I went to get an ID, had no problems at the Naperville office on Diehl Rd the other day but unfortunately I had to leave for an appointment and I reschedule at this location in Aurora. The wait time for extremely long and when I got the service desk for my ID, the service rep was unprofessional and unhelpful after waiting almost 1 1/2 hours to be called. Never coming back here again and wouldn't recommend. I suggest going to the Naperville office. read more

Everything perfect from the time I walked in until I left. Made the appointment at 6:30am. There were openings all day. When I walked in I was escorted to the correct line where a very nice lady was waving me over. She gave me paperwork for a state id free because I'm a senior. Next around the corner for a photo. He directed me to sit in the main room with lots of open seating. Lots of people were working there. Brought a book to keep me company. Took my test and was out the door in less than an hour with my license and ID. read more

Does anyone really like going to the DMV? I recently visited the DMV in Dekalb as well as this location in Aurora, so my review is 5 stars based on comparing the two. While none of us probably wants to be at the DMV, here's why I am giving 5 stars to this location. As I approached the entry door there was an employee standing there that greeted me and asked if I had an appointment. I had an appointment so I was then directed to go to the first counter to check in. At the first counter I said what I was there for and I got a ticket or number for the next counter. Once you get your ticket you sit down and wait for your number to be called and it's also up on one of the TV screens displaying the line queue and which counter has called your number. The whole process in and out was less than 30 minutes for me and there were a lot of people waiting, so it was busy. I was also recently at the DeKalb location which really needs some funding for upgrades. It is a smaller facility but they are severely understaffed. I could only see a few employees working and one of them was running between checking people in at the front desk and running back behind the counter to work on customer cases. They just yell out your name, they don't really have a ticketing system or a TV screen showing line queue information or which counter. So, if I'm comparing the two locations I would say Aurora is much nicer. We don't always have the ability to pick which DMV location to visit, but if you do you might as well pick a nicer one. read more

I have come to this site most of my life since I was a teenager, and while it isn't always pleasant, it's better than the 75th location usually. Today I was with my daughter to get her license. She already passed the written and the driving part with the driving school and just needed to physically get her license. I had all her paperwork ready to go. I checked online beforehand and while you CAN make an appointment, at no point does the site say this was required. I just checked again, and it does NOT say this. The sign in front of the facility does NOT say this either. We arrived around 2pm and there were a bunch of people gathered by the door. It seemed to me like no one knew where to stand and with not lines or signs about where to stand, it was confusing. Looking through the windows, it didn't look too busy inside so we were happy to wait and thought it wouldn't be too long going standby for what we needed. An officer comes out and is talking with a very confused elderly woman for quite awhile. Meanwhile, everyone standing there seemed to have questions about where to go for whatever they needed. No signs outside except a QR to scan IF you want to make an appointment. The officer starts berating and insulting people for asking questions and accusing people who had questions of cutting the line. No was one cutting anything, everyone was just legitimately confused. There were no signs for lines to form or any information about where to go. But somehow this jerk seemed to think everyone should know where to go. We didn't ask any questions but I was horrified for the people who did. After about 20 minutes of us standing there, he finally tells us to form two lines and announces they are 'done with anything to do with licenses for the day'. AT 2:30PM when they close at 5PM! So confusing and so infuriating to watch human beings get treated this way. The only reason this a-hole has a job is to provide a service for taxpayers and he was actively trying to intimidate people and was beyond disrespectful. I won't be going back to this location and this creep should be FIRED. What a horrific example of the already notable facility people make fun of daily. Time to purge the dead weight of our state workers. There should be a satisfaction survey for all who attend and we could get these slow, unprofessional people OUT and some new, efficient blood IN! This guy is a 100% complete waste, and why is the facility stopping service three hours before they close??? My vote is a 0/5 and I'm not happy I'm being forced to give one star. read more

Went here last week to get new plates and a new license as I just moved to Illinois. I had all my paperwork and was following all the instructions and the workers still had an attitude with me. I pulled out my phone for a second and the lady at the desk shoved a sign at me and yelled "no phones!" I was yelled at again a few minutes later for asking a question. Yes!!! Its is time to go the DMV. Everyone's favorite errand right? No...well... yea, I agree. The location was simple to get to and to find. The wife came to get a new ID since she took my last name. Once you enter, there are two lanes to start your journey. The wait did take a while and eventually we got to the lady who told us where to go. She was friendly, I will give her that Then finally we sat down and waited forever for her name to be called. It was early afternoon and it was already fairly busy. We got to the counter and this lady basically flipped out because we were the 3rd person who skipped the photo booth. The lady at the counter didnt mention about needed a photo or anything like that. I quietly slipped away...back to my chair... to let my wife deal with her. I know, I know..I know im an awesome newlywed husband. Then she walked from behind her desk to tell everyone that if you came for X reason..get your picture taken!!! So about 5 people got up and got their photo taken. I get it...dont get me wrong..it does slow everything down if you dont get your photo taken but dont blame us since it wasnt our mistake if ~10 people made the same mistake and this location was only open for a couple of hours. Overall, we were in and out fairly quick. I do like they will speed up service for the Vets, expecting mothers and elderly. But they should work on letting those who need pictures to be more clearly about it. read more

Went to take the Driver's Test and did the usual and as soon as I walked out the Instructor asked me where I parked and judged me why I parked far. Not only that as soon as he got into the car he started turning on the heated seat saying "I need that" as if it were his car. The whole time he gave me bad attitude and therefore I failed the test. Went to get a title transferred in my name. Not a place to sit so I'm standing. All of a sudden this guy who works there tells myself and another person to find a seat. The guy next to me tells him there are no seats. All of a sudden a family of 5 people gets up and he says "there are some seats." Mind you, I have my three kids with me and they are younger and he told us just to get to any open seat. Sorry but I'm not leaving my5 year old to sit by himself. I than walk up to the line when my number is called and I ask the lady how she is doing and I'm being polite. She says "what do you need?" Lady, you are the only one handling the titles so you know damn well I need something having to do with a title. There was an issue with a signature (no big deal) and she huffed and said you need that line signed and you need to bring two checks or money orders and than rolled her eyes. read more

