I have been coming to Clarity Eye group for years. All in all, they are great. However, there is a really special person in the optical department - Marty. I wear progressive lenses and they can be hard to adapt to. You really have to have a knowledgeable person take measurements so the glasses work as designed. Marty is excellent at this. But my most recent visit, the eye glasses were made incorrectly by the laboratory. I went back to see Marty, who took some measurements and confirmed there was an error. Marty had my glasses remade and on a rush order. I needed them "rush" because was heading out on an international trip very soon. Marty saved the day! Thanks Marty!!! read more

This review is more about the optical dept. The Drs are great and so is the staff but Marty K. In the glasses area is great. My wife and I have been coming for years and every time we pick out glasses she will tell me to look for a frame. I tell her why as you will pick them out and ask Marty his opinion and we will go with what he picks out. Absolute joke. Husband's first appointment gets canceled due to them being behind, says they can't see him and therefore making him reschedule, Day of, 20 mins before appointment. Goes in for his rescheduled appointment and left waiting in a room and no one checks, nobody around. An hour into this appointment never saw a Dr. Receptionist came up with excuses and had no idea what to do or what was going on. Do not go here if you need to be seen. After three years, I returned to see my optometrist and the customer service we received was excellent. Since the moment we walked in, Arianna was very helpful and guided us through the check-in process. I was able to get scheduled rather quickly for a minor lasik eye surgery. The staff are all friendly and helpful. I am a big baby about my eyes. I want to cry when they tell me it's time for a pressure test. It scares me. But, the staff had been reassuring every time they did a test on me. They were patient with me, because at one point I had to stop the lady from continuing so I could pull myself together. Dr. Fahd is my doctor and he's really kind. He suggested I get plugs for my tear ducts, but I turned them down due to fear. I wish I had them, now. Maybe next time. read more

I have been having my annual exam with Dr. Freeman for several years now and he is great.

Big flashy office! Dr. Fahd examined my eyes on a referral. I knew I needed surgery in one eye and when he told me my options, one was surgery by hand the other was laser. Which one is better? I asked. He told me laser surgery was "safer" and then sent me to the financial office to schedule. Once we heard "safe" we were content and didn't ask anything else. The financial office was small and piled high in patient folders. She was frenzied and short and just wanted to books the dates. The paperwork she gave me said that the laser surgery would be out of pocket (over 3k out of pocket) the other surgery was 100% covered. Wow. So I asked her if the laser surgery was "safer" and she hesitated. I pushed her and finally said she wasn't sure. She handed us a folder with lots of info and we left. My research afterward spotlighted why this office cannot be trusted. Laser surgery is "different" not "safer." And I don't have the eye issue that needs laser surgery. Do your homework first. Google best eye surgeon for [fill in your issue] and you will find other doctors. And get a second opinion. Insurance will cover that. Why? Because all doctors charge insurance different prices and we pay the difference. Dr Fahd charges more than double of other reputable eye doctors in Irvine or other cities. Do your homework. This place has a factory of patients who tend to be older, and they are being fooled by words like "safer". They just want the 3k out of pocket. Find a better place and do your research. read more

Just like there's a book "What to Expect when Expecting", there should be "What to Expect Past 40"... when your body's check engine light comes on, IT'S NOT FUN! I had emergency eye surgery this past Saturday. Had I not gone in for a routine eye exam, I would have landed in the emergency room to save my eyesight. The retinas in both eyes were torn and in the process of separating. I am thankful to Clarity Eye Care beyond the moon and stars for catching this injury and getting me into emergency surgery and saving my eyes. I have an eyelid infection, just the skin, not the eye. I went to my PCP (my doctor's office) and was seen by a physician assistant who told me it would get better with ointment that I've been using without results. Because I insisted on further care she gave me a referral to the ophthalmologist "in case it didn't get better". I went straight to Clarity. About my visit at Clarity: Clarity Eye Group is my regular ophthalmologist office. I usually see Dr. Novick. I showed up as a walk in. I was welcomed by Shelby, extremely polite and sweet. I was seen almost right away by Dr. Freeman. He prescribed oral antibiotic and told me the ointment wouldn't help. Thank God for real doctors and good care. I recommend Clarity Eye Group. read more

