I'd visited other acupuncturists in the past, but not for a specific problem. My earlier visits…read morewere for general wellness or stress relief. While effective, I never quite fit acupuncture into my regular schedule. This time was different. Some months back, I suffered a tendon injury that seemed impossibly stubborn to heal. It was highly frustrating and painful to be sidelined for several weeks from my normal activities, with little noticeable progress healing and, as a bonus, a handful of secondary problems piling up from disuse. On a recommendation from a friend, I visited Lucky Tiger. I was very impressed with Dr. Ciara's diagnostic skills as she quickly pinpointed the afflicted area and went to work with a regimen of acupuncture and moxibustion to stimulate the injured tendon and improve natural healing. By the end of the first session, my injury had made its first significant improvement. That progress made me a regular patient. Over the next few visits the injury healed up and the secondary issues began to clear as well. Now that I've regained my higher level of activity, I finally feel like my old self.

I had a bad experience with Dr. Hu on billing. She is in network with my insurance company and my…read moreinsurance told me that I have a $15 copay for 10 sessions covered each year in my current insurance. When I met with Dr. Hu, she told me to file a insurance claim myself and asked me to pay $415 out of pocket. I did with my credit card. While I was trying to file a claim myself, I was told by my insurance that my claim will be denied because she is in network with my insurance company and the only two options are: 1. Dr. Hu leaves my insurance company and becomes out of network so I can file a claim myself. 2. Dr. Hu files a claim for me. My insurance company also suggested me to call my credit card company and put the transaction on hold till we sort things out. While I contacted her and told her that, she got mad at me and yelled at me over the phone that I can't do this to her. She also said if she files through the insurance, she is doing me a favor. I told her that I don't mind filing on behalf of myself, but she needs to leave the network and she said she has lots of patients and can't leave the network. That leaves me no option. I feel very unset that she could have considered her patients more and work with me to find a solution rather than being condescending and only think herself.

What I wasn't told was that the office is really an old apartment on Rosecrans that was converted to small offices (a hair salon for one) but still feels like an apartment. The first thing you need to know is that there is no parking. You will have to park on the other side of Rosecrans on some side street. I ended up parking in the small strip mall next door only because all the stores were vacant except the medical marijuana "office". The first thing I noticed walking in was how tiny the place was and the overwhleming smell of incense. The incense didn't bother me but it could bother other people. My "consultation" wasn't really in an office but a small room where the receptionist/asst's desk is with a small table, chair and some supplies. Dr. Hu was very nice and seemed to be knowledgeable but then again, I know nothing about accupuncture. She seemed to take an interest in my well being and asked a lot of questions. Then she took me to another room which looked more like a typical massage treatment room. I laid facedown on the massage table and she put the needles in me. Relatively painless - imagine small pinches - and probably more relaxing for others than it was for me. I would have probably been able to relax and enjoy the incense and music more if it wasn't for the sound of construction next door and the egg timer next to the table to signal when the doctor should come back in. At the end, the doctor gave me a short shoulder massage after taking the needles out. The receptionist/asst was nice except when she came into the room when I had needles in me and was supposed to be "relaxing" to ask me for my insurance info. I mean, really?!?! This couldn't wait the 15-20 minutes until after the session. Were they afraid that I'd run off with needles on my back?! I found this very unprofessional. She was apologetic and claimed Dr. Hu insisted on her getting my insurance info right then and there. Bottom line - the treatment itself was fine, maybe good, but the experience was not what I was hoping for.

I arrived at the studio and before the session, she made some cacao for me to sip on as I tried to relax and set intentions for the session. After drinking the cacao, I laid down, Krizia made sure I was comfortable and the session began. The combination of her guided meditation and the sound bath aided in clearing and calming my mind. During the session, I was able to release some bottled up emotions that I didn't even know I had. This was my fourth reiki session with krizia and each time it just gets better and better for me. Immediately after the session, I felt so many (good) things. It's hard to explain and describe the feeling, but I felt inner peace, energized but calm, positive and balanced.
