Megan, she made the inspired recipe & maybe it has that touch of love that makes all the ingredients a well balanced hum! When I popped into Patrick's Deli in Edina today and ordered their Roseberry Shakerato -- it was waiting for me (& you?) ... something special I didn't know I needed but it stood out. How can I not order a decaf Roseberry Shakerato? Made with decaf espresso, this beautiful shaken drink arrived in a tall glass with perfect layers and a luxurious foam (the photo really doesn't lie!). The star is that dreamy swirl of pink rose-and-raspberry whipped topping on top. It's creamy, fragrant, and -- most importantly -- genuinely not too sweet. The rose and berry accents are elegant and balanced, finished with rose petals and a touch of pink crumble petals for texture. Every sip felt like a little celebration: floral, jazzy, uplifting, and just plain joyful. This is sophisticated, refreshing, and fun all at once. Whether you're doing decaf like me or going full caffeine, Patrick's Deli has created something special here. I'll absolutely be back. If you're anywhere nearby, treat yourself. This drink is main-character felicity in a glass.

Lindt chocolates and truffles are REALLY GOOD. I'd say they're between Godiva and See's. I don't…read moreoften treat myself to them because they can be a bit pricey, but honestly if you come here and use their bulk deals to mix n match a bunch of flavors, it's much more affordable (then you only need to use self-restraint at home and have a chocolate or two a day). Or if you aren't picky about flavors, they do have a clearance section that's usually up to 50% off. The employees here are always kind to me when I stop in. Nine times in ten they'll offer you a sample truffle, so if I'm at MoA, I'll admit I usually swing by just to get a free one... LOL. But I also like looking at their seasonal offerings-- you know, all the fun holidays like Christmas and Halloween and Easter and such-- because Lindt does a good job of creating cute tins or boxes for the chocolates to make them extra special (fancy chocolate is already special enough but put it in a cute ornament and that's over-the-top cute!). Yesterday I saw they had an advent calendar that you could choose to fill with whichever truffles you wanted for each day's reveal! Such a clever concept! The shop isn't large but doesn't need to be. There's deep wells of all the flavors in their vibrant colored foil wrappings to browse and drool over. And the smell is amazing.

Even when it's packed, service is quick, efficient, and genuinely friendly, which is impressive given the crowds. They have an incredible selection with lots of rotating flavors, so there's always something new to try. Their croissants and Kouign Amann are absolute standouts. Flaky, buttery, and perfectly executed. The lattes are also delicious and pair perfectly with the pastries. They offer pre packed goodies as well, which are great for grab and go treats or bringing something home. The space itself is bright and welcoming with large windows and natural light, multiple seating options, and a small outdoor seating area when the weather is nice. If you love high quality pastries, Black Walnut is a must. Worth the wait and worth the early alarm.

The space is about the same and they packed a bunch of tables inside so it is kind of stuffy but that's MN winter life. We got the raspberry passionfruit kouign amann, raspberry cardamom frangipane bostock, almond croissant, banana chocolate croissant and the bear claw. Also ordered a cappuccino, latte, cortado and black coffee to drink. Drinks came out pretty fast and were decent but nothing to write home about. The pastries were delish. The croissants were super hefty in size and very filled which was nice and definitely worth the price. My kouign amann in comparison was really small and at almost the same price I would say was a kinda overpriced. But they texture was light and crunchy and I really enjoyed the jam inside. Bostock was dense in a good way with a layer of jam and then frangipane. You could really taste the cardamom too. Bear claw was croissant that they filled with almond, raspberry and cream cheese. Flavors were also good in that.

Truthfully, I was on the hunt for a bathroom, but was more than willing to grab a sweet treat while we were there. I had already peeked at what people were enjoying out on the patio, and on such a perfect spring day, it was hard to pass up. We ended up trying a few macarons. They were beautifully displayed and there were so many flavors to choose from. We had a family dinner later that day, so they felt like a great option to bring along. We stopped in closer to 1pm so I'm guessing the selection of donuts and cakes was a bit picked over compared to the morning hours. That said, they still have a good variety and I would definitely go back earlier in the day to try one of those donuts! We had a few questions about how the macarons would hold up in a warmer car, and the employee helping us was happy to answer everything. It seemed like the owner was there as well and heading out for the day. She was very kind, especially to let us use the bathroom. One quick note, Google shows Amy's Cupcake Shoppe as permanently closed, so they may want to look into updating that. Overall, a really great stop and one I'm glad I stumbled into - those usually are the best!
