony with amazing views of the water. And finally to top it off, there is a rooftop bar that many of our guests went up to for drinks or food during the weekend, and said the service and views were fantastic.  When we were trying to identify a hotel for our wedding weekend, we looked for one with a great location, nice accommodations, and a boutique hotel where we could take up the entire hotel. I have breezed passed this spot a few times and decided to have a little getaway this weekend and I will say I definitely recommend staying here. They have a nice rooftop bar and the location is great, absolutely stunning view of the beach. There is lots to do in the area located in the heart of La Jolla and is walking distance from the beach. i'm currently a guest. i called down to the front desk. no one answered. i went down and no one was there. so i went up to the rooftop restaurant to ask for some decaf tea. the rooms have only caffeinated tea. the staff treated me like i was a great inconvenience. pretty bad. is this a motel 6? i booked a room on the top floor bc i thought it would be the quietest. turns out its false advertising bc the top floor is the restaurant and people up there are moving tables around and chairs and stomping around . its crazy disturbing. steer clear if you expect decent service and comfort. read more

When you're traveling and things happen, all you want is for things to be easy and nice. Couldn't have asked for a better place or a smoother experience. CHECK IN Smooth - no issues. Stopped at the convenience store and ended up with an unnecessary amount of snacks and a bottle of prosecco ROOM Booked the King, with a beautiful headboard and a TV the opposite wall, lined underneath with a dresser and table. The picture does the room justice - you get what you saw on the website. On entering, there was a small box of scones and a cute thank you card. Random comment: for someone who only ever buys Dove bar soap, the Hermes lemon scented soap was incredible. LOCATION The absolute downtown of La Jolla sitting on a small hill at the bottom of which is La Jolla Cove where all the seals hang out. Scared my girlfriend when she got too close to one of them trying to take a selfie. Once the sun goes down, there are a bunch of great restaurants and bars in the area - we stopped at Shiku (sushi) Pro-Tips: Once we checked out, front desk mentioned that if you want a 15% discount at the rooftop bar, hold onto your room key and they'll honor it. read more

This is a way below average hotel for the price they are charging to stay here. There are so many other better hotels to choose from nearby that are priced reasonably for what you receive. Valet service is pretty limited. On site dining is very scarce. No hotel amenities exist. Very limited views. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere. Location is on a narrow steep hill. read more

HOTEL: The hotel was nice, well lit up and the decor matched the Vibe. It was great to see the storage space under the bed which was needed for a small room. The robes in the bathroom were a nice touch and we enjoyed it. Room was clean and bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately, the biggest issue for us was the valet. We used the valet to check in which was OK but when we had to retrieve our vehicle we waited over 40 minutes because the valet attendant was not available. They had to pull a staff member from her lunch in order for her to get the car for us. It would be beneficial to always have back up staff so that guests are not waiting that long for their car, especially when they've made reservations for a certain time at a restaurant. We missed a reservation and had to make other dinner arrangements. We were also told at the valet would not be available after 9 PM. The second night we decided not to valet due to the major issues and parked on the street hoping that our car would not get towed away or vandalized. As a guest, I would expect that the valet service is there for the guests ease and peace of mind. This wasn't the case. We ran out of toilet paper and towels. Hotel is right on the busy part of town, be aware of loud music at night for nearby establishments. Location is everything but customer service is key as well. BIRDSEYE rooftop bar: This was our first stop for dinner as we had seen the gorgeous view that this rooftop bar offered. Upon entry and speaking with your hostess, she let us know that it would be a 40 minute wait because there wasn't any cutlery available for us. We were a little confused about that statement as we told her we just wanted to have some drinks and enjoy the view. She hesitated and asked us to go upstairs to have a seat at a table. As we sat down at a table, we noticed that servers were getting the cutlery ready and placing it on other tables. Never once were we greeted or offered cutlery. We waited 15 minutes before someone came over and asked if we had been served. While we waited those 15 minutes the other tables were seated and given cutlery before us! How could a restaurant run out of cutlery, when it's clearly visible for other people except for us? I don't want to think that this was because we didn't "fit in" but rather really bad customer service. We ordered drinks, then we decided to order food. We were told that we couldn't get ketchup with our fries because the storage room was closed! The menu did offer great variety of food and drinks were good but the experience could have been better. We would have ordered more drinks but the experience didn't make us feel welcomed. Management was made aware of this, unfortunately they never reached out to me for an apology or to rectify the experience. Customer service failed. read more

Very fast business trip to the SD area, so we decided to go in a couple days early and soak up some SoCal vibes. I'd been through La Jolla before, but had never stayed. Tripped across the Cormorant during our planning, and chose it primarily for the location. Upon arrival to the area, our excitement skyrocketed. The location looked good on the map, but holy smokes ... this location is fantastic. More so if you only got a couple days like we did. Our room wasn't quite ready, so we dropped our bags at the desk and walked upstairs to the restaurant. The views and vibe were great. Service is slow ... apparently there's no "hurry" in La Jolla. But we just sipped drinks, soaked in the views, and downshifted. We checked in and were delighted at the actual room. This is a SMALL, intimate property ... but it has super quaint design touches and it's hip/clean. The room had robes, great storage. Espresso, etc. The little balcony was inviting and we spent a couple hours there split across evenings and early mornings (drinking coffee and such). I'd read parking is an issue in this part of town, and that may be the understatement of the century. The garage across the street was $25 for 24 hours and was EASY PEASY. Breakfast is served much later than I'd have expected in the entire area ... especially on Sunday. Again, there's no hurry in La Jolla. That said, there were wonderful coffee shops with pastries and such within a 3 minute walk any direction you wanted to go. The cove is 2 minutes down the hill. Food and shopping begins right out the lobby door. Drinks, views, and chillax are right up the stairs (or on the balcony). An unexpected plus for the property was the little market off the lobby. Water, snacks, wine, toiletries ... available 24 hours. It's like "Honey I Shrunk The 7/11." Tres convenient and the prices weren't terrible. Bottom line ... I think your experience here will follow your expectations. If you arrive expecting full service and "fast" ... you're gonna be disappointed. This ain't a full service corporate hotel. If you want a stylish/romantic property in a PERFECT location and are good with down-shifting, you'll be delighted. WE will be BACK! read more

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The "village view" rooms are directly off the sidewalk, so the shade can't be opened on the one small window without all passersby seeing into the room. When I asked to move to an ocean view room, I was told there would be a $50/night additional charge, even though the room rate was only $20 different. In the ocean view room, there was constant noise of furniture being dragged across the floor upstairs, with no apparent soundproofing between floors. When I arrived, even though I am a 70+ year old woman, no one offered any help carrying my luggage up the stairs. And when I asked for a fork, rather than offering to get me one from the kitchen, I was simply told that maybe I could get myself one from the restaurant. The rooms are quite small and unattractive. Other than a location right in the middle of La Jolla and comfortable pillows, there is really nothing positive to be said about this hotel. read more
