5 stars isn't enough for Jorge! What started as me wanting to digitize my own baby photos turned into a full-blown family epidemic. I showed the scanned photos to my parents, which led to my aunts and uncles digging through attics, closets, and mystery boxes that probably hadn't been opened since the 1980s. Suddenly everyone wanted their photos, VHS tapes, and family memories digitized. The reason I trusted Jorge with all of it is simple: he actually cares. When I first handed over my old photo albums, I was nervous. Some of these photos are literally one-of-a-kind family memories. I had visions of someone ripping apart albums, feeding everything into a giant industrial scanner, hitting "Start," and hoping for the best. That is NOT Jorge. He carefully disassembled the albums, handled each photo with incredible care, and made sure everything was scanned properly. You can tell he understands that these aren't just pieces of paper--they're irreplaceable family memories. The attention to detail was obvious from the beginning. One of the coolest surprises was when he digitized my wife's old VHS tapes and handheld camcorder videos from the late 1980s. We were able to watch footage of her as a little kid playing the violin at around 5 years old--something I had never seen before, and something the family had completely forgotten even existed. Watching those videos decades later was equal parts heartwarming, hilarious, and priceless. The timing ended up being incredibly fortunate. I completed this project before the Eaton Fire. When the fires happened, I realized I wasn't worried about losing decades of family photos and videos because everything had already been digitized and safely backed up. That peace of mind alone was worth every penny. Jorge is trustworthy, meticulous, and genuinely passionate about preserving memories. What I thought would be a simple photo-scanning project ended up reconnecting my family with moments we didn't even remember we had. Jorge was a life saver. I wanted a retirement slide show, and I was under a time crunch. I tried to send photos from my smart phone to a computer and then to my niece's computer. I didn't get very far being the computer illiterate person that I am. I found Jorge from Yelp. He downloaded my photos to his computer and then synched up three songs that I had chosen beforehand. I'm super happy with the results of Jorge's work. I needed a twenty year old VHS converted to a digital file and finally made the move after I heard cassettes deteriorate over time. He was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. He explained everything in non-technical language, and I felt at ease handing him my video. His turnaround time was fast, his hours were very flexible, he was super responsive via phone or text from beginning to end. He formatted my video into a digital file and saved it to a my USB stick so that I can plug it directly into a TV and play it. I can also copy, transfer or play the file with any computer. My father recently passed away and I realized it was time to transfer a treasure trove of approx. 40 reels of original 16mm, 8mm and Super8 home movies that were filmed by my dad between 1941 -1977 and given to me by him 25 years ago. Taken as a whole, these are a visual history of a bygone generation of my family and the lives they lived and it felt important to create a digital record for my living family members and the generations to come. I could tell just by a visual inspection that some of the film wasn't in great shape and I was extremely nervous to hand over the originals to just anyone - given that if anything happened to the material, there was no way to replace it. After doing exhaustive research of the companies in Los Angeles who transfer original film in this format, I narrowed the list down to Secure Media Transfer. I reached out to Jorge on a Friday night and by the next day, I had an appointment to meet with him. He was so respectful of the film and spent an hour explaining the process in detail, alerting me to potential issues he could see, calculated the price right in front of me (and gave me a discount based on footage) and shared a bit about what motivated his love of film, the job he does and record-keeping. I decided to trust him - and I was not disappointed. He reached out to me several times while he was doing the work - to present workarounds for issues he discovered and when it was time to pick up the finished product, he sat with me and went through the transferred footage on his computer, pointing out the various workarounds we had discussed (and generously made transfers of both the original AND the workaround) and answered any questions I had. I was looking for someone who could transfer a 50 year old super 8mm reel to digital and found this company on line. We had to place my mother in law in hospice and we didn't know it would happen. Given the situation, we wanted to have this done ASAP for us and family. As soon as talked to Jorge I knew we were in good hands. Secure Media Transfer did a fantastic job of digitizing a huge number of my color slides (circa 1955-1985), enabling me to preserve these priceless family memories. Moreover, the digital versions were very-high resolution and fully retained the color vibrance and saturation, as well as the clarity of the originals. In addition, I had reel-to-reel tapes from the 1960s and 1970s digitized, and the fidelity was excellent. My father was a prolific photographer -- I found several thousand slide carousels in "my old bedroom" last time I visited, dating back to the 1950s. My dad had digitized some of them over the years himself, and he sort of insisted he could do them all, but I took them home and gave them to Jorge. For many years I collected many precious hours of my kids growing up from their infant time to their young and lovely growth. Most of my recordings were done on an old fashion video cam tape (which was the best gadget I purchased in 2002) however these videos became somewhat a burden to watch with all the recent technology boom...due to my armature taping skills I managed to video record my tapes on two different modes which made it somewhat encumbers for video "editors" to transfer the content to a digital format and I tried couple of sources which they couldn't help me until one day I saw Jorge's add on FB at a glance I overlooked his promo, however, few weeks passed by and I saw the same promo from his page which attracted my attention and at once I decided to contact him and explain to him my "dilemma" and boy was I glad to do it...he took my tapes for over 25 hours and transferred the content to digital form however, he also made sure that I have a backup in case the original storage gets damaged. My family had a really old VHS videotape (circa 1984?) that included video of many long-departed members of our family. This was the only copy that we had and it was in pretty bad shape. Jorge is one great editor!!! I was introduced to Jorge by a DP who I had worked on a film, commercial work and on my own television projects. I was putting together a presentation DVD for a television project of mine for The Discovery Channel. Being "old school" I had always sat next to my editor and guided them shot by shot.
