Being newer to the area I stumbled across this little gem one afternoon while picking up lunch as it shares parking with the another business. The glass is so captivating it will still your attention even if you're in rush. I took some time to research the business, really liked the concept, and most importantly the support yielded to non-profit organizations. Such a disappointing experience from start to end. We were not greeted when we entered , as one woman was too busy in her phone to even look up, and it was just the 2 of us in the store.. I had to say hello and greet them after 30 seconds of being inside. They also do not sell individual drinkers anymore, only in sets. Yes it's cheaper that way but what a bad business decision- would have paid more to buy 2 different glasses. As we were walking to check out, 2 more employees were standing in the way of the register and we had to excuse ourselves to get them to move out of the way so we could pay. All the women were stand off -ish and pretty rude. Although I live not even a half block away, I will be taking myself to eBay next time I'd like any more glassybabies. Problem then is you're sort of stuck with whatever they send you. If it's a gift and you go in to exchange it, you can do so, but your gift recipient has no return options. What a business model! I have been a loyal customer since the very first factory and store opened in Madrona, where I live. I've bought at least 50 of their glassybabys for gifts over the years. I've always hesitated a little because the owner can be quite rude (the staff at the local coffee shop all avoid her!) but today was the final straw. I purchased 8 glassybabys at their 2nd sale online that I intended to use for gifts for my real estate clients. I was sitting across the store at the local restaurant when I did it. I walked across to the glassybaby store to ask for some gift bags. They refused to give me any. I asked to pay for them, they refused. I called their customer service and they refused. I asked for a refund since I don't want to give these as gifts without the gift bags. They refused to even give me a refund. There is no mention of no gift bags included with the second sale. I'm not surprised because the attitude of the owner and company has always been edgy but this is too much. Thanks a lot glassybaby for treating a loyal customer like this. And please note - you should add to your second sale website that there is no mention that you will not provide gift bags. read more

Glassybaby has the worst customer service ever. We have loved their candles for many years, I have several in my home. I recently purchased a set of two for a bridal shower gift. They were expensive but I knew they would be worth it. Wrong.... They each had defects, little bubbles that shouldn't have been there. When I called the company, there was no response. When I emailed, they said imperfections were to be expected. If I wanted to exchange them, I would have to pay all of the shipping costs. You only get one exchange, and I couldn't know if the new ones would also have defects. I wasn't about to spend even more. I will never purchase from them again. read more

I have been a fan and purchaser (in person, Berkeley CA and SF CA) of these and have over 23 in my home...when the CA locations closed, i was sad. I loved the hot shop in Berkeley! I felt proud to support this company with my in person shopping experiences...I decided to purchase 3 more online...but knew that I could be taking quite the chance, since I'd always bought in person, and inspected each one carefully for defects. I do not care to buy them unless they are defect-free. That said, the 3 green ones (all different) were purchased, and fine. The latest one, Jane's Caramel, came and I could see a bubble when lit up. I did not think there would be a problem, just return, and exchange. Well. The exchange policy is such that even if "defective" the customer not only has paid for that item that is being returned, but is to pay return shipping on the defective item, and then shipping to get the new replacement! Ridiculous! Never have i been told this, and I will never pay to return a defective item! That is the cost of doing business online, Glassybaby.. you suck it up and make it right. Not at your customers expense. My last glassybaby, how sad. Perhaps you will change your policies, or perhaps your business model will drive you to close. Who knows? read more

Most dangerous store ever. You really can't walk out with just one glassy baby and therefore easily rack up a $200 bill like nothing. But they last a lifetime and are so darn cute! There is no such thing as having too many. I was in need of some additional glassy's for my new place and was only intending to buy 2 walked out with 4. The selection is always great and I love hearing other people with my same life struggles in the store. I spent 30 mins pacing trying to find the perfect color combination and the other women in the store felt my pain! The only downfall is that the few times I've come the service is not the best ( until you're paying). I came in to find a Mother's day gift for my boyfriends mom and grandmother. I was not acknowledged the entire time I was in the store and did not feel welcome. I was FaceTiming my boyfriend to show him the options for his mom and grandma and I was told very rudely, and loudly, that photographs were not allowed. There are no signs or posts on their website about this "rule," and there are countless pictures in the store on their Yelp page. For a place that I am spending nearly $150 for two candle holders, I would have expected to be treated decently. I ordered a Glassy Baby for a gift and when I opened it the box was torn inside, there was no gift card and the glass was not like the picture on the website at all. I called to see if they could choose another one with better colors and hold it for me. The woman said they couldn't do that. I asked about refunds. She said they don't refund because they donate $3 from each purchase. Right. Keep the three dollars and refund me the $87 for the for the glass. Lesson? This company is full of itself. I was looking for a wedding gift for my brother in law. Nice that they have parking in front of the store as parking is hard to find in downtown Bellevue. It's very simple, industrial space. A few shelves and a lot of candle holders. I see that they are all individually hand blown and have a beautiful story to tell but do they have to be SOOOOO expensive. $44 each, OMG. I think it's great that 10% is going to cancer research but gosh it's expensive. If I pick up a Glassybaby and another similar candle holder, how can I tell this is a Glassybaby? There isn't a signature design or look so my in laws know that I paid ALOT for their gift but I know they will love. The other thing is I took half an hour there trying to find similar size ones. They are different heights so it's not fun to give 4 different size holders. It's nice they have the tea candles so you can put them in the holders and light them in the store. When I lit them up, I kept looking for something magical to happen but nothing happened. They look like any candle holder. The staff there were both very helpful and knowledgeable. They helped me look for the right size as well. Not my cup of tea. This was a gift as I would never spend this much money on myself. read more

