So recently I've been thinking about taking my mom on a trip to Europe, Paris and Rome to be exact. We are both seasoned travelers but have never traveled together. On all my past trips I've made all the booking of hotels and flights but this time I was a little too busy so I thought I would reach out to a travel agent. I checked with my trusted Yelp and found Senator Travel to have great reviews. So I jumped in my car and drove over. When I walked in the third floor office I was greeted by two receptionist. I was told to have a seat and that Andre would be with me shortly. Around five minutes later Andre came and greeted me and I followed him back to his office. I thought we hit it off really well. He asked all the right questions, what my budget was, when we were leaving/returning, how many days in each city, I mean he was on top of everything. I even found out he was from Portugal and I told him my niece was born in the Azores. He told me he would call or email me later that day with a draft of my trip. I actually walked out their office feeling really excited. I was so excited that I started researching hotels for my trip. I didn't receive a call or email from Andre until after 6 pm by than I had already a list of placed that I was interested in. I looked over the draft that Andre emailed me and although the flights were fine the hotels he picked were not in the area we spoke of and were not rated very high. Even with the little bit of time that I spent researching hotels the one's I found were at the same rate or lower but very much higher rated than the one's Andre recommended. So I emailed Andre back with the hotels I found to see what kind of prices he could get. Nothing..not a phone call or a email from Andre the next day until once again around 6 pm (which I found out is around when he leaves) Now if you've ever done any traveling you know how important it is to get your hotels and flight booked early because anything can change, hotels and flights can get filled up. Any travel agent will tell you this. Andre email said that he was still checking on the hotels I sent him. All day? So I rolled up my sleeves and got to work. Within two hours I was done. In that time I found direct flights to and from Europe and hotels that had great review's in area's that we liked compared to the one-stop flights and low rated hotels Andre offered. The best thing was I did it for $80.00 dollars less. To Summarize: What took me two hours to book it probably should have taken Andre, who I imagine is a pro less than half that time. Why didn't he communicate with me? When I was sitting in Andre office he mentioned to me how they got commission from the hotel I would be staying at, so when I didn't like the hotels that Andre picked and picked my own it probably put a dent in their commision and maybe that's why he was reluctant to help me or at the least but me at the bottom of his to do list. Make your own plans and deal directly with the hotels and you will save money. One hotel that Andre recommended wanted $ 928.50 for a four night stay. I went directly to the hotels website and put in the same exact days and I got a quote of $ 490.00. Remember the hotel is paying them commission so someone is going to pay for it and it's not going to be the travel agent or the hotel. read more

A few months ago I realized that my honeymoon to Italy and France was quickly approaching, and apart from one small aspect of our trip, nothing was planned! I quickly started researching flights and hotels, but got more and more overwhelmed. Our first problem is that we're beginning and ending our trip in two different locations, so I needed to find double the flights. Also the flights I did find were crazy expensive. Secondly, while I didn't need to find a place to stay in France (Paris, specifically), I know very little about Rome and Florence so finding accommodations there is tricky. I really wanted to stay at beautiful, romantic hotels, but honestly every place get mixed reviews, and I had no one who could give me any real insight. I decided to try the help of a travel agent. The first agency I tried acted like they were doing me a favor by working for me, and would not even LOOK INTO a proposal until I first paid them a large deposit. Then, when I mentioned that since it was our honeymoon, we wanted romance and atmosphere over fancy luxury, the woman snootily said she did not look at hotels with less than three stars, which had nothing to do with my request. Senator Travel was my second attempt, and I could not be happier! During my first conversation with him, David made it clear that he was actually listening to what I was saying, and that my requests were not a huge pain, but were totally doable and understandable. And when something changed unexpectedly, or I realized a little more clearly what we were looking for, David addressed our concerns with a smile and a reassuring word. He really went out of his way to make sure we were happy and satisfied. We will be going to Rome and Florence, and David has found the most romantic hotels, and a lovely Tour of Tuscany, that has gotten us SO excited! We just got our packet with itinerary, train tickets, and flight info; David even threw in complimentary luggage tags, a really nice touch. Everything looks perfect, and my husband and I cannot wait to leave in just under a month. I will be using Senator Travel again and again. David stretched our dollars and our imaginations. They took down my preferences and called me back in an hour with a list of recommended destinations with weather reports. Amazingly, the travel agent told me that it would be cheaper for me to book the arrangements myself and gave me the numbers and websites of the recommended airlines and hotels. This post is way overdue, but I have to give some love to David!! Last spring I was planning a surprise birthday trip to Europe for my wife's 30 birthday. Neither of us had been before and wanted to see a lot...for the best value. With technology, friends & family who have lived throughout Europe, and TripAdvisor, I figured I could map out the perfect trip. There was so much to navigate! What if it's a crappy hotel in a terrible (dangerous or inconvenient) area?? What if we'd be bored or unaccepted (two Black lesbians traveling...We're always cautious when traveling to new places). On top of that, my wife is very meticulous and thoughtful! This was here 30th and I planned it as a surprise. I wanted everything to be perfect. What if I missed a plan she would have caught? What if our trip wasn't up to her Aries' standards?? I found Senator Travel on Yelp. I got David. We started talking and turned out he and my wife have the same birthday!! Our trip was booked through Senator Travel, and they poorly recommended a company that has failed to reimburse