Kylie is always on top of everything too! Anne is great with recommending me glasses that look great with my style as well as fitting them to my peculiar shaped ears! What a wonderful staff here, They have such a wonderful flow and work together as a singular unit! The only thing I wish is that the office would get a paint job, you can tell the buildings age by the paint patches in the exam room and the hallway scuff marks. I went here to Coast Optometric for the first time today. It's a beautiful office. I was greeted by friendly technicians and doctors. They helped me out immediately with all of my needs. As a matter fact they went above and beyond. Before I went there, I talked to my optometrist, who I got my glasses from, and there was nobody there, except for a secretary, and she was absolutely no help and she wasn't even remotely familiar with serving customers. Then I went to visit another optometrist to get some help with my broken glasses and they were just too busy and said things like well we don't carry this type of frame so we can't help you put in a new screw in to hold your frame together, and they sent me packing. And that type of excuse is ridiculous, because optometrist have all the different screws that you need for all eyeglasses. And by the way, that was at Pacific Eyecare, and I feel like they were not friendly or helpful whatsoever. And then I came to Coast, and I was greeted immediately with friendly service, and they were so helpful and accommodating. I was taken aback by their exceptional performance. They really are kind and knowledgeable and hard-working, and taking care of business like you would not believe I would recommend this place for all of your eyeglass needs. Worst experience so far with regard to getting new eyeglasses. The staff is super friendly and nice, but what good is that if you don't get a good product? The one star is for the nice and friendly staff; no stars, otherwise. My eyes strain and things are blurry. I could definitely read much better with my old eyeglasses, and see better from afar. If I wasn't too busy, I'd be back there immediately for adjustment. I will still do that because there's no way I would put up with new eyeglasses for the price I paid only to be this much dissatisfied. No refunds on the eyeglasses by the way. I will update my review depending on how they address my issues. Bottom line, not worth the expense -- completely missed the mark. read more

I cannot recommend Dr. Blaze's office any longer. At my last visit, I met with someone who was alone and did not seem prepared to take on patients. He did not know what my condition is that I informed him off despite it being right there in my folder. He was frazzled and kept flipping through my file/paperwork on the clipboard. Later Dr. Blaze came in. He looked ill, did not wear a mask properly, his shirt was unbuttoned several buttons, and his overall appearance was unprofessional. Ordering lenses was less than exciting. There are far too many offices nearby to continue trusting my eye care with this office. read more

This was my very first optometry visit and eye exam. I needed glasses to help with eyestrain due to long hours of studying and computer use, and they did a great job! I waited maybe all of 5 minutes in the waiting room before being taken back, and was seen right away. I've never worn glasses before and they had a large selection for me to choose from. I probably tried on about 25 different pairs and the woman helping me was very sweet and patient. Once I found my perfect pair (simple black Ray-Ban's) it only took 10 minutes to add my prescription to the lenses. My experience at Coast Optometric was great! Super eye care services. Very competent doctors and technicians who treat you warmly and take care of you for the moment you walk in the door explaining everything that will occur. The doctor I worked with was terrific and they have high caliber machines that may avoid your eyes being dilated which is a plus. They have an eyeglass fitting store right in their office and the technician there was super helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this doctor for eyecare and buying eyeglasses. As you can see by my previous review, I've generally been very happy coming here. I've been coming for about four years now, but this year's annual was very different. I'm not sure what has changed since last year, but I walked in and waited a bit to start the appointment process. This was fine, as it was only five minutes or so. I was then taken to an incredibly small back room for my initial tests. The woman who initially gave me the tests handed me a contact case to take mine out and asked as an afterthought if I wanted to wash my hands before taking them out. The case was already in front of me, so I took them out, knowing I always get a new pair of fresh contacts when I leave. I was then left alone in the room for about 20 minutes, without my vision (always a little uncomfortable). This is usually normal for a doctor's visit, but not for Dr. Blaze. Also, aside from the room being small, there was no air movement in the room so it was quite stuffy. After I got out, I was put into another room for a while until Dr. Blaze came in. Meeting with the Dr. took about 5 minutes and then I was on my way to order my contact lenses. Before I left there, I was given my old contact lenses back to put in because there was no change in prescription and they didn't have my prescription in the office at the time. I ordered two boxes, one for each eye and just received my shipment with my first name misspelled (a bit disconcerting since my legal name works through my insurance) and only one box of contact lenses... lefty will be at 20-20, can't speak for righty. I'm in the process of sorting this out, but just little things were off about this visit. read more

