all the glasses i tried on. they sanitized all of them individually after my use.
    Mary Kate E.

Today was a nerve wracking day for me since I had to get glasses for the first time. Being in my mid-30s and having to make this adulting decision, it really was weighing on me to have to go through this. I know, I know, that sounds a bit dramatic, but really, I was hoping I didn't have to do this until I was in my 40s. #FirstWorldProblems #GoodEyesUntilTheyWeren't What exceptional customer service I had today! I felt at ease when I had the chance to work with Dr. Shea. She was extremely professional and patient with me. She took her time, explained everything she was doing, and informed of information in a way that I comprehended. Keep in mind, this was my first time getting glasses. The ladies that assisted me were fun, outgoing personalities who vibed with me super well, and just overall comforting through the experience. I should also mention I tried on a TON of glasses. I was appreciative of their patience. After having my eye exam, I spent the better half of an hour and a half getting glasses. I couldn't decide! I felt like I was picking out a wedding dress, but with less formality but with as many opinions. I texted my friends and my family to get their two cents since I was so indecisive. What I went in expecting to leave with didn't happen. I got these super funky glasses that are everything I'd want in them. They're fun and definitely versatile. Price-wise, they're on point for what I'd expect to pay. I have insurance. With eye exam, one pair of glasses, and blue glare coding for my lenses, my total was $282. I am not sure what it would cost for everything if I did not have vision insurance through EyeMed. It was worth visiting here and getting glasses here since they have such a vast selection. I also liked that the lenses for the glasses are made from a family owned company based out of Detroit. First time getting some specks? Go see SEE Inc.!

What I love about Warby is that they take both FSA and HSA. They also measure pupillary distance on the spot via their in-app, staff-operated iPads. Be sure to bring in your own, updated prescription if you want to purchase glasses that day. You can always update them later, but it makes it easier on everyone if you have a digital or hard copy. Adjustments are free, and they have low-bridge varieties for all my APIA/AAPI fam out there. Remember that sunglasses and glasses frames are pretty interchangeable for whichever one you prefer: they are all just frames. There is an optometrist on site (pun intended) if you need one and didn't have a prescription. Warby also does their own contact lenses, but I haven't tried them, so I can't really tell you much about them: only that they, like their frames, seem affordable. The only slightly tricky situation is parking. There is plenty of street parking should you choose to arrive on a random Tuesday midday. I imagine there would be less so on a busy Friday evening considering the many restaurants nearby. There is a paid lot, but they were renovating it when I was there.

I had a very disappointing and upsetting experience with Green Hills Eyecare…read more I paid almost $800 for a pair of prescription glasses. The frames looked good when I selected them, but once the prescription lenses were installed, the glasses were extremely heavy on my nose--to the point that they caused pain and left an indentation. After about two weeks, I returned to the practice. I never saw Dr. Waymer again after my initial examination and instead dealt with Mike, the optician who handles the eyewear sales. The practice took the glasses back, but I later received messages pressuring me to come in and select another pair. I was sick and then overseas, so approximately three weeks passed before I was able to return. When I finally went back with my 17-year-old daughter to choose a smaller, lighter frame, the experience became even worse. Mike appeared upset and barely spoke to me. Another staff member, whose name I believe was Chelsea/Chelsey, approached me with what both my daughter and I perceived as an unnecessarily confrontational attitude. She told me that my options were essentially to take the original glasses back that day or receive only $318 back, even though I had paid almost $800 for the glasses. I repeatedly asked them to work with me. I was not asking for anything extravagant--I simply wanted to choose a smaller, lighter and even less expensive frame that I could comfortably wear. Instead, Mike told me that if I wanted replacement glasses, I would have to pay approximately another $470 on top of what I had already paid. I found this completely unreasonable. I left the office without glasses. What concerned me even more happened afterward. The following week, I called because I wanted an appointment with Dr. Waymer. I was still experiencing symptoms from my previous visit and was also seeing white flashes in my vision. I was questioned about my symptoms and was not given an appointment. I called again on subsequent days and still could not get an appointment with the doctor. This is what ultimately made this experience so troubling. A disagreement over expensive glasses is one thing, but I do not believe a dispute with the optical/sales side of a practice should interfere with a patient's ability to request medical care from their eye doctor, particularly when reporting a new visual symptom. I paid nearly $800 for prescription glasses, plus the cost of my examination and approximately $150 for prescribed eye drops, and ultimately left without usable glasses and feeling that I was treated disrespectfully rather than helped. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice. I hope Dr. Waymer personally reviews what occurred, including how my eyewear issue was handled and my subsequent attempts to obtain an appointment. After spending all this money, being treated this way, and leaving without the prescription glasses I paid for, I feel robbed. I paid almost $800 for the glasses, around $170 for the consultation, and $150 for eye drops, and then Mike wanted another $470 just to replace the painfully heavy glasses with a smaller, cheaper pair. I left with no glasses. Even more concerning, when I later called with continuing symptoms and white flashes in my vision, Chelsea and another staff member, Barbilla, repeatedly refused to schedule me with Dr. Waymer. Based on my experience, it felt as though Chelsea was doing everything possible to prevent me from speaking directly with Dr. Waymer, who owns the practice, about what had happened. Again. I feel robbed.

