You can tell the owner put a great amount of effort into making the place look glamorous. The esthetician/owner, Sheralyn did my lashes. She knew it was my first time and made me feel as comfortable as possible. Sheralyn did a fantastic job. She was very professional, kind and passionate about her work. She was also very knowledgeable about any questions or concerns I had about the lashes. I had asked for a natural look with a bit more volume and length then I already had and she delivered. I've been thinking about getting eyelashes for awhile now and decided to finally get them. I looked up places near me and Selfish had the best reviews so decided to go there. I was very nervous... and from the very beginning, Shy made me extremely comfortable and confident about my decision. So, i was hanging out with a friend who's eyelashes looked amazing and discovered her secret was eyelash extensions. She's not from around here, so Yelp to the rescue to research reputable places for this type service near Royal Oak. I mean, after all, if someone is going to working close to your eye area, you want to make sure they know what they are doing! I found Selfish and made an appointment request through Yelp. I received a Mixed-set of Eyelash Extensions from selfish, and recently went back for my first fill. I had never had lash extensions prior to my visit but Shy answered all my questions and worked with me ahead of time to make sure they would be a good fit for me and get the most bang for the buck. Her hours are normally until 7 during the week, but she offered for me I could come in at 7 to accommodate my busy work schedule. She is incredibly friendly, provides great advise for care, pleasant conversation during services, and really goes above and beyond for customer service. I would like to start this review by saying I am extremely picky and have extremely high standards. I am known for being a perfectionist. I tried this place because Ive been everywhere downriver and it was never amazing. Selfish was great! The owner was very meticulous, she used high quality lashes and she was not only nice but extremely knowledgeable. She provides such detail in method of placing the lashes, explains what to expect, and teaches you basic care of your lashes. Selfish is the best place I've ever gone too for my eyelashes and eyebrows. I'm picky on how they look. As for my eyelashes the classics is what I went for the first time I went there. The whole experience from my first time was very welcoming and promising. She was very precise with her work. Not only was I amazed how my eyelashes look but the fact it look so natual. I received my first set of classic lashes, I have never worn lashes before and wanted to try them out. Now I am addicted ( I am in love), I love my lashes. I went recently for my first fill, and I am hooked! Shy can't get rid of my now lol. After months of wanting lash extensions, I looked at nearly every salon in the metro Detroit area, comparing quality and price. Selfish is a spotless and ultra cute salon. Shy is incredibly talented and competitively priced, often times running specials on full sets. Lash applications might take a while to apply (roughly an hour and a half), so schedule accordingly, but in the end it's worth it. If you're looking for high quality service, this is absolutely the place to come. The studio is immaculate and very well maintained. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. She is very knowledgeable and works gently. I have already received a couple compliments and its only the first day! My eyelashes are still natural in appearance. After moving to Royal Oak a couple weeks ago, I found myself in desperate need of an eyebrow wax with my usual place too far away. I stumbled upon Selfish and I am so glad that I did. I had a pretty bad experience with lash extensions in the past. More than 50% of them had already fallen off in less than a week, and I thought the problem was me. I got them done with shy and she did such an amazing job in short time too! I've had them for almost a week now and only had 2 small ones fall off (I think that's normal...).
