Decided to treat myself and came here for a pedicure! The staff was very friendly and sweet and the spa area was comfortable and clean. That being said, the pedicure I got was absolutely NOT WORTH what I paid for it. The salon therapist did a fine job, however for the price I was expecting much more from the service. The pedicures include a sugar scrub, massage, cutting and trimming and shellac. It was an extremely basic service that did not warrant spa prices. I could have gone down the street for the same thing and same overall experience for half the price. Overall, very disappointed and will not be back for nail services and would not recommend. :( read more

What can I say? I'm depressed. This use to be my favorite place to stay. No more! Nobody is at the bar/restaurant and the food use to be great. Now, just OK at best! Sad to say but I will not return after almost 15 years of loyalty. Good bye!!!! read more

We got there on Saturday at 3. It was so hot in there could not turn the heat off.. It smelled so bad stale beer and pot. At 9pm the hallway was so loud of drunk people opening an slamming doors. We left Saturday night after all this. Also I dropped my phone went to reach for it an found another remote so we had 3 one for the bathroom tv and one for the bedroom tv. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone! read more

The rooms are dated but extremely clean and comfortable and very large compared to other hotels in the area. The staff is friendly and very welcoming. I love the heater in the bathroom ceiling and the room we stayed in had a mini fridge and a tv in the bathroom. We will definitely stay here again read more

Not sure why the negative reviews. We had a great stay - closest hotel for Ironman 70.3 Augusta. Close to town (about 2M) and Target walking distance up the road. 2 pools with a spa, gym and resto on site (only serves breakfast and lunch tho). Staff were very kind - everyone from front desk to gym to cleaning were so nice and helpful - and we were traveling w a little one who has found his voice! King Suite Room was HUGE - 2 sinks which was helpful and a Kitchenette including fridge/freezer, keurig and basics. Lots of room for little one to run around safely - even in the various halls. read more

The room - 126 - was not well maintained. It was apparent the AC unit had not been cleaned in a VERY LONG time. Furnishings were probably lovely when they were new...in 1960. The bathroom design is dysfunctional. No vanity or towel rack convenience. Power outlets virtually inaccessible. I would not EVER stay here again or recommend this place. And, the audacity to leave an envelope suggesting some sort of a tip for housekeeping is ballsy when the facility expressly indicates it DOES NOT provide daily housekeeping and the occupant is responsible for requesting towels and other necessities daily by 10 am. Unfortunately, due to my circumstance, I did not have another accommodation alternative for the two night stay, but I can with 100% certainty state that I would/will never again be a patron of this establishment. I had a very relaxing weekend enjoying the sauna, steam room, gym and pool. The spa was heavily booked but I was fortunate enough to get in for a pedicure with Susie. Hotel room wasn't clean. The carpets turned out socks black and housekeeping doesn't come in, but you can request to have them give you sheets to change yourself. We had to leave a day early and the manager refused to give us a credit for the additional night, even though she stated it was hotel discretion to apply a credit. I booked through hotels.com and tried to call them to get a credit on the last night, then the manager lied to the agent and stated that I didn't tell them I was checking out early until after I paid which didn't make any sense. I guess it was their way to make money because the hotel was empty. read more

Dont stay here if you sre looking to relax. Its a fleabag motel that someone dressed up in a bow tie. Dirty, loud, smelly, obnoxious are the best words to describe this place. Dont get me wrong if you happen to enjoy listening to meth heads have sex to loud techno music until early hours of the morning or being woken up by plows at 5am on saturday and sunday shking the walls of your ground level room or listening to people argue through the paper thin walls of this place, this might be the place for you. Dirty walls, furniture, door knobs and furnishings that look like they came from goodwill. Litterally the worst place i have stayed in years. I wore flip flops in the room the whole time as i was scared that i would catch something. The ads online make this place look clean but it is not. I had a great massage and visit to the spa at the Senator Inn and Spa. my sisters and I came together to get massages and use the spa (using the spa is free when you come for a massage). There is co-ed pool, hot tub, and steam room, and gender separated saunas in the locker rooms. The massage was great. The facilities are really charming. The decor is very decadent and a little bit dated, but the locker rooms and pool were designed with a comfortable experience in mind. The interior of the locker rooms and pool have an ancient Roman theme with detailed tile work and murals on the walls of the pool and locker room interior. Everything is a bit old (or just feels a bit dated I guess), but it's well maintained and thoughtfully designed (for example, the lighting is well designed) and for Pete's sake, this is Augusta, not Portland or Boston, so to have a facility like this is incredibly special! The staff were very kind and professional. There's a gym on site here too (basically a nice corporate hotel gym) and I assume it's possible to use that facility too. I met several people here who are local members. If I lived closeby I would be a member and come here regularly too. Basically, this is a hidden gem, and well worth the visit. At the time I am writing this, the Senator Inn and Spa only has 2.5 stars, which really surprised me. I had a great time and will come again. read more

