While the haircut was ok, please understand that this 1 star review is based on something as simple as a sticker displayed to the public. See picture attached. As a customer, I am sure many would agree; regardless of political preference...businesses should keep politics outside of their doors. I found the sticker displayed incredibly insulting to women, and for the hairdresser and the owner to be women themselves was ironic and disgusting. Referring to a woman as a "h*e" and proudly displaying that to your patrons is unacceptable. If one does not have respect for oneself, how can you expect anyone else to respect you? Also, no in between sanitizing of equipment or cleaning up of hair one between guests. I came at 9:45 and tried to enter (sign says they open at 8). A young lady opens the door and says she got a late start and asked if I'd be willing to wait 15 minutes while she sets up because she got a late start. She knows I'm in my car outside the window but didn't let me know she was ready. The 'open' sign was now on. I walk in. She's on her cell phone so I ask if she's ready. She looks up and says, "the 'open' sign is on, isn't it? ". I changed my schedule to accommodate her tardiness, she doesn't even bother to let me know she's available, then is rude. I walked out. I came because of the good reviews. I left because of my first-hand experience. This behavior isn't going to pay her bills or help the owner pay rent. Added after the response: wasn't having a bad day. I simply let the screen door go. It's heavy and sounds like it slammed. I just said "come on!" (to myself) when I first tried to come in but the open sign was not lit. The sign on the door says 8am and no, I don't check the website of a business before I walk into it when it says they'll be open. If you recall, we had a friendly exchange when you came out to ask me to wait. I was good with it. Not at all upset. You know the truth. Glad you're boosted. The Covid Look. I had it in full effect. You know what I'm talking about. You're STILL working from home, no business travel. That grooming thing kinda taking a back seat to waking up just in time to bang out a pot of coffee and start doing emails by 7:30. Hair that hasn't been cut in months and is so unmanageable that the baseball cap was only coming off for sleep. Beard that's barely passable for Teams (Zoom) meetings. And haven't had to turn the camera on in a couple weeks so... Anyway, I called in the morning and they confirmed they did hair and beards, and had some availability at 1pm for same day service. Danny, the owner, took care of me. He made my head look great and then cleaned up my face and neck. Both my wife and daughter were pleased with the results so that means Danny did a great job. And what a conversation, probably the most fun I've had getting a cut ever. I told him that I'd consider coming back up to Sedona from the valley just for the head and beard and I meant it! The employees were all wearing masks, they do a sanitizing mist between every customer and they have clear curtains up between all chairs so there's a barrier between each customer. The lady that cut his hair was so patient even as my 5 year old son started to get squirmy and almost lose his cool. She was also very informative about different hair cuts for boys since my husband usually takes him and I had no clue what the hair cut styles are called for boys. First thing to keep in mind is that this is a "barbershop" not a salon. I would not recommend them if you have long hair and want to keep it that way. Therefore my 3 stars as I lost most of my medium length when I asked for just a trim. However, if you like a shorter cut, anywhere from military to the "Tom Brady" look, this would be 5 stars. Occasionally I just forget to get my haircut. I suppose there's still this idea in the back of my mind I will successfully attain a ponytail yet in this lifetime. However the facts are that I always get to the same point where my fine blond hair is flopping around and everyday is a bad hair day. I was driving around Sedona when it hit me 'the time has come to cut this mes of yours'. The truth is there was a salon right directly across from the place I was staying so I walked in. They were not busy but the guy behind the book told me to take a card and he might be able to get me worked in at 4pm. It was noon. I was going hiking. I passed. I went hiking, and upon my return noticed another salon and I stopped in. This place was actually very busy, but I went in and asked, and the guy was super nice and said 'maybe next tuesday' (it was thursday and my flight out was sunday). So I pulled out onto the main road, and voila!! There like a beaming ray of sunshine was Sedona Barber Shop! I parked and went in. The older guy was pretty busy, but the younger guy finished up and said politely ' do you want to wait or have me cut your hair?' I jumped right in! 20 minutes later I had a great cut, a much younger style, and I am still wearing it this way 2 months later! I saved so much over the salons and was so grateful I gave him a big tip! read more

My 4 yr old grandson and I went in for haircuts. There's a new, young man cutting hair. I told him exactly how I wanted to have it cut, he must not have been listening because he was ready to finish without ever touching the top of my head, so I had to tell him again how I wanted it cut. My grandson's turn came, he sat quietly in the chair and was behaving great for a 4 year old. Suddenly he began complaining that he was being hurt as the barber was trimming the back of his head and sure enough, his skin was cut all along the hair line. We're not going back! read more
