This place was so wonderful. I researched basically all of the storage places in Raleigh, NC. This one was a bit out of my way, but the rates were the lowest, and they offered the first months rent free. The manager at the counter, Sonja, is probably one of the nicest people I have ever met. She was very helpful in getting me started. As a poor post-grad trying to get my own place, paying for anything is hard. But she helped me out by offering another discount if I did auto-payments, as well as telling me I could get a percentage off each month's payment for each person I refer. You have full 24-hour access to your storage unit, super helpful since I work nights. The unit is very clean, and well maintained. You get to keep the lock they give you when you end up leaving! If you are looking for a place that genuinely cares about your business, and will treat you with the utmost respect, this place is it. They also, as I said, have the best prices in Raleigh. Even if it's out of your way, as in I live in North Raleigh, a good drive away, and I would still choose here over the storage place that is two minutes away, because Sonja and Britne were so wonderful. I cannot like this place enough. I walked in with no idea of how this process worked, and I left with complete customer satisfaction and a whole lot more confidence as a poor twenty-something trying to get on my feet. My family is moving back to Raleigh after 5 years away. When we moved out 5 years ago, we rented a unit from Sonja for a month. Everything was easy and smooth, so now that we're moving back (to the same apartment complex), we went back to SSS for a unit. We also chose this as our location to drop off our UHaul rental truck. I spoke with someone else when I called and they were fantastic (Diane, I think) but I was thrilled when I arrived and saw a familiar face - Sonja, after 5 years! Everything was smooth again. The unit was ready, we were able to use dollies for free for our unloading and move-in. This was yesterday (6/24/2015) and it was hot and sunny in Raleigh. Over 90 degrees. We needed more water and Sonja gave us bottled water. She was genuinely concerned about us and made sure we were hydrated and healthy while moving in the heat! We are so glad that after 5 years, things are still great at SSS. The lock is included, everything was handled via email (contract, etc.) and move-in was immediate. We showed up and unloaded. Perfect. We'll be back in 3 weeks to unload the unit into our new apartment and we'll be glad to see Sonja and her friendly staff again. read more

I happened upon SSS a few years ago when in between college and a job. My job search took me to another city so I kept this unit far longer than I initially expected. I was met with such superb service and support from Sonja over the years and recently Britne, I was reluctant to close my account. It feels like I am leaving family because each time I called to discuss changing payment options or any issue with Sonja she empathized with my situation, offered options and worked through the issues. Sonja is very down to earth, friendly and compassionate. Recently, I had the pleasure of interacting with Britne as I have finally settled in the Triangle and needed clear out my unit. She is top notch! Her smile is warm and precedes her very personable nature. Both of these ladies are professional, personable and hard workers. If I have need of storage in the future, I will certainly use Security Self Storage on Tryon Rd. because the owners obviously value their customers enough to hire and retain staff as qualified and friendly as Sonja and Britne. I recently moved to Charlotte from raleigh. After using security storage for two years it only made sense to use the Uhaul service to return to pick up my belongings to take back to Charlotte. And as a school teacher, it's extremely hard to work out a time to pickup a U haul truck during open hours. Sonja was the angel in disguise in this story. After telling her my situation and running out of hope of getting a u haul at all to pick up my belongings from this establishment, she called me, (the day before I would return to raleigh to close out my unit) to let me know that they would be willing to literally go out of their way to help me. They had a truck waiting for me (after hours mind you) and Ms. Sonja was even kind enough to call me the following day to make sure my trip to Charlotte was a successful one. I recommend the U haul service to anyone as this place will do anything to help you, but also the storage unit. I NEVER had problems with my storage rent changing or 'hidden fees' and anytime there was a problem going on in the building they notified me. These people will treat you like family. When I searched online, this was one of the few places in the area offering a 5x5' space (many others start at 5x10) and also had a great promo going with the first 2 months being free. I considered booking online, but had an insurance question, so I went over in person. Seth was very friendly and helpful. He answered all of my questions and made sure I knew what my options were. He even let me check out 2 potential locker locations on-site