I shopped around for storage units pretty extensively and this was the best deal I found in the Seattle area - including insurance it comes out to $68 per month for my 8x10 (other places are more expensive at a base cost, and often only have one or 2 months discounted rent). Move in was easy, I was able to drive up and park right next to the door and borrow their carts, use the freight elevator and load up the unit quickly. The place is not shiny or fancy by any means, but they have excellent safety measures and inside the building is clean and dry (no weird smells). Best yet, the folks who work here are completely delightful, easy to reach by phone, and so kind and helpful!

They have a bunch of dollies on site and their shop is very fairly priced if you need a lock, boxes or packing material. The building is gated making it even more secure. I highly recommend this place especially if your items are valuable or would benefit from temperate control.

The other day I had to pull half of my things out in order to access the item I was looking for and it took a good couple of hours and one of the office dudes comes wheeling along in that goofy golf cart to scold me about having my stuff in the hallway. What am I supposed to do with it? My rent is paid and I'm there working away and I am hassled why? The top building is always dirty, the lowest building attached to the office smells like an ashtray, I am talking the whole building b/c the office dudes sit in the first drive up unit and smoke and it's pretty likely anyone storing anything in that building is going to discover the stuff they stored smells like they are smokers. The guy with a unit right across from mine told me (as he was moving out) he found a bunch of rodent droppings all over his stuff inside his unit. My advice is take your business somewhere else this place will make you feel like you matter very little and you can get treated like that anywhere. I'm moving out as soon as I find a new storage place. Here is an update: since posting my review here, Sherlock Storage sent me an eviction e-mail stating that I violated the lease agreement and they cancelled my gate access and I can only get into my unit escorted by someone from the office during their office hours. I rented a unit at 1st Ave Storage for close to 20 years, and management used to be great there (I…read morebelieve Emmet(?) was the longtime manager there, but he left a few years ago). I just recently moved out, as things have gotten shadier and shadier around there. The security/safety around the building has become questionable, especially with the RV camp out back. With that said--the worst part, frankly, is the owner. Charlie is his name, and he basically refused the pro-rated refund that 3 people working at his facility ALL said I would receive. I did a speedy move out April 16, as the manager there told me I could get the pro-rated refund if I cleared my unit out asap, rather than wait until end of month. Great! Sadly, I never received the refund, and even thought the 3 different employees told me I should get it--Charlie apparently refused to follow through, telling his manager "we don't pro-rate". But... all 3 of your employees told me you do...!? When I asked to have Charlie call me directly, I was told Charlie said: "I don't talk to customers directly." I explained I would warn people on Yelp if Charlie doesn't bother calling me back, and his reply (through his employee, since he doesn't talk to customers): Fine, post on Yelp. Additionally, when I rented a U-Haul from them, the gas tank was not even filled. Apparently owner Charlie keeps just a quarter tank in there, claiming it's due to the RV camp stealing gas. But... he will penalize truck renters if they don't return the truck at exactly the maybe kinda quarter-ish level the tank had. Makes it real hard for truck renters to fill up ONLY the amount they use. Hmmm... SO... Be warned. Charlie the owner does not follow through, and frankly does not step up when he should. I moved to another storage facility that provided better rates in a more convenient location... and a safer location. I didn't realize perhaps the best benefit to moving: not supporting a shady owner. I'm giving 2 stars rather than 1 because of the years of good service I had when previous management was great, the place was more secure, and shady business practices didn't impact me. I guess owner Charlie's integrity was lost in parallel with the decline of the community around there :-\ Buyer beware--think twice before using 1st Ave Storage.

Each of the 5 employees who arrived to move 20 years worth of belongings in my 3000 ft home were professional, incredibly kind, and worked his tail off! They barely took a break over the course of a 9 hour move! Everything was treated with kid gloves, carefully wrapping and gingerly transporting items of value as well as total junk. On The Go came recommended by a friend but ended up being by far the worst moving experience I've had. My wife was 8 months pregnant and I hired movers specifically so she wouldn't have to deal with the stress of moving. Instead, the crew showed up nearly 4 hours late and was clearly underprepared. We had been up early, packed and ready by 9am, as the crew was supposed to arrive 9:30-10am. They arrived at 1pm. I had to reschedule elevator bookings at both buildings four times, and my wife missed her window to rest and eat. Not exactly the "easy move" I paid for. The quoted job time was 3-4 hours total. Loading a small one-bedroom alone took 4 hours, largely because one of the two movers was clearly inexperienced and required significant rework throughout. I understand people have learning curves -- I just don't think customers should absorb the cost of on-the-job training. I watched him smack my expensive things on walls and the floor with little care. At the end of loading, the crew asked to stop at a fast food restaurant. I had already flagged the time crunch multiple times. We ended up skipping the meal but it came across as tone-deaf. Unloading took over 2 hours despite a verbal promise of 1 hour -- and that's with me actively helping. Total time: over 6 hours to move 15 minutes away. The last time I moved with the same belongings (Seattle to Kirkland), a different crew finished in under 4 hours, including the time to transport, and with zero damage. Several irreplaceable items were chipped or otherwise damaged during the move. When I raised it with the company, I was essentially told there was nothing they could do, but they offered to mail a $25 check. That was nearly a month ago. No check has arrived, despite multiple follow ups. The company did offer a partial discount on the move after I followed up, though it took several weeks to receive it. I appreciate the gesture, but it doesn't come close to addressing the full picture -- the delay, the damaged items, the time lost, or the stress added to a situation that was already sensitive. All of that could have been solved with proper planning and training. This was just not a good experience from top to bottom.
