Recently went to Semillas to attend a friends birthday party. They rented the space for her event and I was blown away by how beautiful and large the space was. During the event, the staff member there was able to sell me and my friends plants. The space is gorgeous and the staff was kind, accommodating, and helpful. I am definitely coming back with my friends to buy more plants, jewelry, custom arrangements, candles and other home goods.

Love this local plant shop! We get the eucalyptus and lavender bundles which always last a couple weeks and smell amazing!

Pretty easy to find on 18th St. Prior to entering, you must wear a mask which is the norm these days. They only allowed a max of 6 people in the shop so don't be surprised if you have to wait in line for a bit. There was someone offering/pumping hand sanitizer as soon as I walked in which was nice. The shop itself isn't huge but it had a nice selection of plants. I didn't see some plants that I saw on their Instagram from a week prior to me going so I'm assuming that they rotate often. Came here during my lunch break on a Wednesday and I enjoyed popping in. Staff was super friendly and the owner was sooooooo informative. I can't wait to come back here and check out their next stock of plants!

I went to this beautiful plant studio and I'll be back again. I've been looking for a Calathea plant to replace my pin stripped that died (whom I called Cali). Every other nursery didn't have any Calatheas and I was losing hope and said let me try this last spot and it was a winner! The associates were so sweet and you're greeted by the cutest dog. Now the dog will creep up on you because he's supper quite and will cause no harm as he just wants to get to know you. Just don't be like me and drop a plant in the mix . I'll be back again soon as this place will be my first stop for plants. Thanks for the newest addition to my home.

Stopped by Semillas on a rainy day and it was the best decision. Ordered a latte, chatted with the owners, browsed their plants and florals, and played with their dog. I've had a lot of coffee and this latte was a standout. A smooth latte, no bitterness, and perfect texture. While they don't have set hours for when they offer coffee, I will definitely be back!

The owner and her husband are the sweetest people. Every time I come in I want everything! She helps me pick out plants and vases that match my aesthetic at home. There's a little coffee bar at the back that is open on weekends! All the stuff in this store is so cute, you'll want everything! Support Latina businesses!!!

She has good selection of plants and the price is reasonable. I had bought scindopsis exotica and it's already trailing.

I was so happy to discover this plant studio! I came in for a gift but would definitely come back to buy plants for myself! They have a small but interesting selection of houseplants (mostly in the small to medium size range, though there are some larger, gallon-size varieties) and a few decorative pots, all for reasonable prices. The staff were very helpful and I purchased a lovely Calathea (prayer plant) and pot. A great alternative to buying plants at a big box store.

Very welcoming and clean environment. Staff was very friendly and the dog was so cute! I will definitely be back!

It definitely feels extensive and organized with sections for soil, different climates/plant needs, and grade of plant. The indoor plants I've bought here are mostly doing great if a little neglected from my own care. We ended up planting some of the outdoor plants too early, but the quality was great overall. Given the late last frost date here, I would just wait to buy outdoor plants in the spring. The parking lot is extensive, and they have several community events as well as opportunities to host birthday parties for any age. Staff were really helpful and efficient at the register.

They have tons of plants and lots of plant supplies. I think we only looked at like half of the store, to be honest. It's a huge place, and I think that's one of the reasons I didn't love it. I like small neighborhood plant shops, and this was just super large. They have a lot going on here... in addition to the plants/supplies, there's a large bird cage in the store. I guess you can go into the cage? I had zero interest in that, but if you want to it's $15. I was sad that we didn't happen upon the turtle, though, because I know my daughter would have been thrilled if we'd bumped into him. They have a go fund me or kickstarter or something because I guess their lease is not renewed (wonder what that means for this strip mall from a bygone era), so I'm not sure what the future of the Jungle of Niles is. They are hoping to move--that's the reason for the fundraiser--but if you've harbored a desire to visit, I would stop by just in case.

They do have a good sized field house here, with programming for a variety of age ranges, so it's worth checking out the CPD activities schedule. There's lots of green space, but also baseball fields, tennis courts, and a nice sized playground. The playground, too, serves a nice range of ages. But what I liked most about this park was the greenhouse and outdoor natural play area. There are places for kids to sit for various activities that take place here, an outdoor kitchen, and a large greenhouse. It's called a "teaching greenhouse", and is unique amongst Chicago parks (at least as of 2026). There's a program called garden buddies aimed at toddlers and I wish I lived closer to be able to have my child participate in it! There's also a plant sale each year. If all that weren't enough, an orchard--the first in a major metropolitan city in the US!--was planted in 2008. Apples, pears, and more--including the paw paw, an unusual, native Illinois fruit--grow on these trees. Currants, berries, and more have also been planted here. I'm excited to keep an eye on their events.

Next to it they have this beautiful park for the kids to play in the playground. Also they have tennis courts and you can improvise and play pickleball as well. Definitely a great value of time to keep this garden beautiful.
