I have only been to one other eye doctor before seeing Dr. Janay, and I am honestly blown away by the level of professionalism and care she provides every single time I visit her office. I recently suffered a concussion and was experiencing significant dizziness. For several weeks, I couldn't comfortably wear my glasses or contact lenses, which was both frustrating and concerning. When I explained not only what I was experiencing physically but also my financial situation, Dr. Janay met me with compassion, flexibility, and understanding. She worked with me on a payment structure so I could still be seen, which meant more than I can express. What truly stood out was how she handled the appointment itself. She reassured me that my prescription had not changed and took the time to clearly explain that the symptoms I was experiencing were normal following a concussion. She was patient, thorough, and incredibly calming. She allowed me to be vulnerable about my concerns and genuinely put my mind at ease by letting me know that everything was going to be okay. I have been coming here for several years and am constantly impressed by how kind everyone in the office is. They are respectful of your time and go out of the way for their patients. Yeah, yes, they were amazing. Great staff great! All the way from the receptionist to the nice lady with the red hair that does some testing and the doctor was fabulous. She had a great sense of humor and she really is into the eye business. She told us she was a nerd which was hilarious then they let us try on glasses and have requested that they be special ordered and sent quickly which we believe they will do. Go elsewhere - do not see Dr. Melissa or Dr. Kristi. First, I would like to point out that this review is regarding the owners of this practice. I normally see Dr. Jenay and she is amazing. I have terrible vision, -14 with astigmatism, floaters, vitreous detachment and dry eye so it's really hard for me to find anybody that understands my conditions. Dr. Jenay does that and more. However, at times I have had to see other doctors at this practice when she was away or unavailable. First, I'd like to talk about Dr. Kristi who I saw last year when I had double vision in one eye. She recommended eye drops that made my eyes more dry. She recommended a vision therapy clinic, I scheduled an appointment there and they told me they don't even provide the vision therapy required there. The craziest thing about that visit was that she asked me if I see double vision without my contacts or glasses mind you that I see nothing without contacts/glasses and she as an optometrist should know that as that's common knowledge for someone with such a high prescription. I saw my doctor earlier this year. It was a great visit and I ordered contacts and some tinted glasses as she recommended. I was told that my contacts will be deemed medically necessary, and that they checked with my insurance. I get a bill last week saying it was not covered by my insurance, I speak to them on the phone and I asked them why that is, why am I getting a bill four months later? Why did they not check with my insurance before I made such a large order? They go back back-and-forth and they tell me they are willing to give me a 20% discount on my visit and on the Contacts. So I respond saying OK thank you but next time please make sure you check with Insurance beforehand because I would've not have ordered contact through you guys and I would've gone through Costco or elsewhere. Regardless, I was really disappointed because I got a bill for hundreds of dollars. They didn't send me any instructions on how to pay and obviously I was going to pay my bill just like I have been for years coming to. Come June, I'm going on a trip so I asked if I could order daily contacts, they said I can talk to the doctor so I talk to another doctor, Dr. Melissa. I go back-and-forth with her over the phone saying I wore these daily contacts for a decade and a half and she insists that I need to come into the office and get fitted for Contacts I already have. I had been wearing these contacts sinde I was 14 years old but anyway, we agreed that I will come the next day at 1 PM. I was frustrated and didn't have a good experience. Then I get a call saying that they don't want me to come and that they don't meet my vision needs and they would like to refund everything I've paid them and that they don't wanna see me anymore. Dr. Melissa didn't seem like she liked me over the phone, maybe because I was so unhappy with the hundreds of dollars I owed them or frustrated because I had to be fitted for contacts I had been wearing forever. I'm only human and I am entitled to being frustrated at times. No matter how unhappy I am though, I never cuss or threaten because that's not me. I feel like her and Dr. Kristi, her sister, both don't like me. And that's OK, they don't have to like me. They are doctors and they're supposed to treat patients regardless of their feelings towards them. During the phone call I'm told that they cannot meet my vision needs. Again, that doesn't make sense because Dr. Jenay had been meeting my vision needs. They for sure can't because according to the questions they had asked me in the past, they're not as experienced with someone with terrible vision like myself. They are either basing this because they don't like me or because they don't wanna deal with someone with bad Vision like mine. I already have such a hard time going to an optometry office and they have made this experience the worst. I've been visiting optometry offices since I was 6, I'm 32 now and have never been so humiliated by any medical facility. Also I've tried to speak to Dr Jenay twice this week and they basically banned me from doing so! read more

The eye doctor assistant, Jonathan, was very professional and kind in doing the various eye tests. Dr. Germundsen explained everything that was going on with my eyes after her examination. Loved this place! Needed to get a new eyeglass prescription. Chose to go to Beachside Optometry because of all the great Yelp reviews, and it did not disappoint. They started off by doing various examinations of my eye health. I've had some of those tests in the past, but this place seems to have more state-of-the-art equipment. After that, I was met by Dr. Janay who was great! She is super nice, professional, and a great sense of humor, too, which put me at ease. She went through the results of the eye scans with me. I felt that I got a lot more value from the tests that were run than I typically have gotten from other places. I usually don't leave reviews, but I couldn't resist sharing my experience at Beachside Optometry. I've been a loyal customer for over five years, and I've always felt that they were the best optometrists in town. But this year, due to my aging (40+) and active lifestyle, I decided to switch to contacts and they really proved how much they care for each patient. Dr. Kevin and Dr. Kristy were incredibly patient and attentive to every detail of my eyes. I have completely different prescriptions for each eye, which is quite unusual. Dr. Kristy never rushed into finding the right contact and prescription for each eye. Instead, she kindly had me try at least ten different lenses without complaining or rushing. She always wanted my honest opinion on each new trial so that she could make the best adjustments possible to ensure the best fitting and vision. For my demanding job and active lifestyle, Dr. Kristy even suggested three different sets of lenses that I absolutely loved. This is a rare feat for a doctor, and I was truly impressed. I'm incredibly grateful for their attention, time, and the numerous fittings and adjustments they made to find the right set of contacts for my busy lifestyle.
