Despite the pandemic, they are working to provide recreation programs and open facilities indoors and out, to the best of their ability. I enjoyed touring Benson and seeing ball fields, soccer fields, picnic shelters, the band stand home to summer concerts as soon as they can return, municipal park, sand volleyball, horseshoe pits, shuffleboard courts, playgrounds and the future site of a rehabbed space for a community center. While the Benson Civic Center at 1204 North Johnson shows its age, it was well maintained and designed for more active times. The weight room and cardio equipment are open with social distancing and masks required. The game room seemed so empty. There are two other under utilized meeting rooms due to the pandemic. The attached Benson Center for Active Aging was buzzing with volunteers at the clothing closet and also serves as a food pantry distribution site. Many virtual activities being offered as well.

I frequent here because of the gym. The membership is more than affordable (almost a steal), and the center is always well maintained. The gym isn't the biggest or fanciest, but it has everything you need to keep in shape. The rec center also offers a myriad of athletic programs (basketball, softball, soccer, etc.) for both the younger ones and the not-so-young. I highly recommend checking this place out!

Who wants to have an event where a complete stranger (Mr Lee)keeps walking in and out? After being told by a family member that we were wrapping up and will be out by 4! Even tho we were delayed by up to 45 minutes because of y'all negligence! 4. Mr Lee approached an older family member in the hallway saying "YOU MEN NEED TO TAKE ALL THIS TRASH OUT" Sir if you don't sit down somewhere. There's a way to talk to people. This YMCA location has a pool, free weights, and resistance equipment on the two levels of the business. Now it should be mentioned that I am looking at this park during the winter months, but there are still some glaring areas that need attention. There are many spots through the park with low lying areas that contain stagnant water that during the spring summer and fall will be breeding mosquitoes. Need to eliminate them with some fill dirt and reseed before it is too late to do so. You will spend more on chemicals to get rid of the bugs and will also drive out those people attempting to enjoy the park. As for the Disc Golf course, I got lost after hole 12. None of the tee boxes are concreted in. They are all mud holes. They need some help. I will re-review in Mid Spring.

They wouldn't accept that, we had to go in-person or they wouldn't accept it. (Shows you what they actually think about the health of their clients.) Didn't get cancelled, the payroll draft was still going out. Tried to cancel through other means (bank/work) but no, only in the gym itself. Eventually went in, filled out forms, done -- or so we thought. Payday comes, still going out. Okay, maybe we missed the cutoff for that month? Waited, and nope, still going out. My husband called them and complained. Manager was very apologetic--the paperwork wasn't done right, employee was new, mistake on their end etc. It would be cancelled and we would be refunded. Nope. Payday again, it's STILL going out. Called them AGAIN...and this time, they say "oh but it's a 30 day contract so we're allowed to charge you for another 30 days AFTER you cancel..." Get outta here. You've been taking $60 a month from my family for MONTHS, stop stealing peoples money you skeezy, unprofessional bunch of scammers.
