The staff were warm and friendly to the white customers ahead of me--offering free samples and complimentary ribbon wrapping. When it was my turn, their tone shifted completely. They were cold, dismissive, and visibly uninterested in helping me. My questions were met with rudeness, no samples were offered, and I was told I'd have to pay for ribbon wrapping. I love this place and the employees are always friendly, but uhm whoever is teaching the new girl to put 11 pieces in a 12 piece box...I was too timid to say anything at the moment but I always get the same thing every month for my time of the month, 12 pieces fit Perfectly into it of all of my favorites...but it was her first day and the lady was training her....so I didn't want to correct her about my order. But I didn't get offered a sample today either......so maybe next time I'll just ask them for 2 Samples for my missing piece next month. Lol especially when it's that time of the month. I came here today and the lady who helped me was so incredibly nice!! I want to say a big thank you to her, she was so patient with me, answered all my questions, and didn't rush me -which is so nice these days because everyone is go-go-go! See's is The Happy Habit for over 100 years! No preservatives, the chocolate is delicious and all Sees candies are made in California with local butter and cream. The chocolates are rich and creamy, not drippy (except for the cherries which are classic), not too thick or dry. I'm a victim of hit and run at this plaza 10212 NE 8th St, Bellevue, WA 98004. It caused me a lot of dramas in emotional and financial. It caused me over $2k to fix my car. The security was helpful but the security cameras are the worst quality cameras I've ever seen. these cameras couldn't record or read a license plat of the person who hit my car in approximate 30 feet distance. Soooo sweet! As in SOOOOO SWEET! See's Candies is simply good old-fashioned deliciousness. Every guest is welcomed upon entering the shop, and offered a full piece of complimentary candy (not those little tiny 1/8ths of a piece - we are talking a full truffle!). The ladies dress in attire from the 1950s and they are all attentive and nice as can be. They take PRIDE in what they do and what the sell. The candies are delish! I recommend anything in white chocolate (the cashew caramel cluster is TDF!) and the chewy, nutty caramels are out of this world. Even though there was a lot of customers in this tiny space due to the holidays being so soon I was helped very efficiently. They were giving out free samples which I loved! Sees is my favorite chocolate of all time. I am just choosing this branch because it happens to be the one near my home. Part of the reason why it is my favorite is that I connect it with childhood adventures with my grandmother and trips to California from my native NYC, where we had no See's =o(. I have had all kinds of couture chocolate, including regular trips to Jacques Torres which is a few blocks away from my NYC home. As much as I have enjoyed different fancy chocolates, if I had to never eat chocolate again and I had to choose one last chocolate to eat, it would be the dark chocolate bordeaux. I don't even know how to describe the bordeaux, except to say that it made my formerly chocolate-hating fiance a chocolate fiend. Give it a try and let it melt in your mouth. Some of my other favorites are the scotchmallow, the molasses chips, and the chocolate buttercream. They also have a treat for every holiday. Their best is their Easter selection, with beautiful buttercream filled eggs. Great for gifts and kids. They also have great hard candy options, like tasty butterscotch lollipops and sugar sticks in fruity flavors, though I have not seen this last one around lately. Every time you walk in the door, which feels more like a soda shop out of the fifties or something, a sales associate dressed immaculately in white will offer you a free sample, and you can sample any thing else you would like to buy. Taking a trip to See's is like going backwards to a time when everything was fun, sweet, and simple. And when you walk back out into the real world, you've still got a bag full of awesome candy. read more

Living next to See's has never been so dangerous now that we have a NEW OBSESSION! I've gone here like 5 times in the last two weeks and each time is just as delightful as the last. The ladies that work here are sooo sweet and you already know their candy is amazing! I'm mostly here to boast about their amazingly delicious caramel chew that is currently taking over my life.... I've tried just about every other chocolate they carry to see if it can compare (kid you not we have about 4 pounds of sees at home!!) as well as caramels from every other chocolate place and NOTHING COMPARES! This is probably the smallest See's that I've ever been in. They close earlier than everything around them (they should stay open as late as Pasta & Co). They don't do the corporate discount (which is 20% or 25% off a large selection of boxes). The positive - I found Irish Spuds the day after St Patricks Day plus they were 20% off - so I got one of my favorite annual treats. read more

