To note, I postponed my appointment. I got called to go over fees. High fees I feel are unnecessary. I've been seeing Dr Hardy for 36 years and this would've been my first time seeing him since he moved here. I asked to speak to him before I agreed to all this as I feel it's unnecessary. I was told I could speak to him the day of the appointment. I was willing to drive 40 minutes to my appointment considering my history with him but not after today. Then she drops the bomb, we'll he's retiring August 18. The sad part, she didn't care. I'm sad I won't see Dr Hardy but I refuse to be obligated to pay excessive fees because they said so. I recently brought in my own designer frames (Gucci) to have prescription lenses fitted--something I've done many times at both budget and high-end optical shops without issue. I signed the standard waiver acknowledging potential damage, as usual. Unfortunately, the frames were significantly damaged during the process. While I understand there are risks, I was disappointed by how it was handled. The only resolution offered was 50% off a new frame--no help replacing the damaged pair or covering the lens cost. Given the value of the frames and the routine nature of the service, I expected more care and accountability. At 80 years of age, I have been to many optometrists and I can honestly say that Dr. Dang at Seabreeze optometry is absolutely one of the best! As a nurse, I would recommend him for any and all eye exams, glasses, and any diagnostic treatment that one may need as they age. He is conservative and very educational in the options and choices you may have to treat any and all eye conditions. If you have very dry eyes, as many of us do, I would recommend the IPL treatment that he does. It is painless and helps your vision clarity as well as eliminating the dry itchiness in the eyes. His office staff is very accommodating and friendly and appointments are always on time! read more

My optometrist moved his practice from his own office to See Breeze. My first impression of See Breeze is that office management cares more about money than the well being of the patients. Don't get me wrong. The office staff and doctors are great. It's the ideology of the office that I don't like. They charged me $339 for my annual eye exam, and that was AFTER my insurance kicked in. It used to cost me around $120 at my doctor's old office. They said it's because they have a machine that my doctor didn't have in his old office. They did lower the price to around $250 after i complained. I went from hard contacts to soft. They wanted to charge me $40 to have the office staff teach me how to remove the lenses. Since I'd worn soft lenses in the past I declined. Well, I did end up having trouble taking the lenses out and asked if the doctor could train me. They said no and that it would now cost me $50 for the training. When I said my doctor never charged me for training before, I was told "the doctor is in a new office now." That was the last straw. I will never go back to that office again, which is a shame since my doctor will lose a patient of more than 20 years. In addition, during the trial lens period, it took as much as a month and also 6 weeks to receive the lenses. I ended up purchasing the lenses online and it took less than a week to receive 12 sets of the lenses. By the way, I finally found a video that I liked to remove my lenses. Today I had a morning eye exam appointment. When entering, the staff did not acknowledge me. I had a broken pair of unique glasses to have repaired while I was there and was forced to wear my sunglasses to function. The staff actually asked me if I had an appointment! I had been there recently and they knew my glasses were a problem since they are old. I'm a long time patient, tho I hadn't had an exam in a long time. While waiting and filling out a few forms, I find out the staff member has not even started the repair or informed me about the status. She is working in an optometrist office and has no clue what it means to be dependent on wearing glasses to live! I made sure the office has the part needed for the repair and still received no assistance from this particular staff member who had been helpful in the past. I was too upset with this experience, I told her I would get another doctor and later asked her to have the doctor call me. Dr Powell DID NOT call me back! If I could give ZERO stars, I definitely would! P.S. I also posted this review on the company's website and the 'owner ?' responded with a classic BS reason for the unprofessional treatment I received. I've been wearing 'Suspension Eyewear' for nearly 30 years!!! See Breeze informed me that they will no longer be offering this style of eyewear. So, naturally, I was there to go back to wearing traditional glasses! Again after being a long time patient NEEDING an exam and new glasses ASAP! I'm more than disgusted with this doctor and staff. P.P.S. I forgot to mention that after the first appt for a repair, my dog (in an air conditioned car) accidentally locked my car. I received a grateful helping hand with the staff and gave them beautiful flowers on my following visit to pay my bill. So needless to say, the staff knows who I am! read more