us for what they falsely advertise as a "modern luxury experience". We hoped Senator Travel, who consider themselves "travel experts" would have done a better job of vetting the company they stand behind. I hope this review allows others to be forewarned of this falsely advertised "luxury" cruise experience. The following is a description of the appalling events that took place aboard the Celebrity Constellation Cruise, and the poor customer service that followed. It has been a year since our trip and we still have not been reimbursed for our time trying to reach a representative during & after our trip, expenses that arose to accommodate ourselves during this trip, nor the exuberant amount spent on what we thought was a "luxury" cruise. One star is generous. Description of the ship: Paint chips and droppings (food particles, gum wrappers, used napkin on our room deck; Rusty railings; Stains in old dingy carpet; Stains (food and probably biological) and wear and tear in our apartment grade sofa beds; Dirty bathroom with remnants of food particles in the sink that were too large to drain under running water, soiled/stained grout, rusted shower curtain rings, soiled toilet seat cover (appears as some was in a hurry and missed the seat when urinating); Masking tape securing the closet panel doors closed; They couldn't even keep the safe in good shape, the felt lining is peeling back. Shortly following the safety drill where we were packed in a non-airconditioned room packed like sardines. People were sweating profusely, trying to fan themselves asking for ventilation. One person in our group was enjoying a salad until towards the end he saw something on his plate he didn't recognize; it was a moldy piece of something. Cancellation of destinations due to software malfunction without proper recourse + discrimination: May 26, 2017, 3:28 am., notified by Celebrity Constellation that they were undergoing software issues and as a result, we would depart two days later than scheduled, which meant we would not be visiting Monaco or Nice; two destinations we were most interested in seeing. The email went on to say that a local Celebrity Cruise Team Member would be in contact to provide us with details as well as assisting us further. I had to spend my day trying to reach a representative when I finally did, they said they were still assessing the situation and would be back in contact with me; I never heard from anyone after waiting by the phone for the majority of the day. May 26, 2017, 10:24 pm., I received an email from Celebrity Cruises informing me that their shore excursions team member is working to provide us with a range of tour options to make the most of our time in Barcelona. No one reached out to us by phone or email. May 27, 2017, 7:36 am, I called the number set forth in the email to schedule a tour only to learn that the phone number provided in the email, as well as the phone number on BC Tours website, was inoperative; 8:47 a.m. Since I was unsuccessful reaching anyone by phone, I went to the hotel lobby and met Mark of BC Tours to schedule a tour. Mark informed me that the tour departed, despite not having been informed of any scheduled tours. However, I was promptly presented with a list of private tours as well as pricing. 3:00 pm, Per email from Celebrity Cruises. "For our added convenience transportation to the port will be provided." A specific time would be arranged for a coach bus to pick us up at our hotel; a specific time will be communicated to us via hotel reception later that day, but the staff was not aware. 7:56 p.m., Celebrity Cruises sends out an email that treats those bearing tickets to the Grand Prix with high priority and exclusivity. Visiting friends and family in Monaco and Nice were disregarded. I know that everyone scheduled on the cruise was inconvenienced in some capacity due to the ships software issues. However, those possessing Grand Prix tickets were afforded the opportunity to go to Monaco and Nice, while others were not; that's discriminatory! They had flights, hotel accommodations and transportation all pre-arranged for them, while the rest of us "non- Grand Prix" ticket holders were left to spend the day awaiting news from Celebrity Cruises by way of inter-cruise personnel, who were uninformed, ineffective and uncommunicative. We all worked hard to save for this trip. It took lots of planning, preparation and other costs for the care of our pets, extra staffing during our absence at our business, etc. Senator Travel: had a vision of bringing together a capable international staff to service the needs of a valued clientele by offering their knowledge and travel experience. I started looking online for tickets to go to Japan and Thailand for next year and quickly became overwhelmed with all the flights for multi traveling to Asia. Where. Do I. Begin. Let me say, there is an angel sent from Heaven workin' over there and his name is David. I have NEVER worked with someone so wonderful and customer service oriented in. my. LIFE. He worked with me from start to finish, and let me tell you, there were a lot of bumps in the middle. We had a freak accident happen with our hotel in Mexico, and he checked in with me every single day to make sure we were taken care of. When we felt we weren't he called the hotel HIMSELF and talked to the manager! After the trip was over and more details needed to be sorted out, he has CONTINUED to be just as helpful -- out of the kindness of his own heart. He helped me cut *appropriate* corners where we could knowing we were on a budget (ie offering a shared airport transportation vs a private). David truly cares about his clients, you can tell. He wants you to have an amazing vacation, you can tell how happy it makes him to hear that you had fun at a place he helped you get to. I will ALWAYS book my trips through David as long as he is an agent. Impeccable service is one way to describe the many assets this Agency has to offer. Working with them multiple times (15+) over the past two years, I have interacted with a variety of employees. Each bring a wealth of knowledge to the table and lend their expertise to a carefully planned itinerary. Many trips I book include international travel. As one could imagine weather can often time be the cog in the wheel of execution. On one trip, I was stuck in Minneapolis due to weather with a short window to catch my connection flight in Chicago. Knowing I would miss my connection in Chicago, I emailed Senator and within minutes they called me and quickly worked with the President of the company to find me a new itinerary to get to my final destination - India, within hours of my initial arrival time. I have been more than satisfied with what I would categorize as the VIP concierge level of service they bring to each request.
