    Mouse chef's special desert

What a beautiful experience. Walked in with the intention of enjoying the experience and it was beyond my expectations. Service was great. Burrata Caprese was very flavorful with the perfect amount of salt and peppers and the sauces combination was great. Bronzino special was great, sauce was so good and veggies were still crunchy. Tried the chefs special mouse for desert and it was a perfect combination of textures with the crunchy caramel and the drizzles of fruit which made it taste very refreshing. I definitely recommend this place. It was such a nice dining experience.

This place is amazing! We went here for Father's Day. I had the Petto Di Pollo (chicken with cream sauce, mixed vegetables), and my family had Shrimp Fettochini and Chicken Fettochini. All the food was amazing! For dessert, we had the Gelato, Raspberry Sorbet, and chocolate torto. Absolutely awesome! The service was excellent, too! I can't recommend this place enough!!! It's right across the street from Prince William Hospital (now called UVA Hospital - Prince William, I think)

We visited Semifreddo in September for our anniversary, and we were blown away by the exceptional service and atmosphere. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome and taken care of. The sommelier definitely knew her wines and helped us choose the perfect bottle to complement our meal. Every recommendation felt thoughtful, not pushy, and the entire wait staff was attentive, without hovering. One of the highlights was getting to watch the chef in action, being a semi-open kitchen. It gives behind-the-scenes vibes in a very modern, clean space. It's an upscale restaurant, but it never felt stuffy. That said, it's best if you call the babysitter. After our meal we had a chance to meet the chef who was incredibly kind and unpretentious- despite his impressive and well established career. If you're looking for great food and wine, and top-tier service in a clean, contemporary setting (there aren't many places like this around here), go check it out.

You'll see some criticism in this review and maybe wonder if a 5 is really warranted. First of all, this is the best restaurant I've been to in Manassas. It might be the best Italian restaurant I've been to outside the beltway. So while they could do a couple things better, yes, I think 5 is the right number and we will be back, probably often. We were debating an appetizer and our waiter actually suggested we skip it to save room for dessert. We were there on Valentine's Day after all. We were originally going to start with 2 different salads and again our waiter informed us that 1 salad between the two of us would be enough. A restaurant NOT upselling? What? The salad was delicious. Lightly dressed and everything on it was fresh. We got the arugula and fennel salad and that's a combination I really enjoy. The bread service was also good. The focaccia was maybe a touch overworked if I had to find a negative but the olive oil and pepper to accompany it was a nice simple and relatively healthy way to start the meal. My wife ordered the salmon and I ordered a halibut that was a special. Both dishes had amazing flavor. The potatoes had a smoky flavor and were not overly seasoned so the potatoes flavor came through. I like broccoli, but holy cow I wish I knew what they did to their broccoli to make it taste so good. Really really amazing sides. And the fish was seasoned really well, too, and very fresh. My first complaint comes in at this point, though. Both dishes were a bit over in terms of the doneness of the fish. Still, a great meal but it could have been a little better if the fish had been cooked perfectly. On to dessert. My wife got the semifredo. It's in the restaurants name so you figure it will be good. It was very good. I got the creme brulee. When we asked the waiter what dessert to get, he didn't mention the creme brûlée. But I figured it was a special and so I wouldn't necessarily get to try it again. It was just ok. The custard was good. Slight hint of orange. The the topping was not good. It was over brûléed in spots to the point that it was almost burned and then under cooked in other areas so that the sugar hadn't quite set. The flavor overall was good, but I definitely regret my dessert decision. As I mentioned before the staff were delightful -- not enough words to express how great they were. The decor was upscale. More so than I expected for where the restaurant is located. Lots of touches of wood with understated lighting. It felt really elegant and perfect for a Valentine's Day date.

Enjoyed an early Father's Day dinner at SEMIFREDDO Italian Cuisine. We love the inclusive atmosphere and truly family feel of the staff. They were very accommodating ensuring our daughter, Harper, who's on the spectrum enjoyed her experience as well. If you have not been, make sure you add it to your list of places to dine. We of course also got the grilled Caesar salads but the boys dug in before I could get a photo

I had an incredible experience here. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful -- the design and color scheme are thoughtfully done and create a true upscale, fine dining vibe. The food was outstanding. Every dish was not only delicious but also presented perfectly -- you can tell they really care about the details. Even something as simple as the Arnold Palmer was spot on (and I'm picky about those). The owner personally recommended the ravioli with their special bisque sauce, and it completely exceeded expectations. The flavor was rich, unique, and perfectly balanced, and the presentation was just as impressive. One thing to note -- this is definitely a fine dining establishment, so come dressed appropriately to match the ambiance. Overall, an amazing experience from start to finish. Highly recommend and will definitely be back. -- Kalvin

Very nice experience and Italian restaurant!! Drove a lengthy bit and did not disappoint. I tried the Rigatoni Lamb Meatball dish and it was fantastic!!

