The frames they sell at this location are very unique and well built. I've always enjoyed my time coming to this location to see their unique collection of frames. Staff for the most part are friendly and are willing to work with you to ensure your frames fit properly. Be careful with buying lenses from this location however. Recommendation is to buy frames from the location and get your lenses elsewhere. I could not give this store a full five stars due to this problem. Their lenses are poor quality unfortunately, and if you spend extra money to get it coated with protective filters, you will spend the entirety of your day cleaning your glasses. At times my poor glasses have pools of oil collected towards the corners which make them look unsightly. Cleaning them requires use of a decent microfiber cloth and a solvent of some kind. Even then, my lenses are now scratched up due to the immense amount of cleaning required for them. Considering the cost I paid for the lenses, and how quickly they degraded in less than a year, I feel that I could have gotten them from a discounted location if I'm going to deal with the same problem. It's just a shame that my nice frames are hindered by these lenses. Management refuses to acknowledge the issue or educate its customers on proper cleaning. I can recommend this place for its frames. They're beautiful. But get your lenses fitted elsewhere to bring down the cost of your glasses. read more

SEE Eyewear in Chicago was a lifesaver! I got glasses from SEE in Denver in June and was moving to Boston in early August when one of the arms popped off through no fault of mine. We happened to be stopping in Chicago to visit friends on our way and so we showed up at SEE on Armitage at 6:50pm. They noted that I didn't do anything to cause the break and immediately found that the SEE on Clark had my frames in stock so called them to have them held. Since it was closing time, Bridget did a quick fix on my current frames to get me through the night and the next morning I went to the Clark St store where they popped my lenses into the new frames and everything was good to go. I went to SEE on Armitage based on a friend's recommendation. It was a terrible mistake. The frame that the salesperson helped me pick out was not the right frame for my face due to my low bridge. When I got the glasses 2.5 weeks later, it basically fell off my nose and if I pushed it up it would touch my eyelid. The second salesperson told me I could pick out another frame for free and she would "rush" the new order . Day 15 after the 2nd visit, I called the store and they said the glasses just came but the axis was not centered and he was going to have someone looked it over. Day 17, Britney the supervisor called me back and she was the most appalling person and has the poorest customer service I have ever met. She said I should be grateful that I got to re-do and it wasn't SEE's fault about the frame. I asked for cash refund but the Policy is store credit only. I will not patronize SEE again and will not recommend SEE to anyone. STAY AWAY!! read more

I use to love this place because i purchased a pair of glasses about 8 months ago with them using a groupon and although the young lady who was helping us, came off a bit snooty, we overlooked it and i fell in love with my glasses. I recently had these same glasses stolen while i was traveling from airport to airport and since i am a college student, i cannot afford the prices at see. So i decided to resort to online stores that were cheaper. I simply called into SEE to ask about my prescription and if i can pick it up since i knew they had it on file. The woman was very rude to me and talked down to me making me feel like I was a child. Im pretty sure this girl was no more than 25 years old and im 21 so im not much younger than her. She said that she couldnt give out my prescription and wouldnt tell me why she couldnt. My mother then called in because she would not stand for it, and the girl argued with her and talked over her saying "I am not going to argue with you ma'am" in a very rude and condescending manner. After 10 mins of my mom trying to nicely explain what the situation was, the young woman HUNG UP on my mom and said she didnt want to deal with someone who was arguing with her, when my mom was simply asking what she could do to get my prescription. UNBELIEVABLE. These people are snooty, arrogant, rude, and too young to understand that you should never speak to a costumer that way, ever. We walked in Saturday at 10 AM. The sales rep was completely uninterested in helping us, answering questions, or even saying more than a Hello. There was no one else in the store, so it wasnt like he was busy with other customers. We chose a pair of glasses. There was no eye doctor so we had to schedule an appointment for 3 days later. The disinterested salesman, of course, failed to mention that once you have your prescription it take 7 to 10 business days to get the glasses. For being a no-brand they were not cheap. Since they are down the street from us we thought it would be convenient to get our glasses there. They are neither cheap, nor convenient, their salesperson made it clear he could not have cared less even after it was clear we were there to buy something. They look nice, but for the level of service and price, I should have taken the L a couple of stops to Lens Crafters. I suggest you take your business to a better place. read more

