Great location and nice staff. Actually I went shopping right before Christmas and luckily it wasn't crazy busy. There were 3 people working and the line moved along quickly. Knowing what I wanted helped too. The guy in front of me jumped in front of another guy not paying attention. Nothing happened but I did let the guy know what he did as he started his order. He apologized to the first guy. Everyone kind of just laughed about it. I was up next, bought my 3 boxes of chocolates and started to pay then asked the guy if I was going to get a sample or what? The customer before me got like 4 samples, I only got one. oh well read more

Most of the time the place is too warm for the chocolate. Especially during the holidays when they leave it out in the open (I've never seen such laziness in any other store). The exposed chocolate is compromised and the integrity diminishes. The last time My mom went in there she asked for 8oz. I nearly laughed when she told me he said he couldn't do ounces and that the scale only did weight by pounds. FYI, 8oz is a half a pound. read more

I want to start by saying I love See's candy amd it's a treat I don't come get often enough. I just left and was disappointed with the blonde woman who helped me. When I walked in she seemed like she was doing some sort of inventory which was not the issue I understand associates must multitask but what ruined my shopping was her complaining about how they had to much stock, she just seemed so annoyed and in a bad mood. Once she finally helped me she was in a rush and every time I paused to look she would say in her rushed and annoyed voice "anything else!". It upsets me when associates are not happy with their work and that energy is felt by us the customer's. I still will continue to eat my See's candies but hopefully they will have a more pleasant face next time. read more

My husband and I go here about once or twice a month, I would be giving it 5 stars but I wanted to just leave it at 4 due to the long wait times sometimes when you go there. First I'd like to say that See's chocolates has always been a favorite gift to give for major holidays (Valentine's, Easter, Mother's Day, etc.)!!! I don't know many people who'd disagree tbh.... Sadly, though, I'm posting this review with reduced stars due to my most recent purchase for Valentine's Day 2021. As usual, I purchased several pre-packaged boxes, such as Nuts and Chews, Truffles, etc. And of course, those were not a disappointment to anyone who received the gift. When purchasing these boxes, I also purchased a specially ordered pick of chocolates, which happened to be the most expensive box that I bought. When it was opened by the recipient, we both discovered at the same time that 50% of the box was not what I had asked for, nor was the wrong 50% liked by the recipient. All in all, I guess this is a fair warning that if you order a specialty pick of chocolates for a special someone in your life, make sure to ask to look at the chocolates in the box before it's wrapped. Every time I go in here they always provide great customer service! I requested the Gift of Elegance (4 lb) box. I did not want dark chocolate, so the employee had a great idea of creating my own box. She took her time to make sure it looked presentable, as it was a gift for a family member. The gift looked amazing and of course the receiver was happy! Each holiday they have great gifts based on the celebration. it does get busy the week of the holiday, so it is always best to go in ahead of time. I like how convenient the store is too. I remember the extra special treat of See's candies as a child when I would visit my grandmother, she seemingly had an endless supply back then. We had lots of family that lived out of state, and often sent it as gifts during the holidays as See's wasn't readily available in all states in the pre-internet days. It was always a hit. One year we sent something else as gifts, and promptly received several phone calls asking where the See's candies were. See's candies is kind of nostalgic to me, especially during the holidays. Although times have changed, sometimes I still like to send it as a gift. This location is the See's candies store of choice for me, conveniently located in McHenry Village. The staff has always been very pleasant and exceptionally friendly, I really like the feel of the place and often leave with a smile on my face. read more

Went with my bf. The blonde lady gave us weird looks, was rushing us and was super rude. We didn't feel welcomed at all. One of the biggest mistakes I could have made was working across the street from a See's Candy Shop. I keep my happy habit by stopping by at least once a week on my break to get a 'couple' (wink wink) pieces in a bag and a few See's suckers for my desk. The Ladies in white and black are just about as sweet as the candy. Dixie is my favorite clerk, always welcoming and friendly. Came for Free Lollypop day with my 3 year old. Since Mommy has been craving root beer floats with baby #2, what does Mommy see as she walks up to the store. ROOT BEER LOLLYPOPS!!! OMG! So of course I get a box and I spot my daughters favorite Peppermint twist candies that melt in your mouth. When we went to check out we got our free lollypops, and 4 samples and the mini lollypops. The customer service here is awful, I was in line today waiting to ask for a sample of a chocolate I wanted to try and the blonde lady came up to me and put a sample on the counter for me and I tried to ask if I could sample a different one instead (the one I wanted to try) but before I could even finish my sentence she cut me off and said "you need to wait your turn" very rudely.