Wow! What an unexpected experience! I had a massage by Whitley and she crushed it. I prefer deep tissue and I swear I almost fell asleep. The massage table is heated and she placed a hot pack on my back while working on my legs! The ladies at the front desk were super helpful as I was lost and had no idea where to go. They give you a robe and sandals upon arrival with request. Their amenities are superb and I had access all day to the spa and pool area with my receipt. Must see place! read more

Bathtub was built for amputees and vertically challenged. For breakfast I was handed a cold brown bag breakfast. Underripe small orange, 4 oz plain yogurt, hard and cold egg and chz muffin with no expiration that says to heat at 350. There is no oven in the room. I'm going to ihop now. read more

Hard to rate this one because the highs are HIGH and the lows are BAD. We stayed in one of the suites with a jacuzzi tub. It was quite nice but a little small for my 6'3" frame. The room itself was decent. Comfy bed, nice fireplace, nice decor. A little on the 4 star side, but for what we paid, definitely worth it. Room service was quick and very good from Cloud 9, although the menu is heavy on the seafood so I had limited options. The spa was mostly wonderful. Max, my massage therapist was simply perfection. He really helped me with my back and told me what to do when I go home and want to start regular massage therapy. The steam room was DIVINE. It was a really love relaxing pit stop after my massage and before the pool. The pool, however, was a disaster. I say this because it was one of the major sticking points to staying this weekend for a relaxing getaway from the city. They have posted rules about children and behavior but they are in no way enforced. There was never a time when it was just adults or supervised families. It felt like the damn ymca. Kids running around, screaming, splashing... it would be one thing if this were expected, but the website holds itself to a level of decorum that one would be expecting a relaxing spa pool, not a community center where all relaxation I had was thrown out the window. Our tub drained S L O W L Y. To the point where we had standing water for at least an hour after each use. And when it did drain it was LOUD. All in all, it was a decent relaxing stay with major disappointment around the pool and aspects not living up to what was advertised. 6 stars to the spa portion! read more

Parking - Convient, free and lots of it. Cons: Cleanliness - hair behind the bathroom door. Floor was dirty. Front of the sink vanity had several "things" dripping down it. Stains? Then paint over it. Left us with an unclean feeling for the rest of the room whether it was or not. Overall felt old. Wall paper lifting up etc. Ramp up to the second floor entry door was steep. Can't imagine an older person climbing that. Not many cons but the cleanliness sunk our rating. We would go back for a meal but not to stay. *Georgia needs a bonus! read more

I was not a guest--I have used the GYM facility regularly when I come stay with my family. It is a beautiful place, but there is little concern in some essential ways. TVs are absolutely not maintained--for example, only TWO out of the whole lot appears to get HGTV because one of the channels just doesn't "work" on the others. None of the weight equipment is "updated"--meaning it is circa 1970s--but this is not a weight-lifter's gym. It allows you to maintain when away, but for strength training on a regular basis, I'd go to Planet Fitness. The front desk staff has been overwhelmingly unwelcoming. There are regular users of the gym who "mess" it up, but are never spoken to--even when advised about. As an example, one regular in the mornings ALWAYS brings 20 LB dumbbells into another room and just leaves them on the floor for someone to trip over (and, at minimum, put away). He also takes a cup of water and, instead of throwing it away, leaves it around for someone else to get rid of. Really boorish behavior that staff knows about but chooses to ignore. At my gyms in NYC, the member would be spoken to. A lot of this could be addressed through written rules posted on the wall if the gym was interested in doing so. It likely would not prevent people like this one weekday morning member from hazarding up the gym (which should be very explicitly dealt with), but it would certainly help. Overall, very pleasant atmosphere, barely adequate equipment, and unimpressive management. read more