The place looks fancy but not overly so. My bf and I were seated across from the kitchen so we got to see them cooking and heard all the Italian being spoken by the chef. Was pretty fun. The food was great. I had the lobster bisque which at first I thought was a bit too "seafoody" tasting and not as thick as I wanted, but the more I ate it, the more I loved it. I just always had bisque that was a little thicker but the taste was excellent. My bf had the sausage pasta. It didn't look that great presentation wise, but he really enjoyed the flavors. I think the spinach pasta just was appealing. I had the linguini vongole and it's the best in the area. I wish it has some garlic bread so I can dip in the sauce. The only down side was the focaccia bread they served prior to the meal. It was too chewy and not in a good way. It was also not warm and the flavor was lacking. Very disappointing. Good thing the other dishes made up for the subpar bread. And the tiramisu dessert was spot on.

As I travel every week for work, I am always looking for non-chain destinations that serve great food in a great atmosphere. I found this at SEMIFREDDO which also happens to be the name of their spectacular one-of-a-kind dessert. The staff is very welcoming, the atmosphere is amazing, the chef came out and introduced himself, and he and the staff are why this place is one of the best Italian restaurants I've been to in my travels not to mention in this small town I came here twice in the week that I was here and was never disappointed. I had the fruti de mare as well as the meatballs with linguine. I liked the wine selection and it paired very well with my meals. I cannot reiterate, how friendly and welcoming the staff were. If I lived here, I would eat here once a week

    Fettuccini di spinachi al norcina

My family went to SEMIFREDDO last night for dinner. Despite its location in a strip mall, this place inside is a vibe. Their service was excellent. The focaccia was very good. My husband and daughter ordered the special tomato soup, which was delicious. I ordered the Romano salad. The salad was delicious and multi faceted with grilled Romain, cherry peppers and a delicious dressing. My daughters split the fettuccini Alfredo with shrimp. They really enjoyed it. My husband had the veal saltimbocca and he loved the veal, vegetables and polenta. I had the fettuccine di spinachi al norcina. If a was wonderful. We finished the meal with my daughters sharing the sorbet and my husband and I sharing the gelato. The food and the experience was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Another absolutely amazing celebration at Semifreddo Italian Cuisine! The dining experience was welcoming as always from entry, to departure of a well crafted unique menu at this locally owned friendly neighborhood Italian restaurant owned by chef, Franklin Hernandez, and his wife, Zaira Hernandez. A few of the evening's selections have been highlighted in photos. Be sure to add this hidden treasure on your "to go" list!!

After checking in, we were quickly guided upstairs to a cozy, rounded booth--an intimate and perfect spot for two. Our server, Katie, was fantastic--attentive, knowledgeable, and refreshingly honest when helping us choose between dishes. We started with the deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes, paired with the Black Sheep Mule and a watermelon cocktail (wish I remembered the name!). For our mains, we ordered the short rib rigatoni and the steak bulgogi bowl. To finish, we shared the weekly dessert special: an Earl Grey tres leches. Everything was exactly what I hoped for and more. The starters were standout, the entrees were packed with flavor, and the overall aesthetic of the space was just beautiful. We'll definitely be back--next time for brunch!

It was also my first time at The Black Sheep but I had always heard wonderful things - all of which turned out to be true. The loft area is beautiful and overlooks the entire restaurant. Also when you reserve the loft, which holds up to 16 people, you order off the regular menu. I loved this as other places I checked into were much more restrictive with a higher minimum spend and fixed menus for groups larger than 8. We had 12 in our group. We started with a bunch of appetizers for the table and cocktails. Appetizers included the bacon tower, fried green tomatoes, hushpuppies, crispy chicken wings, and Mediterranean garlic shrimp. Dinner entreés were jambalaya pasta, the American wagyu burger, pulled short rib rigatoni and branzino almondine. There were zero complaints. We enjoyed EVERYTHING!! The bourbon butter cake with vanilla ice cream for dessert literally took me over the top. My belly was ready to burst :) Our waiter was attentive throughout the entire time and everything we ordered came out perfect. I must go back soon. It is a distance from where I live but there's so many things on the fabulous menu I want to try.

We arrived on time for our reservation and were told to wait a few minutes. While waiting, it became clear that everyone else waiting also had reservations. Over the next 10 minutes, other people arrived for their reservation and were also told to wait. The hosts didn't seem to have any idea what they were doing, there were empty tables available and nobody was being seated. After waiting 15 minutes, we were seated at this tiny table next to an empty booth. I had requested a booth when I made the reservation and I inquired if we could take the booth. This guy tried to argue with me, then said he would 'go check.' He comes back 5 minutes later and says 'yeah, that's your table,' meaning the tiny table. I was tired of arguing so we sat down. Despite a continuous crowd in the waiting room, the booth stayed empty for over half an hour. The server was fine and the food was fine, but we have already decided to go somewhere else next year after being so disrespected. When I told the host I had requested a booth, he asked when I made my reservation, and also said that requests cannot be honored on New Years Eve. Again, I've done this the last 5 years! It was obvious the people handling seating were inexperienced and non apologetic about it. I came to Carmello's for ambiance, food, and the general upscale vibe but that was seriously lacking last night.