When I first went to Doctor Lorenso. I didn't know there was a difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist. Dr. Lorenso put two lenses in my eyes. I will never forget looking over my old glasses and seeing the crystal-clear view of a traffic sign with a fluorescent green coating behind the printing. The view got only better from there. Now I am getting used to my left eye. I feel Dr. Lorenzo is a kind and caring person and does his best to help an old man like me, all the nursing staff likes Dr. Lorenzo. read more

My Dad had an eye appointment at 10:45 am, and now it's 11:36 am. We're still waiting to be called. Upon entering, we received only eye contact, with no greeting or questions. It's now 11:41 am, and we continue to wait. I tend to avoid writing negative reviews, believing that mistakes can happen. However, when I approached the lobby to ask about the wait time, the lady responded, indicating I needed to sign in, though I had already done so. If she directed her attention away from her cell phone, she might have noticed. I requested to speak to her supervisor, but she was on lunch break. I was welcomed by a friendly staff and both the technician and dr. were really helpful and answered all my many questions thoroughly. I have gone twice a year to Clarity Eye Group for 16 years but will not be returning. They have gone downhill in quality of care - especially since the shutdown in 2020. They have drastically reduced their number of doctors. The turnover of employees is high. They are careless with filing with insurance. UPDATE: After posting my complaint on social media I decided to call the front office appointment staff the next morning. I told them about my social media posts on the HB Forums and Yelp. She immediately patched me through to the office manager. I told her my story and she said she saw the notes in the system and was going to look into it because she knew nothing about it, and it didn't appear to follow their normal protocol. That night I saw a credit for the $150 charge to my HSA card. And today I got a call back with an apology and also was told that I'd receive a $70 check for the copay I had paid during my office visit. I thanked her and am now completely satisfied with the resolution. Thank you Clarity Eye Group for making thing right! Original post: Huntington Beach residents, DO NOT use Clarity Eye Group. I have been a patron for almost 5 years and went to them in June to have my eyes checked and mostly to order a spare pair of glasses, as I have done before. My eye insurance allows me to get a new prescription every two years. Over the years when I check-in they have asked for my medical insurance information so they can bill them in addition to my vision insurance. I have ALWAYS declined, gotten my exam, resulting in my prescription so that I can order new glasses. This time however, I foolishly gave them my medical insurance information. As before, during my appointment the technician asked if I had any changes to my eyes. I mentioned my eyes were itchy from allergies and this was normal for me. We completed my eye exam. They billed my medical insurance but never billed my vision insurance plan, so a bill showed up later with a balance owed. I tried calling Clarity's office and there is no way to get a live person, so I went down there, only to be told in-person that I had to call their billing department to reconcile my bill. When I called billing, I was told they only billed the medical insurance. So I asked them to bill the vision insurance too, like had been done previously and paid in full. I received a call today that they were "unable to bill my vision insurance because I said my eyes were itchy" during my visit, which turned the visit into a "medical appointment" and they are therefore unable to get the visit covered by my vision insurance plan because of the way it was coded BY THEM. They will not fix it either! So I had to pay $150 using my HSA card. I have been a benefit's manager for the City for 5 years and have never heard of such a shabby dishonest shell game to extort money out of a patient. Not to mention the way they have shut down any/all communication unless you physically drive down there...only to be told to call billing. What a bunch of crooks running a billing scam disguised as an eyecare provider. BUYER BEWARE!!! read more

This is the review I didn't want to write as I have been a patient here for about 15 years or so. Arrived at 11:25 for an 11:30 appointment. 35 minutes later at exactly 12pm, I confirmed my appointment was, in fact, at 11:30 so I decided to leave as I have other places to be and other appointments to keep. I am a very easy patient to deal with but the kicker was that I (for the first time ever?) was the *only* patient in the waiting area the entire time (usually there are several people waiting). After being completely ignored by the three office staff folks behind the front desk for 35 minutes with no status update, I decided to call it quits. I believe this practice was taken over by a conglomeration a few years back and since then, there has been a rotating door of doctors and office staff (the three or four eye docs I saw here all left in short order). I get it when things are 'busy' and offices get a bit backed up, but...this will be my last visit here, unfortunately. read more

