Weather was iffy. 90 degrees, potential severe thunderstorms. But, we drove form Syracuse and chanced it. Turned out to be an absolutely perfect day. Breezy, half sunny, half overcast, cooler on the water and we zipped along. Captain was great, and we had the chance to talk to the rest of the crew and many of our fellow passengers. It made for a delightful afternoon. Try the local blueberry beer and/or the local rum while on the ship.

Out-of-town friends were visiting and wife wanted to surprise her hubby, so they asked us to go along, and we're so glad they did! It was a beautiful day and we thoroughly enjoyed it!! The tour is 2 hours and the ride greatly depends on the weather! It is a sailboat, after all, and so be forewarned! We happen to love being in the water so it was fine with us!! Bottled water and soft drinks are included with your excursion. Beer, wine, and other beverages including a private label rum is available for purchase.

Terry, captain Bill and the crew were EXCELLENT! Very kind, knowledgeable and fun! We had an amazing time and the small touches like blankets and appetizers were a perfect touch. We recommend sailing on True Love if you're in the area!

Happy Wednesday Adventurers! I was lucky enough to book a last minute Sunday excursion before I left to head home after visiting Watkins Glen. I am so glad that I decided to book this because the weather was absolutely perfect for it. The entire staff was knowledgeable and well versed in the history of the schooner as well as the surrounding town. The team was also very pleasant when handling the passengers on board. The views were glorious, skies clear, and the heat was just enough to make it feel like summer. They had several alcoholic beverages on board for purchasing--I went with a locally made crisp cider. Pricing about what you'd see at a bar, but it was well worth it considering that you're on a slow moving boat with gorgeous views! The best part is that you could have laid out on the floor to sun tan and lounge. I recommend this being a stop for anyone who decides to visit the Watkins Region.

We had a wonderful sunset sail. The drinks were good, as were the snacks. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable about the area and history. We advise you to ask them to tell you about the history of the area!

The captain and crew of the True Love showed my friends and I a great time during a sunset sail on Seneca Lake this past weekend!! We got to see a good portion of the southern end of the lake during the two hour sail. They offered us water, soda and delicious fresh fruits, cheeses and hummus for no charge. Wine was also available for a small fee. We even got to witness someone propose to their girlfriend during our voyage!!! I would definitely recommend sailing with Schooner Excursions to anyone that enjoys being on the lake.

We were about two minutes…read moreaway from when they were going to launch and Captain Chris called to check in if we were on our way before they left without us. Our tour guide was very sweet and made sure we were all comfortable during the two hour ride. They also have Eco tours, which we could definitely tell she was into. A smaller lake close by was closed off completely due to a deadly algae, which she then collected algae from the lake and took the sample under a microscope and invited anyone to come check it out. Her interest made it that much more personable and I enjoyed it. Not the bad algae though, obviously. She even offered to take pictures for us. The sunset was beautiful and on the way back we saw some water falls. Something to consider before booking. The difference between this sunset cruise and the Charter sunset cruise is because it is more private with 6 passengers per tour at a higher rate and starts at 6:30pm-8:30pm with daily cruises available, whereas Ithaca boat tours allows up to 24 people starting at 7:30pm-9:30pm with cruises only on Friday/Saturday. We didn't mind if there was going to be more people on board, but there were only about 8 of us on the boat that night anyway. I also like that it starts at a later time so we could relax and get a nice meal beforehand. I would recommend this tour. Don't forget it's BYOB! Have fun!

Hit wineries, a distillery and a brewery which was nice. Driver (Darryl) was a very nice guy even if he forgot my name and started calling me 'Steve' halfway through. That was pretty funny for the guys even if it was at my expense. Bus had plenty of room too, and we stayed on schedule without it being overbearing or annoying. Price point was fair given this was a 1/2 day tour with food/alcohol included. Brewery and distillery options couldn't have been better. Wagner brewing makes one of the best examples of hefeweizens I've had anywhere. Really great tap room overlooking the lake as well. Got a cheese plate there which was packed like shit in to-go containers, which belied the really good array of cheese, meat and accoutrements it included. Finger Lakes distilling was shockingly good. Their repertoire of whiskeys, including aged options, different styles (ie: pot stilled, applejack) and experiment stuff (cannoli whiskey) was superb. Had whiskey infused cigars here too which were awesome. I bought a shit ton of stuff from their. Surprisingly, I wasn't as thrilled with the wineries. Zugibe was respectable but paled to others nearby like Thirsty Owl; what threw me off was that the reds were much better than the whites there. Food there was gyros, which was odd but oddly good at least. Belhurst was probably the worst single winery I've ever been to, with the worst wine I've tried. Wine had a soapy taste and was cloyingly sweet. Bartender was snotty, rattled off some canned crap she memorized that was largely irrelevant, and didn't really know anything about wine. Place was largely a freaking gift shop, so no clue why they thought this was a good addition. Would use these guys again as Darryl was a sweetheart, and maybe just direct them a bit more in terms of what we're looking for. I am 100% fine with the emphasis being on beer/liquor, however the groom-to-be was more of a wine person in this case. Very workable either way.

I found the setting open and expansive, with clear sightlines across the water that changed character depending on the weather and season. The shoreline offered a mix of natural overlooks, parks, marinas, and small developed areas, giving me multiple ways to experience the lake rather than a single central viewpoint. The main highlight for me was the lake itself and the variety of ways to interact with it. The water felt calm and clean in many areas, and the region is especially known for boating, cruising, and lakeside relaxation. Along the surrounding shores, vineyards and wineries are a major part of the identity, and I stopped at a few for tastings with scenic views over the water. The small towns around the lake added to the experience, giving me access to picnic areas, walking paths, and casual waterfront spots where I could take in the lake at a slower pace. The experience around Seneca Lake was generally relaxed and spread out, with no single concentrated entry point or structured route. I took a boat tour from one of the marinas, which gave me a more immersive perspective on the water, and I also pulled over at roadside overlooks and shoreline parks for simpler, quieter moments. Crowds varied by season, with summer being more active and the time I visited feeling much quieter.
