When my family first moved into the community we were amazed at how hard they worked. These men would run the blocks treating trash pick up like a workout. They were efficient and speedy. It's was impressive to watch. My 2 year old son, Maverick, recently became a fan of the Netflix show "Trash Truck" and started to watch when our own Bates trash truck come to our house. He grew in awe of our trash truck and the three men who ran it. What started as an interest of trash truck turned into love and became his favorite activity to look forward to. Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday we wait by our living room windows until he hear trash truck turning the corner. We run outside to wave and ask trash truck to "honk honk" just like trash truck on tv. As a mom this has become one of my favorite parts of the day. Seeing my son get so excited as trash truck comes to our house is truly special. His eyes light up, he stares in awe, and no matter what was happening the minute before, he turns into the happiest little boy. The workers of our local trash truck are some of the hardest working men I've ever seen. Despite their need to finish work quickly Jesus, Oscar, and Delmar always slow down when they approach my house so my son can run out to say hi and enjoy his favorite part of the day. They each wave, smile, and "honk honk" as Maverick motions to request one. These hard workers have become our favorite curbside visitors. When they leave my son cries each time requesting to see them again and luckily for us we get to see them three time a week. I don't think Jesus, Oscar, and Delmar know how special they are to our family. Their kindness, smiles, and only seconds long interaction with my son make our entire day better. I also appreciated how they triaged the types of furniture and loaded so many things onto multiple dollies in order to take it all down the elevator in as few trips as possible.
