I have been calling all day July 24 2026 on hold 30 minutes . One call after another until recording said we are closed. try again Monday.

The web site locked me out for some unknown reason and gave me a message to call customer service. I dialed the number they gave and got put on hold with an annoying message that repeated every 10 seconds for an indefinite amount of time. I've been on hold for 15 minutes so far. No option for a call back, no option to stop the message from repeating, no estimate of time remaining on hold. Just horrible. This company withdrew money from one of my mother's accounts for years after my father died for an insurance policy that rightfully ended the moment he died. I finally managed to get someone from the company to stop withdrawing money and they agreed to refund the money they'd taken after his death, but we never received the refund. Would give 5 stars but I had to leave a message to get a return call in about an hour. I had them before through my employer, they covered everything for Tricare co-pays and prescriptions. But it's painful getting set up but once you do it is a breeze and well worth it if you go to a alot or have prescriptions. I bought through USBA this time which was simple and the customer service was great. If you rarely go to Dr or do not have prescriptions, not worth it. read more

Do not buy! The first year they were great! Not sure what happend. The past two years, despite sending the claim in email and mail, call every two weeks to hear them say they have not received my claim and to resend, nothing gets done until you request a supervisor or post a negative review on BBB. You are better off saving your money in an envelope old school and paying yourself on the difference between the bill and what Tricare pays. I really don't understand all these negative reviews. I've used them for over 20 years now. Sure there have been issues, but nothing any other insurance providers haven't had. Most problems stem from the person in the hospital or clinic and not Selman & Co. themself. Customer service is just as fast as calling your doctor (Which can be slow sometimes) and lots faster than calling Tricare! I'd give them 5 stars but there is always room for improvement. read more

My FIL has paid for LTC insurance policy for many years. It was originally through the Hartford. Well we have been trying to file a claim for over a month with no luck. We've been on hold for up to 2 hours just to get transferred over and over just to be told we would be called back-and no call back. I am about to contact the Ohio Insurance commissioner because this is totally unacceptable. read more

I started to believe they were out of business because I could never get someone on the phone. So I call the Hartford who actually holds my policy and asked them if this was still a functioning company. They gave me a different number to call that would supposedly get me through quicker...NOPE. Still waited on hold 45-hour. The portal NEVER works. Its just pitiful. This rating should only be a half of a star; however, that is not an option! I have been attempting to check claim status for pharmacy reimbursement for several months. I sat on hold for 3 hours at one point only to be told the office is open only 0900 to 1700 EST and to call back during those hours. Finally get through and then am told that TRICARE handles all calls. Every question in which I asked of the representative the answer was "I do not know the answer. You need to call back during the hours of 0900 to 1700 EST." She then proceeded to ask if I knew how to determine what EST was. SO my question is -- to whom am I speaking to TRICARE or Selman and Company? When asked what the website was to check claims status, the representative once again stated the hours of TRICARE. My husband and I have been using this particular company as a supplemental insurance. TOO BAD my husband has already paid the entire years premium to Selman and Company. I would not recommend this company to anyone seeking a supplemental insurance policy. read more

Too bad you can't use 0 stars. Worthless. This company is nothing but trouble. I started the ChampVA supplement for my wife on June 21, 2024. I paid upfront for the whole year. Never got the policy cards for wife. I have called these people numerous times because we could not create or register online for access. They kept going on and on about system issues. Finally they told me the first premium had to be MAILED in. No one in no way even mentioned that before. So I sent money order in Sep 9, 2024. Called Sep 27 and they said they have not received it even though postal service says delivered Sep 17, 2024. Said it wasn't cashed. Postal service receipt says it had been. So had to email member services with copy of money order receipt, etc. Then today I get 2 letters in the mail. One for Aug 2024 payment and another saying policy terminated due to non payment. What the hell is up with this piece of crap company. I am calling first thing Monday and they are simple NOT going to like my attitude with this entire mess. I am sick of dealing with this mess. Been trying to get this coverage started for my wife and it has been nothing but a complete freaking nightmare. They have their head so far up their A**ES its not funny anymore. read more

Someone out there has the magic number to get hold of a human. I have been paying since 1988 on a portable term policy (The Hartford). In 2003 I filed a clam (w The Hartford) and it paid out as promised. In 2006 I found out they sold to SelmanCo and was able to obtain a new certificate number and send in updated info. I tried to call recently 2021 (my premium increased to $144 a month). They could not 'find me'. I was able to confirm the cert # they gave me in 2006 was 'real' but beyond that - nothing. I was told they would call me back - nothing. I am now disabled and NEED to file to stop monthly payments but I cannot get hold of a human or a form or an address. I am considering stop payment on this policy - I feel strongly should a claim be filed on this - they would not honor it. read more

