Life Changing!!…read more First, let me just say I was getting so pissed reading through some of the bad reviews because I have now done (2) 3 month rounds of therapy here and all those complaints are just nonexistent now. I just laughed when I saw they were 5 and 10 yr old years old. They really should, at some point, be expired and taken down. Those old reviews have absolutely no bearing on how the place is run and staffed today. I started my first round of therapy at Pacific Coast in May of 2022. I HATED it, but had to wear a mask per PC rules, while in the facility, and they ABSOLUTELY spray and wipe down everything after patient contact and STILL DO. The mask, per state regulation is optional now, per the patients comfortability. After any kind of major surgery you are hurting. It is a no brainer that your recovery is gonna hurt too. Sitting down to pee hurts so I'm not sure what the previous clients were expecting. I've cried lots of times doing physical therapy. I WANT to push myself to get my full range of motion back. Your body just went through a very a traumatic experience with your surgery. Like you babies, it just wants to curl up and go to sleep, and wake up feeling better. So here's a Wake Up! It doesn't work that way! How old were these reviewers? I my past I have been sent to some pretty nasty boot camp therapy facilities and this ain't them. I have to say I was less than thrilled that my knee surgeon was so adamant about me using Pacific Coast for my p.t. post surgery because I live in Capitola, and at that time my handicap accessible van was costing me $150 to fill its tank. Not to mention dealing with the traffic. I also have back issues with surgeries overlapping or postponing my knee surgeries. My pain was constant and coming from everywhere. The LAST thing I wanted to do was get up, clean up, and make that 30 minute trek into Watsonville. I was so terrified the first time around, they may have indulged me a bit more with extended ice packs and massages. No matter what level of pain I was crying about or where it was coming from, they would convince me to come in anyway. I can tell you I ALWAYS left them either feeling better about myself or just feeling better in my recovery. There is such a good positive energy in that place. The therapists are young, excited to learn and work and really weirdly happy. The front desk has always treated me with respect and kindness and let me tell you, I am not an easy client. With my boo boos slowing me down already and just always running late in general because of my other handicaps, if I wasn't late I would be squealing in there bordering late, while all the good clients sat calmly, and clearly early, waiting patiently for their appointments. I've never seen anyone treated rudely. There may be times that I came in cranky, but it never lasts. It is just the epitome of the way Stephen Bruce runs that place and it just rubs off on everyone. They are empathetic if your pain without being condescending. They are serious in their work without being bored insensitive jerks (ok I too have had some bad past experiences), and if I ask one of the newer or younger therapists a question and he or she is unsure of the answer they immediately go seek Stephen out to be able to come back with the current information. It blows me away, especially in my medical world if I get the standard "I don't know," and then leaves you still in question. Here you get, "I'll go find out,". I could go on and on, and I will probably, when I finish my therapy for my right total knee replacement. So I will just close with this...this place is WORTH the drive, the time, and the effort. You will Never leave this facility feeling worse than when you came in and I PROMISE you, this id not a physical therapy assignment you have to drag yourself to. It's the highlight of my week. It lifts you physically, mentally, and a bit spiritually as well. I'm already feeling sad that I only have 3 more sessions before I get to "Ring the Bell!" I was referred to Adriana by a local sports medical orthopedic MD who told me that he had referred patients to her for years with great results. I felt very comfortable with Adriana helping me to do things I did not think I could do without pain. She never pushed me so that I was in pain. I really looked forward to seeing her each week. I approach the office girl twice, told her I really had to go. Second time I told her I was going to pee myself. She kept telling me they are taking me back right now. 30 minutes later I had to run to the restroom and didn't make it. I now have nothing to leave as a sample and the bathroom is dirty. She rolled her eyes at me and then in my chart said I REFUSED the test. Lack of communication, professionalism, and compassion.

I looked at available options in South Santa Cruz County, which would accept Medicare and provide physical and occupational therapy. Manresa Healthcare stood out to me initially because of it's smaller size, as it is easy for someone as nonverbal as she to get lost in a large institution., as it is easy for someone as nonverbal as she to get lost in a large institution. I was somewhat concerned when I saw that a year previously it had transitioned from local ownership to a larger company. However, when I toured the facility, I made a point of asking multiple non-management employees who had been there before and after the transition what impact the sale of the facility had had on their workplace. The answers were consistently positive. I am bringing her home today after four weeks at the facility, and I have zero regrets about my decision to place her there. I was particularly impressed by the accessibility of senior management. The same was true of the dietitian, who met with me within a day of her admission to ask about my wife's food preferences. When my wife lost a few pounds in her first week there the dietitian met with me again to figure out what we could change to reverse that, which was successful. When she entered the facility, my wife was really unable to stand or use her walker due to the combination of her cognitive impairment, and the rapid loss of strength in the hospital. Additionally, I have learned some new techniques that will help to keep both her and my back safe in the home. Communication with the director of therapy was constant and excellent Finally, I cannot say enough about the CNA's responsible for much of the daily contact with her. They were uniformly helpful and cheerful, and if the one assigned to her on a given day was busy one of the others was always willing to pitch in and help with whatever was needed. I cannot count the times that I was asked what else they could do for us. Of course, any elderly or impaired patient does better when they have someone in the family advocating for them, and I did that. However, in a facility with less accessible administration, I doubt that that would've had nearly the same impact..