It is my hope that one day all practices realize the value of hiring friendly and competent office staff in addition to their medical providers. Coast Optometry provides an excellent experience from the moment you speak with them over the phone to schedule an appointment to receiving your glasses/contact lenses. I had the pleasure of working with Anne over the phone who listened when I told her my terrible experience in another office, she asked me if I would be willing to give her more information so she could see if she could find out if I was covered at their location (I recently received new coverage and benefits through my insurance), and then took time to schedule me and reassure me about what to expect at their office! So much empathy, patience, and professionalism! AND she was able to do all of this in 5 minutes. You will feel spoiled after going to Dr. Blaze and then trying to go anywhere else. He is so attentive and really gets to know you. He asked about my running schedule and how I was adapting to the hills in California A YEAR LATER. He takes time to address your concerns and then supplies you with a variety of options. He also is an expert on the eye and teaches and explains every step of what he is doing along the way. You can tell he is super passionate about what he does and has hired staff who feel the same way! read more

I went in for an eye abrasion. I squeezed in an appointment just finding this office through my insurance. I ended up really liking my doctor, who also checked my eyes while I was there, and I am to get a new pair of glasses on top of getting a prescription for my eye abrasion. *** A MUST READ if you are considering becoming a patient here It took me a while to process the freight train that hit me and write about my experience. I arrived at the office early, as a new patient, to complete my paperwork. The girl at the desk was somewhat helpful and friendly. I waited about 15 minutes beyond the completion of my paperwork to be taken back. Andrew greeted me and spent about 20-25 minutes assessing my vision. He really listened to my vision concerns and took the time to see what my corrected vision may be. When Dr. Blaze got to my room he did three different quick distance segments - red/green, questions. Then he came up for close vision and did two to three vision questions. This was followed by some type of "does this look less clear the further away it gets?" type of questioning. He then proceeded to hit me with rapid-fire options about contact/glasses options. I explained that I struggle with dizziness and dry eyes, so he eliminated an option. This was all done in about 8 minutes and he turned and said, "it was nice to meet you," and was going to leave. I was left a bit overwhelmed by the options, but far more concerned at the lack of treatment. He was perturbed by this and asked what he could do for me, so I expressed that my right eye had issues with blurred vision while my left saw more clearly, and he responded, "I know, that's why I am righting the prescription for different strengths." And I was like, "ok, whew," and then he left. I spent far more time with Andrew then I did with Dr. Blaze, but the experience worsens. I went to see the man who works with the glasses. At this time I found out that the prescription showed that my left eye was worse than my right. I explained that this wasn't correct. He told me that I would have to make an appointment to return. Ok, why?? I am sitting right here, right now, I was confident it was just a mistake in the writing since I had just discussed this very issue. This man proceeded to tell me that I may "feel that my right eye is worse, but that the machine is telling me that my left eye is worse." Hmmm. After a great deal of insistence, I was put back in a room and made to wait, again, for Dr. Blaze. Once he finally came back to see me, his first words "so you think I am wrong?" I tried to explain that I thought the left and right eyes numbers were just reversed because one was hand-written, but I never had the opportunity to finish my sentence because he kept interrupting me. I asked if I could finish and he told me, "you've said plenty." He said, "do you want me to check your vision again or not?" Due to a great amount of discomfort I relented and said, "No, I do not." I also requested that my appointment be credited. He turned to his assistant and said, "credit her VSP and get rid of her." I did remind him of the conversation about the right eye and he "uh huh'd" me and I said that he told me he was writing the prescription stronger for the right eye and he responded, "no, I never said that." Ok, well, this is interesting. Either he intentionally wrote the prescription stronger for the left eye, knowing my right eye was weaker, or he simply led me astray in the original meeting and did not address my concern. Either way, incredibly unprofessional. Did he think I would not notice when I got the glasses? I was too shell-shocked during his berating to realize this. Two hours and fifteen minutes, and tears. Doctors should never treat patients this way, if only accountability was an easier process. P.S. - I have a wonderful optometrist now who is patient and kind and listened to my concerns and explained things I never even asked him to. He spent far more time with me as a new patient, but less time in the office overall. And, my left eye is NOT worse than my right and my new glasses say so. read more

I figured it's about time I write a review of Dr. Blaze. About 25-years ago I was searching for an optometrist who could fit contact lenses. My first visit was 4+ hours and I tried on probably a dozen lenses. He got me seeing better than I ever had before. Fast forward 25-years, I now live in nor cal (don't worry, I'm still a so cal native at heart) and make the flight to Dr. Blaze no questions asked once a year. Been a patient for about 30 years. Dr. Blaze is great at fitting and finding solutions for difficult to fit contact lens wearers. I have worn contacts for many years and Dr. Blaze has provided excellent care to keep my vision as good as it can be. I have a very severe astigmatism, keratoconus, and dry eyes that that complicate matters. He prescribed sclera contact lens lens that provide vision correction, are comfortable, and allow sufficient oxygen to reach my eyes. read more
