Worst decision I made after the fire that left all 3 families in our units homeless. I listened to all of their rhetoric about how they would help us get the best settlement terms and manage the entire process even working with the contractors to make sure all details were being addressed including upgrades based on coded requirements. Nope. The assigned adjuster (Josh Goldstein) regularly had taken weeks (and even more than a month on multiple occassions) to respond. Not an exaggeration and have plenty of text and calls to attest to this. Instead of effectively fighting for me, they got in the way of me being able to resolve or negotiate with the insurance company -- as they were not effective advocates. I worked with Peabody, Massachusetts office. In general, my recommendation is that you talk to your insurance agents before signing up with them or any public adjusters. Once you sign up with them, your hands are tied and you are completely reliant on them to negotiate with the insurance company. read more

While we were in Florida, we received a call that a sprinkler pipe on our second floor had burst over the weekend in February when temperatures plummeted to -10 degrees. Arriving back home, we discovered that water under high pressure had been flowing through all three floors of our home for over 1/2 hour before the fire department arrived and axed down our front door...through every ceiling, wall and floor. We've never experienced such a catastrophic event in our life and feel extremely thankful that we were directed to Anthony at Seltser and Goldstein Public Adjusters. Avoid Seltser & Goldstein at all costs. As the administrator of a two person condo association, I signed with them at the recommendation of my neighbor who had a fire in his basement of his unit. They were non-responsive all the time I was displaced, and continued to be (at least to the female trustee) throughout the process. They grossly mishandled the dual claim resulting from the fire, while the adjuster for Vermont Mutual Insurance was professional, transparent, and forthcoming. Unfortunately, the supposed advocacy of Seltser & Goldstein added a nightmare of complications, misinformation and delays. Payouts were held up in their office to pad the claim of one homeowner while ignoring the needs of the other, and I later discovered none of the issues I cited in repeated calls and emails were even reported by them. Their claim handler also helped procure contractors and service providers for one trustee while directing me to find my own. The other unit remains abandoned, untended or repaired despite cashed out funds, while S&G continues to file for upgrades. This no doubt contributed to the master insurance policy not being renewed and the devaluation of the entire property. Perhaps I was naive to accept the other trustee's advice to hire Seltser & Goldstein, but these 19 months of obfuscation and collusion have led to the ruin of my home. read more

I never thought I would use a public adjuster for an insurance claim. I am pretty well versed in the claims process and did not see the merit of using a public adjuster in the past. However, when I had a small fire at an investment property I own, it came at a very bad time when there was a lot of other demands of my time. The owner's son, Joshua, was a the site while the fire investigators did their job and I tended to the tenants needs along with the Red Cross. Even though I dismissed the need for his services, he stayed around and actually had a board up and cleaning service give me their contact for afterwards. By the time things wrapped up, I figured, hey, why not use the help. It was a great decision. I was referred by my brother who had a decent experience and after a flood in my condo, I got switched to another agent who has literally made this process a living nightmare.
