You've experienced the efficiency of airport currency exchanges? Well, this isn't that. Awful customer service. I was given mostly evasive non-answers or brush off comments. Apparently, a simple 'yes' or 'no' answer was simply IMPOSSIBLE regarding whether a particular currency can be exchanged for USD. It's a very simple question. And, oh yeah: They HUNG UP on me during my phone call. The woman insisted that they had to make a xerox photocopy of each denomination of the bills to provide to their mysterious 'broker' (unnamed, and unavailable to speak with, even during his stated hours at their shop: 9:00-4:30, M-F). I never saw or heard of something like this in all my prior currency exchanges. She said their fee for doing a currency exchange was 5%-7% of the total amount (really? Not even ridiculously overpriced airport areas are this absurd). Give me a break. Stubbornly unhelpful, both in person and via phone. A repeated theme: 'You have to bring in' the money first. (WHY?) Just please ANSWER a SIMPLE QUESTION. On the phone: "I can't talk about this over the phone." (?) Well, she was asked the same question in person beforehand by my friend, with the same evasive non-answer. It shouldn't be so difficult to get a straight answer. [Her response to my polite incredulity: "That's our process."] Well, Kafka would have more to write about with this "process." What a painless experience! I went online to trade in dollars for peso and scheduled an…read moreappointment on a Friday. On Saturday I got an email stating that my money was ready for pick-up. This location is situated in the mall area of the Shops of North Bridge. There is parking in the 516 N Rush parking facility. Access to the currency exchange is just outside of Nordstrom, across from the Jellycat plushy store. You can access Nordstrom from the parking facility. You have to take the escalator to the top, then go through the store to the mall. The currency exchange itself is a small enclosed area. The young woman, Tricha, who took care of me and The Queen was super nice and very careful when it came to counting out our money. She was great. She explained the exchange rate and carefully told us how much we had requested in pesos and counted it out in a slow manner so we could see each bill being counted out. She also explained the process for us to return any money not spent in Mexico to get back dollars. The exchange rates and service were very good and this will be my go to for exchanging dollars to foreign currency.
