They cancelled my exam (that I registered for 5 months ago) 1 day prior to the exam, and did it on a Sunday. This gave me no ability to reschedule my exam, and I am now unable to take it until the next cycle 4 months from now. Horrible experience.

I decided to write a really detailed review because other people need to know the truth about this…read moreschool so they can make an informed decision. I attended the massage therapy program at ICOHS College, and I'm extremely disappointed with the entire experience. If I had known what it would really be like, I would've chosen a different school. ICOHS is one of the most expensive massage programs in San Diego -- over $15,000, which is about $5,000 more than other local schools. When I asked why it costs so much more, I was told it's because they provide a massage table, a laptop, books, and supplies. But none of that adds up. The massage table was a super basic $165 table from Amazon (narrower and cheaper than the ones we practiced on in class), the laptop was around $155, and the books were only digital copies -- no hardbacks. They also gave us a silicone cupping set, some cheap oil and lotion, and thin sheets -- maybe $60-$70 worth of materials total. No bolster, no massage chair. All together, everything they gave us was under $1,000. So where is the extra $4,000 going? The main reason I chose ICOHS was the three-day-a-week schedule, which worked with my job. But halfway through the program, they added a required fourth day. That completely threw off the schedule I had planned for -- and the worst part? The extra days were totally disorganized. Most of the time, there was no real lesson or structure. We just sat there while teachers tried to figure out what to do with us. Some teachers were amazing, but others... not so much. One in particular, literally fell asleep in class -- not once, but multiple times. He also spent more time talking about his personal life than teaching. And overall, there just wasn't enough hands-on practice for an eight-month program. Way too many hours were wasted when they could've been used to actually make us better therapists. What really frustrated me the most, though, is that they pass everyone. Even students who couldn't name major muscle groups or pass basic tests were still given certificates. That's not just frustrating -- it's concerning. These are people who will be working on clients' bodies in a professional setting, and some weren't ready for that responsibility. I was genuinely excited to start massage school, but by the end, I just wanted to get out. Now I'm stuck paying off a very expensive education that didn't live up to its promise. Honestly, I'm embarrassed to say I went to ICOHS, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Please do your research and look into other schools in San Diego -- there are better options out there.

He is also greatly in tune with energy and how the body and energy field work together. As an energy healer, that's really important to me. As I said to James, he is an integral piece of my healthcare. I can't go too long without a session from him. I've been seeing Joy for massages since 2013 and she's honestly the best masseuse I've ever had…read more She's extremely knowledgeable, is well certified in her career, and constantly excels to educate her on the latest and greatest massage techniques. During our sessions, she works hard on my tight knots and knows exactly my problem areas to focus on. Being a person who had pretty severe lower back pain from school/work, she nursed me back to health and gave me tips on how to stretch and work on my back at home. I ended up getting a foam roller too, and she gave me great tips to stretch on it. Making appointments: Just go online and check her calendar to find a time that works best with your schedule. You enter your email address and your number, and her system will automatically send you email reminders. Facilities: 3rd floor of an office building - there's a little water river/stream in the middle of the building, behind it there's an elevator. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor and make a right. Her room (suite 321) is right next to a CPA office. During your massage, she'll play soothing music and recommend various lotions for aromatherapy. I particularly like chamomile and mint scented ones, it makes it particularly relaxing. Massage: THE BEST, EVER. Period. I've seen a great deal of masseuses in my lifetime. I used to be part of Massage Envy and I would cycle between different people each time I went to the point where I had a track record for never having a set person. That all changed when I met Joy, she's the only person I trust for a massage. I deeply miss her now that I'm in Seattle, I don't know where I can find as good as a massage ever again. I do frequently come back to San Diego to visit, and whenever I do, I always book an appointment with her again! Overall: LOVE HER, she's the best, hands down. You won't find anyone greater and she's the most sincere, honest, and patient person I know. You'll see what I mean when you meet her!

The room is small, but adequate for the massage. Joy made me comfortable and during my massage I fell asleep. I normally get firm, Thai or deep tissue massage, but it's nice to have a therapeutic once in a while. The only minor issue I had was that I was able to hear people in the hallway since it's a shared business location. The hour went by pretty quick and at the end Joy provided some helpful hints about how to relieve some of the stress and tension in my neck and back. Nice relaxing massage!