As a teacher in the Bellevue area, I received two "Thank You" glassy babies that were identical in color. Today, I went to the store to make an exchange of one for a different color. Upon entering the store, I was ignored for several moments. When I decided to approach a member of the staff who I had noticed was standing and watching but not talking to other customers, I was told to just wait and someone would help me momentarily. This is a reasonable response except that the tone and mannerisms indicated I was somehow less important and apparently did not exude enough privilege or wealth. When the next associate came over to help me and I explained the situation, I was immediately asked if it was in the 30 day return window. Since I had just received the gift from the student last week, I had no idea what the date of purchase was but the student had thoughtfully included a gift receipt. Unfortunately for me, I had missed the allowable return date by two weeks. When I asked the reason for the policy, especially since gift receivers cannot be responsible for when the gift was actually purchased, I was given a weak explanation involving inventory and non-profit status. And again, the tone was disapproving and made it seem that I was taking up valuable time that they preferred to spend with people of wealth who might be there to invest in a sizable purchase. I decided to leave the my extra gift there on the table top for them to resell to another customer as the most polite way I could think of to relay my disappointment with the way they do business. Furthermore, I will recount this experience to anyone I encounter that wants lavish praise on this organization. Glassybaby is not CLASSYbaby. I've never heard of Glassybaby until my co-worker told me about it when we were trying to think of a retirement gift. These are great gifts. Every single one is hand made, with a unique design, and name to go along with it. I know people will just be like, "It's a candle holder, so what?"...but it's more than that. You take hours to think of the perfect descriptive word that would describe that person, look at each individual holder and observe the differences, and then pick based on that. So when you receive a Glassybaby, that person spent a long time choosing which color to give you. Staff is wonderful. Everyone in there that is looking for the perfect gift or addition to their home was willing to help us with which color to choose. Hope that someday someone will give me one! read more

Very rude customer service. I was trying to buy a gift for my mom to gift to someone else and was on FaceTime to see what she wanted me to get as these are very expensive. Some lady rudely interrupted me and said FaceTime is not allowed in this store because it "takes away from other buyers experience in store." There was maybe one other person in the store. I quickly said I'm sorry and hung up the phone. I asked if sending photos was aloud and she also said no since it is an "art gallery." I asked if phone calls are aloud and she said yes which doesn't make much sense if FaceTiming is not aloud. I also asked how much the candles were because there are no price tags anywhere and she quickly listed off all the different candle types and prices and I really had no idea what she was talking about as it was my first time buying. I get that these are spendy, but I love the story behind Glassybaby and i love supporting women in business. I recently met two reps from the Bellevue store at an event and while my friend learned the Glassybaby story and more about the company, I happily treated myself and a few special family members for Christmas. I saved mine until Christmas Day and while I bought based on the colors and the look, imagine my surprise when I opened the box and actually read the little enclosures specifically for "Hero" and "Home Sweet Home" and realized they were more perfect than I realized. There was also much joy in gifting a few of these beauties as I know the recipients loved them. I realllllly didn't need any more but you know...when in Rome...:P Super happy I ran into these ladies at the event and was able to support their business while bringing a smile to a few faces! read more