She was friendly, helpful, and quick to offer an opinion, though in a productive, non-pushy way. I said I'd come back in a few days with my girlfriend so I could get a second opinion on the glasses I had in mind. Two days later, I returned, girlfriend in tow, and was helped by Bridgit S. and Bridget K., who again were happy to offer their thoughts in a quirky, fun, and interesting way. Once we settled on prescription glasses for me, and a pair of sunglasses, too, my girlfriend began to look at frames. This was already past 7pm (closing time), yet the staff were helpful and accommodating, despite it being quittin' time. Between my girlfriend and me, we bough four pairs of glasses for a very reasonable price, and we were able to save nearly $300 thanks to the Yelp deal! This place is definitely worth stopping by when you're looking for new prescription glasses, sunglasses, or just to browse. SEE Eyewear, and Sean especially, have great customer service at the Armitage location. I got a groupon for glasses, which I also got about 8-9 years ago, which were my last pair of glasses, so I was due for a new pair. I loved my old pairs, but they were a bit outdated. I remember having such a great experience last time, with good quality and finding a cool funky style that made me happy. This visit, I had buyer's remorse because I bought a pair that were a little too trendy for the lifestyle I live and the career direction I am going in, so I ended up calling to try to get out of this dilemma. Sean was super understanding and made me feel comfortable with wanting to exchange for a more practical pair. He was so patient and accomodating to me to make sure that I was going to end up satisfied and happy with my decision. I ended up with a more classic look, but with a touch of flair that SEE always brings. SEE frames are F-I-R-E, chic, unique, hip, and cool. Dare I say sexy. They are particularly hip and cool for people who don't want to look like they are trying hard to look hip and cool. Stay out of Warby Parker. Their frames are low quality and everyone, including someone's grandchildren, will have on your frames. SEE is singularly unique and the customer service in the Armitage store should win an Emmy. Ask for Sean. He has an incredible level of taste and sense for fashion. I've had over six pairs of frames from SEE, most with transitions, and my partner has had two. We love SEE. We fly into town from Kentucky and New York to just get our glasses. Although it's a bit pricey, I absolutely loved all of the funky glasses styles that are on sale at SEE. They're so unique and interesting; they fit my personality perfectly! I visited Chicago in the beginning of August, and I knew that I wanted to visit an eyewear shop where I could get a nice pair of modern glasses not available in my provincial area. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the kind and helpful young woman who helped me, but she was amazingly good at helping me choose the right pair of glasses. I randomly walked into a SEE by my office in the suburbs just to peruse the frame selections and I was hooked. I was in need of an eye exam since moving from home and this place had a good price. My first visit resulted in an exam and two new frames. Sadly the location by my office was closed, but I live near two other locations. A year later I went back for my next exam and got tow new pairs and prescription sunglasses. I love the selection, the price, the customer service and the ever changing deals/steals. I went to See yesterday and today to pick out my first pair of glasses. I had no idea what I wanted, and yesterday Erica pulled about a million pairs for me to try on. Today I went back and ended up buying the first pair that she had my try. I told her I wanted something hip but not goofy, and the ones I ended up with her perfect. They are very cool but subtle. I don't know the name of the woman working today, but she was also very helpful and answered all of my questions about insurance and payments (I applied for the See credit card, which gave me an extra 10% off on top of the insurance discount and lets me make interest free payments for 6 months). I've been shopping around for glasses for a few days, and See ended up being less expensive than some of the other boutiques because the price includes lenses. I guess I don't have much to compare it to, but See seems great to me! read more

