Whatever amazing things you've read about Sukhi before, is all true! I ordered a salwar online and one of the measurements was incorrectly made (was too tight) and the chemise was peeking out of the kameez. What did Sukhi do? Loosened the kameez as much as she could and shortened the chemise. Also, she did me a huge favor by finishing it in a day because I needed it for a special occasion. Seerat is a talented seamstress, and I was incredibly pleased with her work. She altered an anarkali gown for me, which had a thick fabric to work with, and a lot of workmanship on the upper area. It was a challenging alteration which required resizing the shoulders and waist to adhere to my proportions, and also shorten the length of the sleeves. She pulled this off beautifully, and within two weeks-- just in time for my Sangeet! Took some items in for alterations and this is the WORST experience ina ever had. She does not know how to do alterations. She made a sea but did not even trim seams. There is a huge amt of fabric left i don't know how this can be fixeaanyonecansewastraightlineanddonothingelse. On top of that she charged me75.00 and it was worth 0 dollars. The dress looks quite flattering on me and I've bought quite a few items since then and every time she has been able to deliver above and beyond. I do recommend trying on the item before you leave since the prefect fit sometimes needs minor adjustments. Sukhi is an amazing tailor and perhaps one of the better ones in the South Bay area. She's very good at listening to what you want and suggesting alternatives which would suit the material and your style as well. I was in desperate need of a tailor to alter some Indian clothes I bought online as well as stitch some Indian blouses, and she did the job very well. She's also personable and easy to work with. The one caveat I'd say is that she's definitely busy and hence you will have to wait a bit for the work to get done. And her prices for blouses are definitely on the pricey side. I took in a dress to get taken in about an inch and the hem raised about 2.5 inches, and I needed it done within a week. It was a bit tricky as it was a mostly seamless dress with the only seam at the zipper. She asked if it was okay if she added a pleat in the back, I said yes, but was admittedly concerned how it would look on the dress. She had the work done within a day, was very flexible about when I could pick it up, the dress fit perfectly and the pleats (two, one on either side of the zipper) looked totally natural on the dress! It was a very disappointing experience after checking all 5 stars review on yelp. I gave her 3 outfits for alterations and none of them were done right. First garment was a simple sleeves attachment with two to three extra stitches so we can adjust it if needs to for loose or tight fittings however, she only did one stitch:(. Even though She told me that she will do 3 stitches. Another was a blouse that needs to be altered, she did not attach the hook and eye at the end of the zipper as it was originally and the decorative laces are missing that was attached when I gave her the garment. My third garment was a saree blouse, she did it very tight with no extra stitches inside for me to remove/alter. I do not have time to go back to her right now because I needed it for a wedding. Sukhi is amazing at what she does. I don't know how anyone can have a bad experience. She is so sweet, beyond accommodating and inexpensive! Over the last year I have had a variety of items altered by her ranging from heavily embroidered Indian blouses and lengha bottom, to dress hems, work slacks and most recently an anarkali dress. Not only does she take accurate measurements to give you a perfect fit she does it super fast. The other day I needed something last minute for an upcoming wedding she agreed to alter it within days without giving me a hard time about the tight timeline. I went thinking she could just pull in the sides but she explained to me why that wouldn't be a good idea and suggested she put in a zipper. Now the anarkali fits so beautifully and I love the zipper! I have tried other places before coming to her and no one compares.