Using their online portal, I scheduled exams for me and my husband around three weeks in advance. As with any doctor, I recommend double checking with your insurance company before booking to make sure you're covered. The Green Hills Eyecare team also followed up with me over the phone after I booked my appointments to confirm all of my insurance information and medical history. The office is located on the third floor of an easy-to-access medical building, complete with free parking. We arrived and filled out some paperwork, before beginning our exams. Hayley and Dr. Waymire were so friendly and knowledgable, offering helpful explanations to any and all of our questions. Bonus ... for anyone who hates that dreaded prick of air to dilate your eyes, you'll be pleased to know this office does things a little differently! We didn't purchase new frames this time around, but Mike the optician was happy to print out our prescriptions and provide some advice for future purchases. I absolutely recommend Green Hills Eyecare if you're in need of an eye exam - we look forward to returning for our next annual visit!

My husband and I recently stopped in to update our prescriptions and order some new frames - and they had us in and out in 30 minutes. If you've new to Warby Parker, I actually recommend utilizing their "home try-on" service on their website. Certainly you can go into the store and try on as many pairs as you want ... but why would you do that when they'll ship five pairs to your door for you to try for free?? We've always brought outside prescriptions into Warby - but I appreciate the fact that they have an eye doctor on-site. Some vision insurances are accepted ... definitely double check their website or call the store for more details on your specific policy. I'm pretty particular about my frames - and usually just re-order the ones I'm currently using with an updated prescription. While you can do this online too, we've found it's a bit easier to have a team member place your order from the store. We also recently started ordering prescription sunglasses from Warby - what a game changer!

The staff were short and rude, not explaining how they already had my insurance when this was the first time I'd been there and I hadn't given any info. "We have it!" was all they'd say, rudely. I got the pre-stuff done with pictures etc and was told "The doctor will see you when she gets here." This was already 10 minutes past my appointment time. The doctor had not arrived to the building and yet that was the time my appointment would be cancelled. I finally saw the doctor about 25 minutes after my appointment time began. She was quiet, but nice and gave me my prescription. I asked if this was all I'd need for glasses and she said yes. I got my prescription and left only to find out they leave an important piece of info off of it. When I called to ask they said "it's a medical appliance so liability wise they can't give me that part." I reiterated how ridiculous that sounded as if there was liability in half of the prescription but not the other. (Ps. their solution was to measure my eyes myself.) If I had bought glasses from them, they'd have given me that number, but because I didn't, they can't. They only want your money, they do not want to actually do their jobs. They require photos to be done that are strategically also not a part of insurance or the same price as copays. They're literally forcing you to pay for something you don't need, that insurance won't cover, so they can make that cash. Will literally NEVER return.