I received a GlassyBaby as a gift that happened to be purchased by the gift-giver outside of their incredibly short return window (14 days). I simply wanted to do a one-to-one exchange for a different color that would be a better fit for my home color scheme, than the bright blue I was gifted, to which they adamantly refused, stating issues with "covid supply/demand", and that their return policy is strict. So even though I was gifted the item within the timeframe, they wouldn't let me just swap for a different color because the buyer bought it a couple months ago. I just felt like it was really unfair, as far as quality customer service goes. They also still currently sell the color I was exchanging, so it's not like it was seasonal or something! --which I would understand the denial to exchange, then. The store itself is cute, spacious, and full of light (unlike the U Village store which is quite dark and narrow). It's awesome to be able to light them to see which one you like. It's a fun experience picking out the perfect votive, since all of them are handcrafted and so no one glassybaby is the same. It would be nice to have prices displayed. I kept having to ask which ones were how much. The one time I didn't ask and found one that I loved, I was rung up for $80. I get that it's for a good cause, but that is SO steep for something I could make myself with a Groupon to glassblowing. I thought at most the special edition ones would be $60, since the last time I picked a "special" one, it was $60, but this one must be SUPER DUPER special. I ended up buying it with much hesitation, since it was a gift for someone's big birthday, and it was indeed beautiful and partially for a good cause. If I do shop at glassybaby again, I'll stick with the basic $40-$50 ones and when the recipient is someone who will use it until the day they die. I'm torn with my rating, because the products are lovely, and the staff are always nice, but the prices for a simple candle holder....I'm not so sure. It's probably more a 3.5. Parking can be rough, since downtown Bellevue has gotten busier with new apartments, condos, and the revamped park. read more

My bestie loves glassybaby! And she's the kind of person who would always rather spend money on others than herself, so I always like to get her one whenever I visit her in San Francisco. I came to glassybaby the day before my flight to San Francisco and was on mission to get a new glassybaby for her. Once I walked in there were two sales associates working that day and have to say one was much nicer than the other. The other gal had ignored me, as I was trying to make eye contact with her so I could get some help with the different votives. She was the first sales associate I had seen once I walked in and wasn't helping anyone, so thought she would be able to assist me with selecting a glassybaby. Instead, once the other sales associate was done with another customer, she immediately came over to where I was standing from the cash register, and asked if I needed any help. Yes! She made my unwelcoming first impression go away, as she was so helpful. I wish I remembered her name because she was such a friendly and sweet person, and truly went above and beyond to help me pick a votive for my bestie. When we were talking, she found out I was going on a flight the next day so she packaged the glassybaby in a secure box, so that I could put it in my luggage, without worrying if it would break. Plus, she made sure to mention about the ribbon with the packaging, of how it was collapsible, so that it would be presentable for my friend. Overall, my experience here for gift-shopping ended up being a positive one despite feeling a little left out at first. read more

Went into the store within a month but was informed I needed to return within two weeks. Seems such a simple request to change colors. Very disappointed with their exchange policy! I love this little store. It's almost like a small mini warehouse, but it's pretty neat. Very industrial.. The staff itself are typically very friendly. In fact, last night the lady didn't bug us or bother us at all. She just let us pick what we wanted and rang us up. Very friendly as well. There is always parking outside off main. The biggest problem with this store isn't even their fault. It's the snobby Bellevue mom's who are a pain in the ass when they're in there lining up 100 candles to find the correct tint. A friend gave one of these to me as a gift. I have many clients that put these all over their homes. They are just candle holders, what's the big deal? My friend said she thought the same thing but once she started buying them and lighting them up she became hooked. I got home, lit up the candle and waited for something exciting to happen. Nothing. I love this store and it is for such a great cause. Glassy baby's make such a unique and beautiful gift. Everyone is unique and they have just about every color under the rainbow, and then some! I have been wanting to get my own Glassy for quite some time and I finally came in to get one for myself and one for a gift. I got the "Wet Dog" which donates money to the Humane Society to honor my childhood dog who past away a year ago this month. I also got my best friend the "BFF" Glassy which goes to cancer research. Also the great thing too is if you are having an event like a wedding or corporate event, you can rent them! A friend recommended Glassybaby as a gift for another friend's birthday, so I stopped in to check it out. There's a handful of parking spaces in the lot right out front. The store has a warehouse feel, but something about it turned me off. It had a cold feel, even when candles were burning. Regardless, I found a nice votive for my friend (the Hudson) but hesitate to spend that much money on myself. Because these are handmade, it can take forever to find just the one you want - color variations, shapes, etc. - no two are the same! FYI: Gift wrap consists of a ribbon for an extra buck. read more

They have a large array of colors to choose from and I spend way too much time trying to decide which to get. These are great gifts esp for out of towners. Like others mention, proceeds to get donated which is always nice. They let you place a candle in colors you would like to see, which is super helpful for me because I can never tell how its going to look when lit up. I arrived at 545 and the store was closed with different hours posted (11-4). I know things are strange with COVID but this was just confusing as google was wrong too.