I did not actually purchase eyewear or have an eye exam. I brought my daughter in to have her glasses (which were purchased on line at Warby Parker) adjusted. SEE did this for free. The man helping us was incredibly kind and informative. He helped fit the glasses to my daughters head and even gave her some useful tips since this was her first pair of glasses. Not the cheapest frames, but you get what you pay for, and my frames which I had now owned for 3 months are still in tip-top shape. I heart these people. I had purchased two frames from them and ended up having issues with the lense prescription, which another eye doctor had written for me. The people at SEE were totally willing to accommodate me and switch out the lenses free of charge if I needed to. I ended up figuring out my issue was due to the fact that I wear gas permeable contact lenses and therefore my glasses prescription will be different depending on how long I have had my contacts out on any given day. Anyway, I decided to keep the lenses as is, but in going back to visit I found yet another pair of frames that I just had to have. I explained that out of the two frames I had already purchased and owned for a few weeks, I was really only favoring one, and that this third pair was a must have. The manager was so awesome, she let me trade out the second frame for the new frame only paying the difference in price of the new frame. They cut the new lenses for me for free. How awesome is that?! I feel spoiled. Also, picking out my frames was so much fun. The staff was brutally honest...not shy about giving their thoughts AT ALL...but they were funny. I would argue with them, one would take my side, the others would disagree. I left there feeling like I had just been shopping with my best friends. I've gotten several pairs of glasses here over the years and I've always been satisfied. They're kind of like the Trader Joes of glasses stores so their prices are very reasonable since everything is See brand. The frames selection can be a little limited (e.g. all trendy frames look alike) depending on when you happen to go, but with a little patience you can find something truly unique and of good quality. Also their eye doctors are really nice and didn't even mind my but-I-don't-know-which-lens-helps-me-see-better anxiety during the eye exam. The only things I don't love are that I'm still not clear on what my insurance does and doesn't cover even after shopping there all these years, and not all the staff members are super friendly (although to be fair, most of them are). Lastly, I am able to get my contacts there as well, which is great, and they don't even mind when I ask to use their clearly non-public restroom. read more

So I've been buying glass from SEE Eyewear since 2003. Wow, can't even believe how fast time is flying. Anyway, I'll be honest and straight forward with you. There are three major reasons I go to SEE: 1) The staff (especially Bridgette) is incredible to work with. They are very patient, and do a great job balancing the time they spend with you - even if the store is packed. I love it because they are also very honest. If a pair of frames don't look good on my face, then they politely find a way to show you something that may be a better fit more the shape of my face. Kudos on that! 2) The style of the glasses are one of a kind, and very unique - unlike most places. First of all, even if you're a 'name brand horror' this place will be a easy transition for you - especially if you value individual style. Come on people, who cares if you're wearing Prada glasses? That was like so 90's anyway. The best part is that they always impress me with the new designs they come out with. I still have yet to ever bump into anyone with my same frames on or a pair that even look similar to them. I don't know about you, but my glasses are a definitely a fashion statement about who I am as a person and they carry the glasses that do all the talking for me. 3) The prices. One easy price. None of that "you have to pay for the lenses separate from the frames" crap! People now want things made very simple. They get that, and I don't I have ever paid for a pair of glasses over $250 or $300 (all in). Listen, I have no affiliation with this place other than being a valued customer. I have nothing but positive things to say about SEE. I came to replace an old pair of glasses that were giving me headaches. The frame selection is awesome. I'm not into the funky frames but I found a great pair in the core collection. I don't have vision insurance but Sydney was able to give me a discount through my health insurance which was awesome. Sydney helped me pick out and order my frames and which lenses to order. I had a prescription from a different optometrist which was a mistake in hindsight. The glasses arrived as expected and were beautiful. The only problem was the prescription was wrong and they were giving me awful migraines. Sydney went above and beyond checking the lens material, adjustments and finally when it became apparent they would need to be replaced she helped me do so. I think you need to know before you go, they only sell their own house brand frames. When I made my appt I told them I was coming in for glasses, yet they did not tell me this. When I got there I did not like their frames, I told them thanks but I would go somewhere else. They told me they would pull my pre-auth from my insurance. 3 days later they still did not pull the pre-auth, so I could not make another appt.