to make sure my needs were met. Any storage place I've used in the past simply assigned me an available space. The whole process only took a few minutes, and there was no nonsense about the promo being for online booking only the way some companies are. Overall the place looked clean and well kept. There is limited parking at the main office, but usually I will be there parking near my unit, so that's no big deal. As other reviewers have stated, Security does offer incentives for their customers to post Yelp reviews, however I was not asked to give a review other than my honest opinion/rating. Sonja is the greatest! I have never met a nicer person than Sonja. She kept telling me "I'm here to help you. I am here to fix your problems." She knew I was stressed about moving, and finding the right units to store my items until we were moving into our house. And she did make things much easier. I called several storage facilities, but she was easily the most pleasant person to talk to, and she easily offered me the best deal. Even though I am storing my items for only a few months, she offered me the first month free! It seemed too good to be true, but it wasn't. She truly cares about her customers, and she wants to make them happy. She should be in corporate America. She's a great salesperson. After talking to her, I quit calling around. For my job and personal use I've had to rent a U-Haul truck for various reasons, but I decided to use Security Storage for the first time, and I've got to say I am very happy with the level of service I got there. I was greeted by a nice lady who was very helpful and informative for what I needed in terms of renting a cargo van, and she was very pleasant to deal with as well. As I've said, I've used a lot of different facilities for U-Haul rentals, but I won't go anywhere else in the future but here. Also, while I don't have any need for security storage, if I did in the future, this is the place I would go. This site is very secure, and they have adequate space it appears. From the moment I contacted these folks to ask about their facility, I felt valued. They responded to calls and emails SUPER promptly - even on a holiday! I hadn't expected to hear from them until the next day at the SOONEST but within 30 minutes I received a reply. Visiting their office for the first time put my concerns completely at ease, and Sonja at the front desk was an Absolute CHARM to deal with. There was an overall positive energy to the business, and she provided me with the clearest answers to all my questions. I've moved twice since I've lived in Raleigh, and I have used Security Self Storage both times. Last year, I rented a van from them, and this time around I'm renting a storage unit. I called and set up my reservation both years, and I had zero issues with reservations, lost paperwork, etc. This year, I received help from Sonja, and she was really friendly and helpful. I really appreciated her help! The other thing that's great about this place is that, as a grad student, it doesn't break the bank to move. As a student in the summer, they'll give you a month free of storage. Truck rental prices are reasonable, compared to some other places that I've looked at. We have had a storage unit with this company for a couple years, and our experience working with them has always been great. We had gotten a Groupon deal for this location which was originally for a 10 x 15 unit, however when we arrived they did not have one available but replaced it with two side by side 5 x 15 units which was a perfect recovery, such great customer service even in a difficult situation. These ladies know their stuff, have great calm, cool and collected skills to handle any situation. Plus we reserved our U Haul from them as well so it made it a win- win with this location as when we unloaded our final load into the units we could easily drop the truck. I went in Saturday afternoon to obtain a 10x10 climate controlled unit. The Manager, Kyle and Jordan were very helpful, polite and friendly. Pricing is fair and the location I am using (I believe they own 7 locations), appeared to be very clean and everything was in good condition/working order. The larger units i.e 10x25, are a little dark towards the back because they don't have overhead lights inside each storage unit, but the premises and each building is well lighted at night. Also, there are outlets just outside each storage unit, so be sure to bring a drop-cord or flashlight. read more

I've moved around a lot in my life, and have had to use storage units very often. My experience with Security Self Storage has been the best experience so far! Sonja and Cindy were extremely friendly and helpful, and very open about their policies and the availability of storage units so I didn't spend any more money than I needed to. Moving is a pain but they made the experience a little bit easier with their friendly customer service and great deals (especially if you're a student). Kyle was so helpful as I set up arrangements from Oregon. When I arrived back in Raleigh, I was very impressed with the facility and the service as well as great patience with all my questions.