Aurora's driver services location has always been the very worst. Not sure how anyone could say they are friendly. My mother went to get hard drivers license renewed and she was paired up with the rudest, meanest woman ever to conduct a driving test. She ordered her around and made her feel uncomfortable and then failed her. I try to be objective but these people are rude and insensitive and they prey on folks who are not jerks like they are. HORRIBLE PHONE REPRESENTATIVE! I called because I had to get a new ID before an unexpected move. I got a letter saying they wouldn't forward my ID. I understand. I changed states so I needed to get a new one here. But I called because I paid and never got ( or could get) the ID. Waited 10 mins on the phone for a guy with a nasty attitude to answer. He cut me off with no before I could finish explaining. He gave short answers full of attitude but could barely give out a reason. They have things that you can make appointments for online yourself but if you're not on that selective list of things you'll stand out in the cold for hours to wait until they let you in. Then when you get inside, they make you an APPOINTMENT for an hour or so later so now you go wait in your car for your appointment.. like why did I wait an hour out in the cold for an appointment I could've made myself? After a very long wait on Saturday to get a title transfer and plate transfer we were told that we had to have the previous owner of the car sign a paper. We did that and made it back before they closed and had to wait again. When they finally called our number it was two minutes to noon and the person waiting on us was very rude. She said we close in 2 minutes get your checkbook out. Was it our fault that they are so slow to help people? If I didn't have to go there for certain things I wouldn't. read more

I apparently was lucky and had a great experience getting a Real ID, as that experience goes. Got mine yesterday. Very efficient, took an hour start to finish. Most of the time was waiting to go to the final counter where they process your approved docs. All the employees were quite helpful and pleasant. Seriously they were. So I prompted my other half to get his done. We get there 20 min before they opened today. A lady was sadly being very rude (I saw it happening). She told people unless they had a license expiring to get out of the line. She turned away an elderly couple! Allowed only one half of another elderly couple. She told my other half he doesn't even need a Real ID ( he travels constantly so tell that to TSA). I understand and appreciate pre-checking and telling people they have to come back if people don't have the right documentation! This was definitely not the case. If it's to minimize crowds, if they were told to only process so many docs as of last night, I get it. But at least say that and post it in the line vs being both rude and turning away people prepared to get the process done. read more

Visiting the DMV Aurora is like going to the echelons of bureaucracy. Lines are long, information is limited. They stop processing activities like toad tests or real ID at random times before closing (w/o any published timeframes online). The DMV/SOS office in Aurora is a well run operation. Don't hesitate to use this facility! I did follow the advice I've read online which recommended going on a Wednesday or a Thursday, and I went mid morning trying to avoid the before work or lunchtime rush. It's said to be less crowded during the middle of the month, if you can wait until then. While I had to wait in line outside for 5 minutes or so, I liked that someone came around to make sure I had the right documentation. Everyone I interacted with was very nice. After reading some of the reviews I was really taken by surprise...so much so... that I thought I should Yelp about it (after thanking them all for a good experience). read more

would rate a 0 if i could old cranky lady got mad at me for raising a concern with how she was handling my questions. i appear young and so she rudely asked me who i was to be raising concern about how she's doing her job. i may be young but im 19 im smart enough to know when im being screwed over by a worker. she then told me to get a job and to never come back there. all because she decided to get hostile over my question instead of actually just taking the time to listen to what i was saying. you shouldn't act like it at your job because it's your job to answer my questions. any other dmv in illinois has way nicer staff that don't call me rude names why is she getting mad that she has to do her job. i will be taking further action on this it is absolutely ridiculous and should never have to happen to anyone. that lady should be fired. while she was yelling at me she was also ordering other people around and kept talking to other people while i was trying to talk to her. she needs to be fired read more

Wow, I can't believe no one has reviewed this place yet; I kind of always considered a hidden gem, and maybe I'm not that far from the truth! No one really wants to go the DMV, and I've never met anyone who has enjoyed it, but if/when you have to go, I would definitely recommend going out of your way and coming here. Unlike most of the crazy people who start to line up before the place even opens, I've always gone sometime between 11:00 and 1:00 and I've never had to wait a ridiculous amount of time--as you will at the DMV in Naperville. The parking situation isn't the best, and it's not very clean, but who cares. Also, despite the reputation of DMV personnel, no one I've ever dealt with has ever been rude, and several times I've even had the luck of getting someone who's even friendly. read more

Very impressed with the staff. They were accommodating and friendly for such a busy and demanding place. SO many people there were huffing and puffing because of the wait. Yes, it took awhile however it's not because they did not have enough staff that was working diligently. Remember where you are going people and don't blame the staff because you wait until the last minute to take care of this. I so enjoyed the patrolman who was directing people and making sure they were in the right line. I also thought it was wonderful that elderly, expectant mothers and handicap were brought to the front of the line. I went on a Saturday morning to renew both IDs, change the address, and have "veteran" put on them. From the time I walked in to the time I left was about 30min. That's the fastest and easiest time at a "dmv". That's as good as it's ever gotten for me in all my years. read more

This has to be the best DMV in the country. I went in today to renew my sticker. I filled out my check before I went and and started my stopwatch as I entered the DMV. It took only 35 seconds to get my sticker and only 43 seconds from the time I walked in, got my sticker, and left. Amazing!!! read more