I have been going to the See's Candy Bellevue for several years now. What can I say, the ladies at the counter entice me with their "Would you like to try a candy?". Not that I need much enticing. Needless to say my wallet and waist are proof of my Sees candy devotion. So I visit the store as usual today. The martinet at the counter gives me a grim look and my mind goes "Why the glum face? Are they going out of business?" No free candy offered either. I ask for a half pound box and she gives me, in that order, a dramatic sigh, a hell-just-froze-over look and makes the box. Iam thinking, "Well maybe she is just having a bad day", when a customer walks up behind me and the Ice Queen suddenly melts into the brightest smile and walks right past me to offer the new comer a candy. So we get to the counter and she rings me up with not so much as a thank you or even basic eye contact. And the best of all, her name is (wait for it) Kandy!!!! I walked out feeling bad for a bit, but then realized with all the other great chocolate stores out there, maybe this is Nature's way of telling me to end my See's Candy devotion. I visited this Bellevue Sees Candies store today and was treated rudely/hostilely and it felt racist. I am a person of color and had just opened the door and was still standing in the doorway entrance, when an older heavyset white woman (dark haired, glasses, scowling angry face) behind the counter yelled rudely at me from across the room that I needed to stand outside. She was loud and yelled from across the room, like I was a criminal walking into the store. There were just 2-3 customers in the store and I was wearing a mask. I kindly stepped outside the store (2 feet from the door)- I never spoke a word. She then proceeded to walk outside and very rudely (again) yelled at me to stand in a particular spot (one foot from where I was standing) and then proceeded to pull a ridiculous "string" in front of the "line." Note there was NO line (other people waiting to go in) - I was the only person standing outside. I'm not sure if the workers at this store have been trained in customer service or in diversity training but apparently thIs woman has not and has a bad attitude and the way she treated me was unacceptable. I've been a Sees Candies customer for past 30 years. Based on the way this store treated me today, it was unacceptable. I do plan on reporting this store to the corporate office. read more

In the summer, stepping inside the cool black and white checked world of See's is as close to heaven as I think I can get while still on my feet. It doesn't matter which branch, or what year it is, I'm immediately transported back to Long Beach, CA and the See's my grandmother would take me to.... they're all the same and have been since I started going in the '70's. The staff are friendly, not just retail friendly, but truely concerned about your experience, treating you with that mix of formality and familiarity like your aunt, grandma or occasionally your likely-to-be gay male cousin at a holiday event. The first thing, other than the cool air and lovely sweet smell is wondering... 'what's the sample today?' sometimes, you can hear them give the other customers an explaination, but sometimes they choose a different item for you, like you're special. First off, I love See's chocolates! However, on Christmas Eve I had a very bad experience with the customer service at this See's. I had a coupon for a free reusable bag that expired on Christmas Eve. The problem was I couldn't find it (found it today in my messenger bag) and they wouldn't give me the bag without the coupon. There are several issues here: 1. They lost a $40 sale 2. The offer expired that day and they still had a box full of the bags. 3. I obviously knew about the offer so I must have had the coupon at some point - they would not take my word for it. 4. The bag which sold for $1.75 was probably worth about 25 cents, so why not just create goodwill on Christmas Eve, believe me and give it to me. 5. After listening to raving reviews from friends I decided to buy some chocolates to gift on a birthday. I guess I was the first customer on a Tuesday morning and the lady at the counter greeted me and she told me she wanted five minutes to be with me. I knew what I wanted so I just went and picked the chocolates on my own and went to the billing counter and she offered me treats to try but I refused. I was in a hurry and had already decided what I wanted to buy thanks to their webstore. I had a great experience and they have some amazing collection of chocolates. It's your average See's Candies boutique, with your "free sample with foot in the door." Very large selection of chocolates, and my favorite are the truffles and the toffee-ettes. The latter is really just like almond roca, but oh-so-good. A box of mix'n'match is $16/lb. I believe this is pretty standard pricing for most chocolate/candy shops. Anything with nuts will probably be good (get the pecans/almonds/walnuts!!) I would avoid getting the fruity or yogurty stuff because c'mon, who really wants tang with their chocolate? read more