I had heard such good things about this hotel. Over the years I had always wanted to check out the inside,but finally had my chance. It was my anniversary and we could not go that far away so rented a room. For the price you would have thought it would be AMAZING! Far from it. NOTHING like the pictures. The room was small and narrow. It smelled like mold and wasn't anything special. It had a king size bed that was stiff as a board. It had a coffee maker that didn't work. A microwave that was dirty and a mini fridge. There was a couch ,that was outdated, that looked out of place. There was one tv that didn't swival so you couldn't see it from the couch. The doorway was dark. There were no lights and scary to walk into the room. We tried to navigate around and it's a bit confusing. You have to go through the spa just to get to the pool. That in itself is a bit awkward. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. read more

It was disgusting, paint peeling off the ceiling and walls, trash cans had something sticky all over them, the lamps were rusted, the check in employees were rude as hell, we stayed two night and they didn't program our keys for more than one night so we had to go back all around to the registration office so they could issue us new keys, there was trash in the ice bucket, the springs in the bed poked my back and hips, the tv signal was pixilated, they never told us a head of time of the pool being closed, so we had to pay for a service that wasn't available to us, neighbors car alarm was going off and on since 1am and we called and they didn't do anything about it! They circled the wrong room so we ended up trying to get in the wrong room. Fun times NOT!!!! I posted only a few things that went wrong, we were so disgusted with this place and way over priced! I will be talking to the manager to get a refund of some kind! The manager wasn't available when I asked for one! read more

I'm giving The Senator Inn two stars but only because of how hilarious this place was! The first thing you'll notice is how chopped and cramped the hotel is. Lots of additions have created a maze of odd corners and hallways. Dirty and in disrepair throughout. The carpet, furniture, sheets, and towels were funky. The room itself tasted like Glade. There was toothpaste splatter on the walls and mold in the bathtub. On to what was hilarious... I would describe the decor as schizophrenic. The entry was cramped old hotel. The bar was a combination of leopard painted walls and traditional English library. The dining room has three sections. The first looked like a theme from The Little Mermaid. Very pastel with seats that looked like giant seashells. The next was like Denny's in the Maine woods, with the support posts covered in birch bark. Finally came the open kitchen (very much the highlight) in traditional Tuscany. My absolute favorite part of this hotel was the endless abundance of wall hangings. Tons of mismatched, creepy, odd, tacky, pictures everywhere! Many of them awkward looking people with eyes that follow you as you go. I will post a couple of my favorites for your viewing pleasure. I stayed here because I was attending a business event at the Augusta Civic Center, and it was on the list of recommended hotels. WHAT A DUMP!!! When I checked in, I was "upgraded" to a suite. The suite happened to be located in the basement. Think of a scary movie in an old hotel from the 50's. With the scary wallpaper and pictures with the moving eyes. Yes, that's the Senator Inn. The food was good but the staff was really bad. We had Thanksgiving Brunch we made a reservation and asked for the lounge as my wife is hearing impaired and needs a quiet place. We requested the lounge when we made the call months ago. When we showed up we were told that the lounge wasn't available. The Host refused at first to listen to what we were saying that we had someone who was Handicapped. He was over talking my mother in law who was trying to explain. He was trying to make us sit in another room. I said we will wait for the lounge. Finally I walked out and told someone who I didn't know was a manger this place sucks. She Than got involved and we were seated in the lounge u think they would train there staff to accommodate those with Handicaps. Than when we were eating dinner and again the food was great a server walked by us and said I want to go home this place stinks. In front of us. The host did apologize when we walked out but they need training to be sensitive to those with handicap issues. I won't ever go back. read more

