This review is for Carne, the new location in Live Oak. We went for the soft opening and holee molee it was sooooooo sooo good. There was a long line of happy people patiently waiting to order hot food at the counter. The butcher shop has a different line and register. The Brisket was insane, fatty, tender, perfect. The meaty ribs OMG so so tasty and tender. The hot link was hot and well cooked, but not really my thing. I didn't really care for the bbq sauce, but who cares bc the meat was flawless and needed nothing at all. The beans were a little hard, I've no doubt that is a one off, bc they were hustling so hard. The service is kind and attentive. Lots of enthusiastic diners tucking into generous piles of food, a happy sight. read more

The meat here was both expensive and poor quality, and unfortunately it made my family ill. I really dislike writing this because I prefer to support local businesses, but I feel it's important to share. The staff/owners also came across as unapproachable, with a heavy "bro" vibe that made the experience uncomfortable. Given this, I would recommend alternatives like Soquel Quality Meats, New Leaf, Whole Foods, or one of the many excellent carnicerías in the area. I understand they may be planning to open a kitchen soon, but based on our experience with both the product and the atmosphere, I would suggest skipping that as well. The good: the dry aged rib roast and a few other items look to be amazing!! The bad: there were three guys working when I went to pick up my order, an older guy that appeared to be the owner or manager and two young bucks. I basically tried to make pleasant small talk, and discuss a cooking method...and they acted as if I were sh@t on their shoes; especially the older guy. Rude, short with me, and had zero interest in acknowledging me. I'm not looking to be held and cuddled when purchasing meat...but when spending $400 on a few expensive items, I at least expect to be treated cordially. What they don't know about me, and failed to ask is...I am a personal chef with many wealthy clients and would/could/should be a regular customer here! But with the attitudes that I was served up yesterday, I will be seeking out a different butcher for my meaty needs. Life is too short and too $$$ to be treated like dirt. read more

My go to for special meals and advice. My fav is the marinated hanger, can't get hanger in most stores. For holidays, I've had incredible Prime Rib Roasts, Tenderloin Roast (for Wellington), and Brisket Roast. What has happened to my favorite butcher? Two times in row a bitter man behind the counter has been hating his life and taking it out on me. He was offended when I pointed out a customer in front of me! He wouldn't cut a new porterhouse and wanted to know if I "was sure" I took what he offered which was smaller than I had asked! He then seemed affronted that my Apple Card was metal. Management needs to tell staff to remove broomsticks from their rectums before work! You are an embarrassment to union butchers! read more

Meat selection was pretty good and the pricing as well. But the customer service lacks. Went in with my husband and felt like the guy working at the time just wanted to move on from helping us to some other stuff he was doing. And gave us less of what we asked for with some of the meats. read more

We travel over a half an hour on a weekly basis to buy our meat, poultry, and seafood from Point Butcher, and have been doing so since they opened their doors. We typically get the pork chops, hamburger patties, chicken breasts, chicken skewers, salmon, and meatloaf (when available). Regarding the patties, they have a variety available, called Points, Uglies, Westerns, and Blue. Don't ask which is our favorite. It's too hard to pick one. These guys are amazing! I wanted some dry aged ribeye steaks for my son's birthday. Called them up and they said we can have those for you in a few days and I called back the day before they were supposed to be ready and they said sure no problem. I've been shopping here for nearly two years, since not long after they opened. I drive an extra half hour to get to Point Butcher Shop, one of the reasons being an attitude problem at the west side butcher shop that's a lot closer. Good selection of meat and seafood, including house-made sausages and marinated meats. Sometimes there's duck. Most is in large display cases, but there's also a lot in refrigerator and freezer. Customer service is very good, especially when the owner is there. They're very accommodating of my requests for custom butchering for recipes, like very thin sliced pork for a Korean dish. read more

Tim cut me a Porterhouse to order (double cut) ... the best Porterhouse I have ever had. You could literally cut the Filet side with a fork. (done on charcoal fired Weber) My Son and I split the steak, and he could not stop heaping the praise on it. I live in Los Gatos and Los Gatos Meats does a great job (I like their selection of wild game). But Point Butcher Shop is getting my business these days. Great selection of fresh meat and fish! These guys made sure we got fresh fish for making homemade ceviche and they nailed it! If we had more time I would try the seasoned tri-tip or number of sausages they make. Plus they had a good selection of local beer! read more

I shop here every week. I love the steaks. I usually get the ribeyes, but the helpful staff has turned me onto the aged ribeyes. I know they are a little more expensive, but they are worth the extra price for special occasions. I also love their fish and chicken selections. Everything here is of the best quality and you can really taste the difference from what you buy at a grocery store. Meat and chicken actually have flavor that you can taste! Other than salt and pepper, their meats do not need seasonings and add ons to taste great. I also love the fact that I can special order meat. We order Sweet Breads, which are hard to find. Tim always comes through and the quality of the Sweet breads is top notch. They are tender and flavorful, unlike some of the Sweet Breads we have purchased from speciality meat stores in San Jose. No matter where you live, it is worth the drive to go to the Point Butcher shop for your meats. read more

Picked a couple of killer looking filet mignon today. Treated it with some crushed fresh rosemary, Kona salt and cracked pepper. Gave it a hot sear on both sides then finished in a 400°oven. 15 minute rest. Possibly the best filet I've ever had. Tim and the crew consistently provide the best beef, chicken, pork, seafood and sausage in the county. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

Impeccable. Great service and quality cuts of meat. Bloody Mary steak was yummy and the garlic chicken marinade was a bit too salty to eat on its own but tasted good mixed into salads or for tacos. read more