I had an unexpectedly great experience at "See Breeze Optometry" yesterday afternoon (January 6th). In most instances where I'm impelled to socialize the other party tends not to know how to comport themselves around me. For some context I'm a vent dependent quadriplegic. I have existed in this state for nearly eighteen years. Since the age of 21. No one I have ever interacted with in that brief social moment has ever been cruel to me. But more often than not people can be aloof and apathetic. So often times I expect these types of interactions but that was not the case yesterday. I rolled in accompanied by my steadfast mom Rosa and my nurse Monique. As soon as I entered we were helped! And the person that helped us was extremely congenial, warm and considerate! She put me at ease instantly! With eye contact to boot! These type of interactions are seldom so when it happens it stands out! I needed my glasses, two pair, to be adjusted which she did in under 10 minutes! Never rushing but thoughtfully methodical, which I tremendously appreciated! Unfortunately due to my diffidence I didn't ask her name but I will try my best to describe her: about 5'5" with long dark hair and a tattoo behind her right forearm... oh yeah she was also profoundly beautiful INSIDE and OUT! read more

I was concerned when I heard Dr. Powell had retired since he had gotten my prescription right when two other optometrists couldn't. Dr. Dang assured me there would be continuity and that he had learned what Dr. Powell. He was right. The prescription he wrote was just as accurate as Dr. Powell's. Let me preface this review, letting you know I'm seriously almost blind(without contacts or glasses) and it keeps getting worse...so I may know a thing or two about optometrists and I haven't missed my yearly check-up pretty much ever. I'm on my second year of having Dr. Powell as my eye doctor and I'm still unbelievably impressed! To start off, the assistants in his office are kind and more helpful than almost any office assistant I have ever dealt with. As for Dr. Powell himself, he is a fantastic Optometrist! I had never been happy with the comfort of my contact lenses,which I have been wearing for over 10 years and I wear on a daily basis. I have had three previous eye doctors and while some tried, nothing seemed to fully work. I went to Dr.Powell last year and he immediately spotted the problem...My eyeballs are oddly shaped! He set me up with some contacts specific to my eyeball shape and I can barely tell I'm wearing them--it's amazing! The office has fantastic hours on top of everything else(open until 6 or 7 most days)! If you have eyes, I would highly recommend Dr. Powell and his awesome staff. If they can fix my shiteous eyes, you should have no worries! read more

This was my 2nd year visiting Dr. Powell. I have had nothing but extremely professional and courteous experiences with him and his staff. Dr. Powell is extremely knowledgeable and takes time to explain the issues and remedies. I was prescribed with reading glasses and Michelle handled the entire process of choosing and getting the prescription ready. Since i qualify as one of the biggest procrastinators and getting glasses being a big decision for me, she helped and rather 'put up' with my constant emails and helped me all the way. I found a few frames on an approved vendors website and She was kind enough to order a few frames for me just so i can try them all and see which ones suites better. She even went the extra mile and fixed my existing sunglasses to fit them better. She is extremely knowledgable and is on top of her game. If you are into a 1980s style offices, old equipment, odd Doctors, being overcharged for samples, being charged for services you said you did not want and potentially entering a Doctors office and get the feeling like you are on a SNL sketch, this could be the office for you. 1) I did not ask for a "contact fitting" since I have been using the same ones for years and like them a lot and was charged ($85?) for a fitting. 2) My wife purchased contacts through the office and when I went to pick them up the Dr. was sitting in the room just behind the receptionist. Instead of a head nod or hello, he slowly shut the door to pretend like he wasn't there. It was like some kind of SNL sketch. I started to laugh because I thought he was messing around, but he wasn't. The Dr is just an odd fellow. 3) He charged us $10 for 5 days worth of SAMPLES. What a deal. 4) Equipment seems as dated as the office There are a lot of great eye doctors in HB so I am not sure why anyone would want to go here. read more

Let me start by saying that eyes are definitely a sensitive thing, especially when you have someone exploring around in there. Even though it is not a comfortable feeling, Dr. Powell made the experience very bearable. It's a weird feeling having your eyelid flipped inside out, but he gave me a heads up before doing so, let me know what it would feel like, and made it as comfortable as possible. Showed up for my appointment, there was no waiting around (pretty rare when going to a doctor's office). Dr. Powell took a look at my eye, gave me some suggestions on clearing up my issue, wrote me a prescription for the necessary eye drops, and sent me on my way.