Old and outdated like the rest of the reviews have stated. The good: very pet friendly! Large pet rooms available with laminate flooring. Plenty of space to go out for a walk and they have doggy stations (not stocked) throughout the premises. Indoor pool was great. Restaurant on site has pretty good food. The bad: extremely loud, everywhere. Anytime a door closed in our hallway ours would shake violently. Very outdated furniture, really needs an overhaul. Bathroom needs a deep cleaning, although it was "clean" I honestly think they just need to be remodeled at this point. We found blood on our bed spread that had gone straight through to the sheets. Housekeeping replaced them for us but not a great thing to find ever. They charged the wrong credit card for the room. Very very confusing layout. I would not want to get stuck in there in an emergency... oh yea we did.... 7am fire alarm with no explanation. Just shut it off, no instruction from staff. Very low lighting inside, not many options for lights in your room either, many dark dreary corners. The hype of this place does not in any way live up to what it is. Whenever I am looking for a day off at the spa, I head to the Senator! The staff are attentive, polite, and very accommodating. The large indoor mineral pool in usually not crowded. The ladies changing room has a lovely sauna room. The co-ed steam room is also amazing. Indoor hot tub that guests can control is always clean and relaxing. The outdoor pool is lovely and heated. I treat myself to a massage a couple times of year and have never had a bad experience. The staff are well trained, friendly, if you don't like to chat during a massage (like me) they respect their clients wishes. I have always felt comfortable in their massage rooms, the soft lighting and music help relax the mind. I like to order a spa salad and glass of wine which they will bring over from the restaurant to the spa for a small fee, a $2 fee I am happy to pay to eat my salad in my bathing suit and comfy fluffy spa robe which comes with your spa treatment. Lockers are available in exchange for car keys. The only reason I cannot give five stars if because the service in the restaurant could be faster. I've eaten in the Cloud 9 restaurant almost every time I go and each time I wish the food came out faster and the servers brought drinks/refills faster. The quality of the food is outstanding, everything is fresh, flavorful, generous it just takes a long time coming out of the kitchen. If you are in a hurry for lunch or only have 60 mins I'd recommend the lunchtime pizza/salad buffet. Very reasonable and you should be able to get in and out fairly quickly. I love the Senator Inn and Spa and am working on becoming a regular patron! read more

Room is very outdated, windows are disgustingly dirty, they never mentioned the restaurant would be closed during our stay. The front desk clerk barely acknowledged we were here, basically dismissing us as if we were a bother, zero personality and no use at all. Overrated, overpriced and not worth the price!! Well, it just keeps getting worse, my wife asked for extra pillows and she was told by the same rude desk clerk that all the pillows were allocated and he had no extras!! REALLY, NO PILLOWS!! This place is a joke. We will definitely never return here again!!! We travel quite often, sometimes just for a day or two and also have made many trips to different countries, never have we had such a horrible experience at a place of lodging!!! read more

No, so you would think you had the day. Heather at the spa with her blank dead stare saying "oh I'm sorry it's policy" over and over or "you could buy a day pass for $28!" That's crazy. This hotel/ "spa" is the absolute worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. The lady at the front desk was the absolute rudest person I have ever dealt with in my life. She was so unhelpful and short with us. We stayed here for a wedding and 4 months prior, when booking the reservation, I requested to check in early if possible Because we had a wedding to get ready for.I called the week of our reservation to request an early check in again but got a voicemail. I left my name and number but never received a call back. I think at this point the front desk lady decided that she just wasn't going to help me and was going to purposely give me a hard time. We showed up to the hotel at 1:45pm and the women who came around the corner rolled her eyes at us before we even said anything. We asked if our room was ready and her response "most likely no but I'll check" then she told us we wouldn't be able to check in till right at 3pm. I was super disappointed but understood because I realize it's just a request but was also a little put off with how cold and short the lady at the front desk was. So we went down the street to get something to eat/ drink (the hotel bar/ restaurant doesn't open till 4pm). We came back right before 3pm to check in and the same rude lady proceeded to tell us that the system shows that our room isn't ready and she cannot check us in. It was 3pm and she knew we had a wedding and before even checking with housekeeping she was so quick to just tell us no. We stood there in shock and asked for any other room but she said the hotel was completely booked and couldn't offer that. Finally she got ahold of housekeeping and they told her that the room was ready, they just hadn't updated it in their system. Our room was in the back, not attached to the hotel/ "spa". It was a complete dump and I would never ever ever stay there again. A funny note was there was about 7 empty rooms around us, so I don't know how this place was completely booked up. I really believe that the lady at the front desk was annoyed with my request to check in early and just wanted to make us mad. She wouldn't let us check in early no matter what and she stuck us in the worst area of the hotel possible. I have stayed at a lot of hotels and am not someone who is hard to please but this was 100% the worst hotel experience. read more

I am here now. It is 12:41 AM. The front desk checked in some people next to me and they are having a loud party. When I called to ask to change rooms, the front desk guy hung up on me. I called back and he said to me, and I quote, "Go fuck yourself, and don't call back." He must be terminated. It is unbelievable that someone like that could possibly work for this hotel and speak to a guest like that when the guest is making a valid complaint about the noise that is so bad it prohibits sleep. read more

Where do I even begin. DO NOT STAY HERE. Unless you want terrible customer service and a headache. I cancelled my reservation within 24 hours (as it stated on the website there would be no charge if done so within this time frame) and they still fought with me on the charge for weeks! The manager even stated that would issue a refund, so we waited a few days to see if go through.
