I first came to know about this bakery when I lived in Silicon Valley. I moved over the hill over 2 years ago and was so excited to find this location in Capitola. The shop was clean and full of cute items just like the other stores. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because they have stopped offering samples. They claim it's because of COVID but it's 2023 now and salad bars and buffets are open again, so why no samples? I think they just want to save money. read more

Haven't been in there in awhile. Got a rude girl who helped me. They aren't taking there punch cards anymore. God forbid you give back to the customers who keep you open. It was my birthday. I wanted the Banana Bundt cake but od course they didn't have any. She said they sell fast. Asked for a chocolate chip. Noticed they had gluten free up on top.She grabbed mine from the bottom. I asked how long for the Banana she said 3 hours. You would think the would could more than they are. Went back in 2 hours and got one. It didn't feel warm. So so SO delicious. We ordered from here two weekends in a row (birthday cake for a private dinner followed by cupcakes for a party the next weekend) and both orders were impeccable. Online ordering was easy peasy, pickup was perfect, presentation was beautiful, and the TASTE!! We got compliments out the wazoo. Everything ranging from "this is the best cupcake I've ever eaten" to a knowing, "now *this* is what quality frosting tastes like..." Also lucky me, we somehow had leftovers and they kept in the fridge amazingly well. I'm on day 3 of cupcakes and they still taste delicious and fresh. 10/10 would recommend this place. Stopped by on June 4th at 4:30 pm with my sister to try a small cake but we were instead welcomed with the worst customer service. The employees attitude completely ruined our experience and we definitely don't feel welcomed to come back. We were still navigating the menu when we asked the employee a question and we were instantly greeted with a inpatient tone and a stare filled with judgement. I understand that everyone has their bad days but this employees attitude to us was completely biased and it was clear to see how her attitude shifted when the next customer came in. I don't want to believe this was racially motivated but there was an obvious difference in her service to us vs the next customer. I ordered cakes for my friends birthday a week ahead of time for a delivery between 11am-2pm. I called that day and left a message to check in on the status of my order. No one called me back. I called again after the delivery window twice and someone picked up. She said it was crazy and she didn't know or have any idea when my order would be delivered. When I asked if it was possible to pick it up and she said yes, however, when I asked her if it was in the shop she checked and it was not there, making that impossible to do. I called back again 2.5 hours later and had to call many times before the phone was picked up. I told the employee that picked up that I would like a refund because my order still hadn't been delivered. She asked my last name and told me that the delivery guy said he was right outside my house (this turned out to not be the case either as he was not at my house) Again I asked for a refund because it was already 4:30. I was placed on hold and then was asked for my name and number so a manger could call me back, which I provided, understanding that it most likely needed to be done by a manager. She asked again if I had received my order, and I had not reiterating no longer wanting it and wanting a refund. At 5pm the delivery driver essentially doorbell ditched the order on my doorstep, well after I contacted the store. I ran out and shouted (so he could hear me) that I was getting a refund and to please take them back, but he ignored me, got into his car, and drove away. I understand that there is a lot going on right now but it is the lack of communication and the poor customer service that I am unhappy with. It would have been appreciated if the store knew they were busy and 3 hours behind on deliveries, to have been contacted. If someone had reached out to me or even returned my first voicemail letting me know what was going on then this would have been a whole different situation and there would be a lot more understanding. The owner said he tried to call me but I didn't have missed calls or voicemails. Let him know I appreciated him trying to reach out and to try again. Still no calls. Followed up with another email a week later and still nothing. Extremely poor customer service from the employee that straight up lied about my order more than once, the delivery driver doorbell ditching the order and ignoring me, to the owners not attempting to make it right or even try to explain the lack of communication/lying. read more

