I had a scheduled volunteer day and time and woke up on time to go and i texted POC to confirm and they told me that the other volunteer wouldn't be in (if i didnt confirm with a text i probably would have shown up without notice) and i reached out to schedule another day and received no word. I would say i am fairly patient and understanding person with rescues because they are so busy but i would recommend for this rescue to have a dedicated staff member to help volunteers and have a calendar put together and just be better organized. I unfortunately wont be volunteering here anymore. They are doing good work but im bummed because i did want to volunteer here but as a person that values organization it just didnt fit.

Everything is donated and appears to be fast fashion-think SHEIN and lots of polyester, everything goes to charity so there's that I suppose. The workers are entirely volunteer based which makes for a poor system, resulting in the service being almost too attentive with the staff immediately asking what you're looking for and approaching you the minute you pull something off to get a closer look. For example I had to remove some dresses to even be able to look at the dresses but one of the volunteers asks if I wanted her to hold them but then stood there waiting for me to be done which felt uncomfortable to say the least. Because everyone's a volunteer they're bored and try to be "too helpful" in that you can't look in peace and feel constantly watched. In addition the racks were packed way too tight, making it almost impossible to look at the clothes individually. Hard pass for me thank you.

If you are a fan of the Huntington Collection in Pasadena, you'll be sure to love the Bargain Box. Just like the Huntington Collection, I can't call it a thrift shop since it's not like any thrift shops I've been to! Looks more like an expensive antique shop when you step inside. I was blown away by the quality of the available merchandise, especially the housewares and decor. It's very evident that all of the pieces on sale were meticulously cleaned and staged by the hardworking staff. All of the furniture and housewares are excellent condition, not to mention very well priced. Make a point to visit before Halloween! The store is all decked out with Halloween decor! The Bargain Box is managed by the Assistance League of Arcadia, and one of their worthy endeavors is Operation School Bell, which provides much needed clothing as well as school supplies such as backpacks and books to children in need in neighboring local schools. There's a small parking lot but there should be plenty of street parking available if needed. Also, be aware that the store has limited hours since it's managed by volunteers. It's only open two days a week, Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 10am to 1pm.

They fill a shopping basket overflowing with fresh fruit and vegetables, canned goods, dairy products, boxed and packaged items such as pastas, beverages, breads, desserts, and even eggs. You never know what you will get, but it is worth hundreds of dollars in value! They have it down to a smooth running system, with the cars coming in, getting loaded up and then exit out. The traffic gets a little backed up on the street, but that's expected. Everyone working is volunteering their time, so people waiting in their cars need to be patient and kind. In fact, why not come volunteer yourself!

Since we made about 90 kits, she figured it would be best for us to deliver them to an organization that assists those in need, and she found Foothill Unity Center. Foothill Unity Center is a multi-service agency that provides services to individuals and families in need. Founded in 1980 by Josephine Anderson, the center has become a source for food, health services, and crisis assistance to thousands of low-income families in the SGV. The place is clean and spacious and the staff were friendly and gracious for our donation. It felt nice to do something good for others and give back to the community. The security guard on duty was an absolute doll - polite, friendly, and respectful. He made our day as much as we made his. They accept donations of any kind and you can drop off during business hours 8 am - 4:30 pm Mon - Fri. It is imperative that we encourage & support their education & initiative so that they will be able to handle & manage the problems in our future society. The backyard fund raiser was a good way to interact & network with people from diverse backgrounds & cultures as well as meeting many people (straight & LGBT) representing different organizations that function as the checks & balances needed in a free society. The level of care provided to kitties at national Cat protection society is just amazing! The detail in which the have to cater to each cat is amazing! I love this school for my kids…read more My two- and four-year-old enrolled kids have been enrolled each for about a year now and have learned a lot and have a schedule thanks to Happy Campers. I would struggle with implementing nap time when they were home with me. Something about being with other kids who all need to take a nap and know the schedule really helped my kids. I follow the school schedule even on weekends. It is a Montessori based school and they accept Options for Learning payments. There are a lot of Asian teachers and students enrolled. They even encourage me to start potty training my daughter. Their knowledge and belief that she is capable and ready makes me more confident to get started. Also, I have spoken to the parents of several kids who graduated onto first grade from the school, and they have each said their kid is at the top of their class and ahead.
