I am a huge fan of chocolate (what fenale isn't haha) and I have sampled my fair share across the country and settled on Sees as my favorite type of truffle type chocolate. I love their variety and that you have the option to build your own box by weight. The people at this particular location have always been immensely kind to be, and the free samples aren't exactly something to complain about either. Its always worth the trip when im in the area and have a chocolate craving, or want to get my special someone a treat for a special occasion there is truly something for everyone here. read more

My daughter and I just got home from picking up candly for all the mothers in our family. Erin helped us and she was just amazing! She wrapped everything for us and never complained about being so busy. We called ahead...but when we arrived she was overwhelmed with customers. What a sweet girl! We had such a pleasant experience. "It's the most wonderful time of year..." Yes, 'tis the season of See's chocolate Easter eggs. My favorite Easter treat undoubtedly is the Divinity Egg. I must confess that I am quite the piggy when it comes to these eggs. I LOVE them! I remember they used to make a much larger size of these Easter treats, but unfortunately they only have the $2.50 size now. I've even sent e-mails to See's begging them to bring back the larger sizes, complete with festive sugar flower embellishment. Alas, no avail. :( Despite my sadness about the lack of large size Divinity eggs, I enjoy visiting this See's location. Every person I've encountered who works here has been extremely friendly and helpful. Plus, how can you not like someone who gives you free chocolate? ;) read more

See's Candy is one of those stores that will forever remain close to my heart. When I was smaller I thought these ladies were nurses due to their antiquated uniforms and nurturing personas. As I got older and even to this day, I look at them the same way because they really do care for their customers by providing them with excellent service and comforting treats. Even though I love this place, they can be an enemy of mine, everything is so damn good that I want to buy it all, they never let me just look, they know what they are doing by offering me free candy as I approach them, they trap me like they are a man in a van. They really messed me up when I came here last, they left a tray of sweets on the counter and told me, yes me, a former 300+ LB fat kid to help myself to whatever treats I would like. That was a mistake, by the time my wife had gotten out of line with her coffee lollipops and almond clusters, I had already devoured close to 8 tantalizing treats and got nervous, so I took the best course of action I could think of and blamed the kid next to me and cut out. Damn, I rambled on, oh well, just come here and buy one of every treat, yes it will get pricey, yes you will get fat, but it will be happy dose of diabetes and you can always walk off the calories in the mall or buy bigger pants at any shop, you won't be disappointed. read more

They not only offer you samples while you shop but they also give great suggestions. First of all, they give you a free sample & if you aren't interested in what they are offering (for example, I'm not big on chocolate-covered cherries), they'll give you a different one. Secondly, there is little that is more exciting than getting a hand-picked box of chocolates. If you know what type of chocolates your friend likes, you can fill it with only those or pick YOUR favorites to share with someone (my friend / coworker still raves about how I gave her a nut-free assortment 5 Christmases ago). A half-pound box is $7 or $8, which is a reasonable price for a gift (especially for coworkers around Christmas) + they wrap it! Take the extra couple of minutes to hand-pack your treats & your recipient will feel pampered. Suggestions: peanut butter patties (chocolate + peanut butter = win!), cafe au lait truffles & bordeaux; also, their peanut brittle bars (prepackaged) are yummy read more

Now this is one of my favorite places to stop when in the mood for some chocolate. Which is quite often. They have the best selection of dark chocolate. Prices are good. Staff is polite, friendly and helpful. On busy days such as holidays like Easter and Christmas they will have 3 registers going to serve the customers as quickly as possible. If I could give this a negative rating, I would. I was given a box of chocolates for Christmas. I have dietary restrictions that prevent me from consuming candy, and when I went to the store to exchange it, I was told I had to have the original receipt or else I could only exchange it for other candies. That's exactly what I didn't want- candy!!! I would even be ok with peanuts, mixed nuts, or cashews, or a gift card- just give me something I can use. I'm fuming. Seriously, you expect me to ask the person that gave me the gift for the receipt?! That's horrible!!! I give them a negative two star rating. Terrible service, terrible policy, and they also use artificial ingredients in their products to top it off. read more

You would think that visiting a candy shop would be nothing but a fantastic experience. Not today!! I had gone to See's Candies to find something special for my grandchildren. I had picked out chocolates in the store and set on counter to pay. The cashier that was running the register at the time - told me that she would be right back. There was nothing further from the truth. I looked through the backroom door and she was back there talking with another employee. When she came back - which seemed like forever but was at least 5 perhaps 10 minutes she told me that she was back there complaining about her schedule. REALLY?? I was dumbfounded, but told her that I would think that customers would be a tad more important then her schedule, not to mention her co-worker had at least 10 persons in line wanting to purchase candies by the each. The oddest thing was she insisted on getting me her managers phone number and name. Crazy experience. I think if I need See's Candies I might be better served in going to the McHenry store. read more