We ordered a Princess Cake for my daughter's 2nd birthday. We went with the confetti (like funfetti) cake option. The brick and mortar location wasn't open yet when I emailed the owner. But, he responded quickly. He coordinated the order and although the store still wasn't open in time for the order; He ordered and picked up the cake from the Los Gatos location and we met him at the Capitola location while STILL in construction. Their hours are changed and closes at 530pm due to the shelter in place. It would be nice if they posted a sign because I saw some customers still walking up to the front door wondering why they were closed so early. They also didn't have as many flavors available, probably because minimal amount of customers, so only the standard dozen flavors. It's understandable in these conditions. It didn't matter too much since I love all their Bundt cakes. It doesn't store well in the fridge too long because after 2 days they were dry on the outside. Okay, I dont know if their frosters were never trained or what, but every. Single. Cake that I've seen from this place the frosting is an absolute MESS. The petals are all over the place, uneven, and it's just straight up messy. I worked at a Bundt cakes in Las Vegas and a cake that looks that awful never would have made it off of the table, let alone into someone's home to celebrate their birthday. I've been a loyal customer of Nothing Bundt cakes for several years. When they were in Carmel I would drive an hour just to get their cakes. However, everything changed today. I called ahead of time and placed my order for a cake and paid with my credit card. I told the girl on the phone that I will be at the store in 10 min, so if you could please have the cake ready that would be great. Since the pandemic I didn't want to be waiting in the store for my cake. I arrived at the store and no one was there. Few minutes later a girl comes out from the back. I told her I just had called and placed an order. She said " I will just get it from the back". I waited for 10 minutes. Wondering what was going on. If she was just getting it from the back what's the hold up? She came back out saying it needed to be iced. I said how much longer? She said a couple minutes. I waited...and waited...nothing. Fifteen minutes and said I have people waiting in my car. I ask how much longer, or I'm going to just cancel my order and get a refund. She said "Im just boxing it up right now". I said okay. A few minutes later she finally comes out with the cake. I told her it would have been nice to know it was going to take so long. I go out to my truck where my family has been waiting. The owner comes running out of the store to talk. He's not wearing a mask and is very close, and wants me to roll down the window. I would have been totally fine with talking with him in a normal day. But I tell him he's not wearing a mask and I will call him on the phone. I called him immediately after leaving. I told him the situation and what had happened and he was unapologetic.He proceeded to lay into me saying that I was the rudest customer ever and that during a time like now I should be more understanding of where he's coming from. Let me just say I was NOT rude!!! He said I tried to run him over in the parking lot. Really!!! He's totally crazy! I can't believe this even happened. I don't understand how a business owner can totally make stuff up. I told him that I will no longer be buying cakes from him and good bye. Now 30 minutes to Soquel. These cakes are so delicious that it's worth an hour round trip drive to get one. Ordering and pickup was easy. Later that night, I presented the cake in front of my family and guests and the message card was wrong. Instead of "82 looks good on you!" It said "28 looks good on you." That deflated my spirit. I Called the store the next day to let them know so it won't happen to someone else. I was told, "Sorry. YOU should check your message card before YOU leave the store." It was my first experience buying a whole cake there. I would think to improve customer service that THEY should check the message card with the customer before they leave the store. That way THEY can insure quality control and have satisfied customers. We were sad when they moved from Carmel, but have made the long drive even STILL all the way to Santa Cruz to get their cakes as we have been loyal followers. Usually we pre-order on the website. However, today we were pressed for time. We drove for over an hour up to the Santa Cruz store from Pacific Grove to get a birthday cake for my son's 16th. I picked out an orange flower, etc. for the top. Got home, made a great dinner, and went to get the cake out of the refrigerator, only to find out that they had not decorated it with the items from the store my husband and I had picked out. It came "blank" with a big gaping hole in the middle I had no way of filling with candles or anything else. Very very disappointing. Showed up Saturday to pick up and instead of a nice Bundt cake that cost us $40 we got a runt cake (my husband named it). Usually Bundt cakes are 4" tall and gorgeous. Ours was 2" tall and a runt. She said carrot cakes are dense and not tall. Every time we've ordered the mini cakes the carrot ones are just as tall as the others. What a rip off. More frosting than cake. It's been months and they've yet to refund us, I tried contacting their owner multiple times and never heard back. I called his cellphone that I was provided and never had any luck. Called multiple times to the store and he was never there, the sales rep always took a message down, but I never heard back from the owner who apparently is the only one allowed to refund money which makes no sense as he is never there?
