Set sail for True Love, a truly enjoyable time!…read more Bottom Line Up Front: We had a wonderful, relaxing, and fun time for a good price. The Good: The history of the John Alden designed schooner is worth reading before you go. We had some more "salty" members of our group that recognized the name of the schooner from the 1956 movie "High Society" starring Bing Crosby, Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra and after that we were on board for a wonderful time. We even were seated in the seats once occupied by Gene and Bing. We purchased our tickets after being approached by Terry who negotiated a decent price with us because he wanted a full boat for the next trip. Captain Bill was an experienced Captain and is well known in the area. He got us underway and was a delightful host regaling us with stories about the "True Love", Seneca Lake and surroundings, as well as, some stories about racing the "True Love" and his crew, Spencer and Marena. Captain Bill even assisted another sailing boat that was in distress and precariously close to the lake edge. The trip was two hours long and on time. The crew served non-alcoholic and adult beverages (some free, some for a price) while underway and also sold some souvenirs (Whisky and glasses). The Bad: There was nothing bad, from start to finish, this was a very enjoyable trip and the crew definitely enjoyed sharing their love of the "Trie Love" with the joyful passengers. The Ugly: Absolutely nothing other than we could not be out for longer. If you find yourself in Watkins Glen, this is definitely an enjoyable to kick back, relax, and let the wind fill your sails. The owners were very kind and instructed me on technique and proper form when rowing a kayak. My partner and I came on a calm morning with perfect weather conditions to kayak (no wind, flat water.) We got the faster kayaks and were able to kayak 2 miles going to see Hector Falls and 2 miles coming back. I truly cannot feel like I understand and know a body of water now without kayaking it first. The price for 2 hours was $52, but given it is the famous, Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes region, I feel it's warranted and definitely worth it. During our stay in the Finger Lakes, for both of us, this was one of our absolute favorite things to do on the trip. When we come back, we will definitely visit this business again. This review focuses more on the campgrounds. There are tons of campgrounds in the area, but this is a great option! The sites are large and spread apart. There are no tent pads but there is plenty of room to set up all your stuff. Each site includes a picnic table and campfire ring. There are no bear concerns so you don't have to take as many precautions. You can also head straight into the gorge from some of the campsites. The bathrooms have lights, water, flush toilets, and showers. They were very clean while we were there and spacious. There's also plenty of dumpsters for trash. You can purchase firewood at the registration office, where they also have maps, guides, and useful info. It's a great local camping option.

Good gravel roads, spacious site, and full hookups made it easy. Very close to down town, kids park across the street, and right at the bottom of the lake; so close to everything. They leave the doors to the bathroom open all day & night, vagrants and folks using Marina across the street use the bathrooms, they are not ADA compliant (there's no wheelchair stall), a wheelchair cannot fit into the shower area, there's hundreds of bugs all over the toilets, floors, sinks, etc.. The sanitary napkin disposal boxes have not been emptied, and there are spiderwebs covering the ceilings, windows and in every corner. The lights are filled with 1,000's of bugs! The majority of sites are permanent residents, and they'll tell you that their rent keep going up, but no improvements are being made. For almost $100/night, you don't get your monies worth!

Apparently there were too many party's on this boat. Every single cushion on this boat had huge tears in them. The boat was wet, full of spiders and moldy. We were told when we got there that we could only go 4 miles out. Also, none of the gauges worked, no depth finder, trim gage or radio. It was embarrassing pulling up to the Tiki bar with everyone staring at this boat that looked like it was falling apart. We have rented boats at Swan Bay in the 1000 Islands for less money and they were very well maintained. Proof is in the pictures! The only reason why I am giving it one star is because the staff was courteous.

The trail is no paved but the surface is primarily very fine gravel which is amenable for road biking. When we got to pine valley the trail had larger stone and was not well kept so we turned around. If you're riding a fat tire or a mountain bike this is a great trail, if your on a road bike don't plan to go much past pine valley. We had a very nice ride :)