I completely regret doing the laser treatment here. Not only is my distance vision not good afterwards, but my up close is completely shot. At each follow up appt I shared that my vision was not better and my up close was worse. They said "give it time". Well almost 2 years later and I'm out thousands of dollars and completely dependent on readers. Not to mention the long wait time at every appt. Ever since it changed from Clarity it has been very disappointing! They have more staff than before yet the wait time is horrible. Don't know any of the new staff up front but not exactly friendly or knowledgeable. Glad a few of my original doctors are still there but cancelling appointments should not happen only in an emergency. Loved it before but I don't like the rudeness and you give what you get. I'm so glad l didn't listen to the bad reviews. Looks like most of them were regarding wait times. My first appointment I left because the wait was too long. The very nice desk girl told me to make my appointments in the early morning because the wait's not as long. She was right. Dr. Greiner was the first Dr. I saw just for my check up. He was very efficient with everything, checking for glaucoma and cataracts. I already knew I had cataracts, he just confirmed I did need surgery. I was next seen by Dr. Faud to set up my surgery. What a fantastic Dr! He fixed my first eye. Super easy surgery. No pain, no wait. He and his staff are amazing. The office people are the sweetest. You ever been to an establishment that you felt that you were not treated fairly for some or no good reason? This is what I have experienced more than 3x from Clarity Eye Group. And before I get started let me say, it is not the clinical staff or doctors that I am speaking about but the front desk/business personnel. I was referred to this eye group through my insurance provider Greater Newport Physicians. But because of some mix up in CEG's system they kept saying that I was not insured through the very insurance provider that referred me to them. Today, after a few other skirmishes, was the last straw. After I had to drive back to my home and bring them in the authorization sheet I recieved less than a month ago, the office/business staff (an hour after my appointment) came to me and told me that my insurance provider's information was inaccurate and that my insurance was no longer active. Mind you, I called my provider (Anthem Blue Cross) after my first check-in to have them to verify my insurance. I was told by them that this was a pattern with CEG to deny or dismiss GNP members. Also let me say that in between these skirmishes were fulfilled appointments where I had to bring in no authorization sheet and was seen by a lovely opthamologist (Lee Novick). It is very frustrating to have people not follow or accept members when they bring in PROOF of their reason for coming there! My authorization was good to 7/19/21. Tell me why did she have to check it after it proved that I was a member of the insurance group that I said I was a member of, I brought in the proof that it was the managed care group I said it was and the one they accepted, and it was as recent than a month ago. There was none. I heard another customer ahead of me come in using the same group I was under and they gave that person no problems. So am I wrong for feeling rejected because of biases or do I have a legitimate gripe? You tell me. read more

I've gone to an optometrist for almost all of my life and I have never loved one more than I love Clarity Eye Group in Huntington. Dr. Van is my absolute favorite optometrist of all time, she's so kind and warm with me and always remembers the details about my family and what I like to do when I talk to her. She's extremely straightforward about my vision care and answers all my weirdly specific questions. I no longer live in the area but I still drive over an hour to go to this optometrist in particular. And it's not just because of Dr. Van. The amazing women who work the front desk are so nice and friendly that it almost seems like they never have a bad day. You can tell that they all get along and have great relationships with the people who come in. I never have to wait long to talk to anyone at the desk when I'm scheduling appointments or checking in. I've never received better service. I wish I could shout out all of their names because they are all equally sweet and always recognize me without me giving my name. Plus, their office has a snack basket that is always full and such a sweet thing to have. I had LASIK performed twice by Dr. Fahd who is the best to see for LASIK, I truly believe, he's a really great guy and very funny. But most of all, LASIK is one of the best decisions I've ever made in my entire life and has truly made every day better for me. I can't express my appreciation enough for everyone who has been a part of it. There's honestly no place I've received better care from than here. What a rip-off, bad attitude, corporate greed, and shoddy healthcare. I was told I had dry age-related AMD but referred to a retinal specialist to talk about shots that are not for dry AMD, they are for wet AMD. Suspicious, I found another retinal specialist and learned that my eyesight had been misdiagnosed as unable to pass a driver's test. I'm fine. I just need simple cataract surgery. The Clarity tech and the doc were snotty and I just received the bill for the inaccurate $1100 eye exam, of which insurance paid half. Terrible. They are owned by private equity, squeezing the quality out and the costs up. DON'T GO TO CLARITY! read more

TERRIBLE office where they make you wait for a long time for your appointments and are very unfriendly. Obviously they don't really care about their patients. The only reason I continued to go there was because of Dr. Kurteeva. Last November after seeing her I made a yearly appointment for today (November11, 2020). When I got to the office today the receptionist said my doctor was no longer there. I was surprised and asked why they did not call and let me know. The receptionist said they did try to call but that was a lie as I never had a call, message or email from them. I would never recommend an office that is so uncaring. read more