Spend many many hours on the phone waiting for answer than was passed from one department to other in order to file a claim after paying my policy over 17 years. After speaking with "claims department" in August of 2022 and December of 2022 never got promised paperwork to file a claim nor promised call back with in 48 hours from the Manager. I thank her but said no, because I will just get the standard form letter back that says we are reviewing your claims, BTW no tractability to the claim I submitted. How convenient can trace your claims. BTW Elizabeth the wait time is still over 30 minutes. I am not renewing my account, the only person paying is me. My dad stole my grandmother policies at time of death and I know for a fact I'm her beneficiary nobody reached out to me from the insurance company and when I contacted them a rep saw discrepancies with signatures that was turned in on my dad behalf and not one thing was done about it. Everyone I spoke with was very polite but in the end, I was unable to speak with someone who could actually review how claim amounts are determined. My issue: For an office visit my medical provider billed TriCare and received an EOB; Allowed amount as $123, Deductible $65 applied to my cap, and my co-share of $29. My medical provider maintained a copy of TriCare's EOB had been sent to Selman. Some months later, I received a bill from my provider for $55 but there was no breakdown of the amount Selman paid so I called Selman. I waiting in the phone queue for a while and finally spoke with the Selman customer rep. The rep maintained the Tricare EOB listed the TriCare allowed amount as $65 and Selman paid $12.03 to my provider. The TriCare allowed amount was inconsistent with the amount listed on the EOB. The rep maintained that the amount is send to them from my medical provider and he did not have the TriCare EOB. I faxed the Tricare EOB and then called to confirm receipt but couldn't wait that long on the phone. I called the next day to confirm and advised the fax was not received, so I faxed it again. I called to confirm receipt of the second fax and this time waited in the queue, and the fax was received. I then reviewed the Tricare allowed amount and asked how Selman determined their responsible amount. The rep maintained that a re-determination will be completed by Selman Claims within 7 to 10 days and that she did not know how amounts were determined. I asked for the contact information of Selman Claims and she maintained claims could not be contacted by me. That her only contact method was through regular company electronic methods. Couple things: I wish I didn't have a job so I could spend my time in the phone queue. Selman representatives are unable to provide a detailed accounting of claims. Contact with those who complete the claims are inaccessible. The website/customer login functionality is only for account monthly/annual premium payments and information. The site has no EOB detail... a key component of the service your actually paying Selman provide. Again, everyone I spoke with was very polite but in the end Selman does not provide an accounting of the service provided and continues to have extended customer service hold times. I gave Selman a 2 star review because I eventually reached a customer service representative, all of them were polite, and all completed what I would believe to be what they were able to do. read more

No doubt the worst insurance company I have ever come across. I have at least 20+ phone calls to this company since Nov. 22 2018 trying to receive a check that they owe me. On hold the last call for 47 minutes on Jan 18 2019. After apologizing saying they had messed up I was told I would receive my check within two days. It is Jan. 23 and still no check. I question whether this is a real insurance company. They sure dont miss taking payments from my check. I will soon find out because the next step is going to be the insurance commission. read more

I wish I could give this company zero start. They are HORRIBLE!! I've tried since February to get my claims for drug copays paid and after 6 calls, all I get is the run around. They couldn't manage to get my new address updated in both of their systems and sent my copay checks to the WRONG address TWICE! They told me over 2 months ago that they "think" they've corrected my address issue but still no checks. When I call, the rep tells me they're doing the exact same thing by stopping payments on the cks that went to the wrong address. That's the same thing the last 3 reps have told me so we're just spinning our wheels. Never do business with these people for anything. They're totally incompetent. read more

All the reviews on this company is spot on...they suck! My life insurance policy with Hartford is serviced through Selman. Was paying monthly via auto bank debit for a few years. On the last month (July 2020) before renewal, I changed the monthly payment to annual and they charged me over $1000 for the premium from August 2019-July 2020. Then a month later they charged me over $1200 for the annual premium for August 2020-July 2021. I finally got a rep on the phone after multiple calls (and emails that just goes in their junk mail because they never respond back) they could NOT tell me what happened to my monthly payments from August 2019-June 2020. I've asked for payment history...NOTHING! I was told someone from billing will call me back...NOTHING! I've been at it trying to get the double pmt refunded since August 2020. Anyone got their issues resolved? Should there be a class action lawsuit file against this company? Any help from anyone is appreciate it. Thank you. read more

All the reviews on this company made me nervous but I am overall satisfied with my service. Like many others, my life insurance policy with Hartford is serviced through Selman and I have had an overall good experience from day one. The only time I ran into an issue was when I missed my payment and the two people that I spoke with were very helpful and able to put me at ease. The call center agents are polite and had no problem getting me taken care of. My guess is that with all of the issues surrounding COVID there will be ups and downs, for me there have been more ups than downs. Overall good experience, good customer service and I am happy with Hartford. read more

Began paying the premiums for this ChampVA/Tricare supplememt 6 months before being " allowed," to make a claim. Asked what I needed to make a pharmay claim as ChampVA is now primary for my family. Was told: only the receipt from the pharmacy and the Selman Co. claim form. Today got notice of rejection of claim by Selman Co. Stated no EOB from ChampVA. The EOB is on the receipt. Called Selman and was on hold " forever". Really got no explanation. Was told," we will investigate and call you back". A feel a scam going on here. And what's up with the 6 month waiting period for preexisting conditions? I thought all that went away a long time ago. read more
