My servers were really nice and attentive to me, with a good balance of providing my space to enjoy some "me" time I came for. The wine flights are what caught my eye so I tried the one with white wines. I love that they have so many options for them. Plenty of tapas to choose from too, and the sliders and olives paired perfectly with my wine selection. It's cool that you can tell it's a neighborhood gem, because it sees like they had some Sunday regulars which is nice in a city that's growing so quickly and can easily to lose that neighborly feeling.

There is a note on the door that masks are required when entering and when you are not at your table during COVID-19. I was a little turned off to see that the bartender was not wearing one though. You can choose a beer from the draft list or in the cooler section (there is a $1.50 corkage fee). If you want beer for home, there is a small selection to choose from. I wanted to sit outside since it was smaller inside. We got to watch planes pass by as they were arriving at RDU so that was exciting!

The only downside I had was the massive gout in my toe the following day from eating all those large scallops. If you are prone to gout, be weary of the scallops!

What prevents this restaurant from being "S Tier" is that there's nothing unique or exceptional about the restaurant. It is exactly what you'd expect but nothing more. We happened to visit during their 66th anniversary celebration, and every table was treated to a complimentary bottle of Chardonnay--a thoughtful touch that made the evening feel even more special. We started with the shrimp appetizer, which was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. For my entrée, I had the espresso-rubbed filet, and it was absolutely phenomenal--cooked perfectly with incredible flavor in every bite. We finished with the key lime pie, which was the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. The service was flawless from start to finish. The staff went above and beyond to help us celebrate a family birthday, making us feel truly welcomed and cared for throughout the evening. The reason for the low rating is the food. My colleagues could not believe that I ordered the liver entree, but I didn't care, I love liver, and my wife won't fix it. I'd never heard of Mustard-Seared Calves' Livers, but, loving liver the way I do, I was willing to try it. When the liver came out, it looked like a huge pile of greasy slop. I was not deterred and took a bite. The liver was mush; it had absolutely no texture, and the taste was just awful. Not wanting to tempt fate (I have had food poisoning before), I did not eat any more than that first bite. As I mentioned before, the waiter was excellent and removed the offending entree. He offered to put in an order for something else. I opted for the calamari appetizer, which was okay. They comped my calamari and didn't charge for the liver. I hope the restaurant will rethink this dish. I suppose it could have a following, but at the very least, make sure the liver is fresh and high-quality.
