Love See's candy. When I need a gift that is one of my favorite places to visit. Helpful sales associates. I recently bought some St. Patricks Day candy. I was offered a sample and the piece I chose was old and dried out. It was gross! This actually happened to me before. I think that if they offer a sample it should be fresh not old. read more

OK, I'm being generous giving them two stars cause I feel sorry for Warren Buffet. I don't want to hurt his business. No, actually I feel sorry for the employees who have to work there now. Somewhere along the way between some time before the pandemic and now they've sold their soul to the devil (of greed). They added coconut oil -- and who knows what else they've done that doesn't show up in their ingredient list -- to their chocolate (at least their dark chocolate products which is what I eat) and it's now horrible! I'm old and have been eating this stuff (for decades) and I'd wager the quality has been consistent for that time and longer. But then the money boys bought it and despite what the press says about See's being dear to WB's heart I think his banker's visor has gotten in the way of his necrotic heart. What a bunch of bovine excrement! (Sorry) It breaks my heart to waste food but I'm tossing the bulk of this pound since it just isn't worth eating and I have nobody I can think of that I would "inflict" this stuff on. The lady behind the counter was very rude and condescending to both customers as well as her coworkers. She's elderly, seemingly close to 80, and overall a sour character. She was very rude to her younger coworker when he asked for clarification on a product and instead of answering she gave him a sarcastic answer and was generally rude to him for no reason. The candies there are great but we left empty handed after that interaction. read more

When I buy from the 41st avenue store the candy is often stale. The Calif brittle should never be slightly chewy. The rum nougat should be soft, not dry. Since I'm a visitor to Berkeley I will buy there on College Ave when I can. The candy is always fresh and hasn't been in the store for so long it's losing its quality. I've said something to a manager at the 41st avenue store and she says it's "fine." There is a huge difference between See's that is fresh, and See's that has been around too long. I've been buying See's for 40 years... it was always a tradition in my family. This store has been my first experience of stale candy. I've been living near this store for the last 6 years and trying to just accept the situation. Sometimes I've asked when something was going to be delivered in the hope that I could get it fresh. But the manager says"it's all fresh" and won't even acknowledge that there might be a problem. I don't have a choice but to buy from other locations whenever I'm in the bay area. read more

I was craving See's butterscotch lollipops. I even drove over an hour to buy a box. They are that good!

This is a stand alone store so you show up assuming to purchase chocolate. The clerk gave me a look like I was seizing an opportunity to pilfer free chocolates. A tight fisted affair candy samples makes you less excited about your decision to make a special trip here to buy chocolates. Maybe next time I'll simply wait and grab while at the airport. read more

Very disappointed today when my husband and I purchased two one-pound boxes of candy and the clerk did not offer us a piece of candy. The lady in front of us was offered one, which she promptly started eating. What's up See's? Do you offer every other customer a piece of candy? read more

Was just in there with my baby and waited 45 min with one person ahead of me while one guy packed and rang up a lady with like 20 boxes, and the other employee did absolutely nothing. I asked if there was a reason she or anyone else could not be behind the counter and she replied "ya there is I had to wait in line yesterday it's the holidays and this is who is here." I said yes I am aware but you can't pack? And she said in a mocking voice "too bad you have to wait in line that just sucks doesn't it." Literally I couldn't make this up if I tried. Also when I finally ordered she made fun of the fact that I said "the regular raspberry not the truffle" and laughed at me, saying "haha omg regular". If I wasn't with my baby I would have gone off. read more
